[Ace is sitting outdoors, the sunshine warm on him, and his mood is very good considering the stress of the day before. And because things went so well, despite what he expected, he thinks it's time to bite the bullet and go for a new tattoo. And maybe a new piercing too.

But it's no fun if he goes alone. Especially when the large parlor he favors actually wants more business.]

So it looks like the tattoo parlor I like gives discounts for groups and parties. Who woulda guessed? So that's where all of you come in. If I get enough people interested, we all benefit. So come on, let's get inked up and then get some booze and food in us. I feel like celebrating today.

[He's going to stare into his phone for a few seconds before responding, because while a part of him has always been intrigued about tattoos, he's not completely sure he's ready for a commitment.

But there is one thing he's devoted to and knows that will never change. That thing -- his love for his brothers -- might be what he actually gets marked on his body.]

The tattoo on your wrist. What do you think about all three of us getting it?

You wanna get it too? I dunno how Luffy feels about tattoos but it'd be amazing if he was into the idea.

[Honestly, the idea of it is touching. A more permanent way to proclaim their brotherhood.]

I've always been a little interested in getting one. Just never knew what of, until now. You've given me inspiration.

[You'll have to forgive Xayah and the way the video is tilted- she's still in process of learning this... video thingie. It shows a lot of skies, her tall ears and the tip of her head, cutting off with her eyes. Whoops.]

Are you a leader of a tribe, perhaps?

[He looks... human. But looks can be deceiving.]

You should go for it. All of my tattoos are important to me, but that one is really special. [Ace puffs up a bit, pleased with himself.] Well, you're not the first to think I'm inspirational. [He's teasing, partially. And also full of it.]

Of a tribe? [Oh, wow. That's a crazy angle.] Why would you think something like that? [Just a former pirate brat that really likes tattoos.]

What do you think about me getting the same tattoo Dragon has on the side of my face?

[He'll actually rough sketch that out and hold the paper up to the camera.]

[Ace stares in amazement at the idea, how cool.] That's so badass, but it'd seriously hurt. Even I won't get a facial tattoo.

Really? Here I thought you'd be able to handle that.

[Is he serious? Who knows. He pulls the drawing back and grins.]

I think for now the wrist one makes more sense. I'm ready for making our bond even more permanent whenever this party happens.

[It's not as if he has a full schedule right now.]

I could do it, but it'd be a form of torture. Seriously. There's not a lot of cushioning on the face, it'd be rough.

[Ace doesn't have any interest in a tattoo there anyway.]

See, this is a good thing. Can you call Luffy maybe? See if he wants to join us? I dunno if he'll see this, you know how he is. He kinda goes his own way.

Why? Isn't it logical?

Tribes use tattoos as their identifying marks. As a special connection to each other. Mates, too, can get a pair of their own, just for themselves.

Is that not the reason why you get them?

[Excuse, what is this 'fun' thing?]

Wherever you came from is a hell of a lot different than where I'm from. Tattoos are permanent decoration for us. For me, if I put something on me, it's important and it's because I want a moment or an idea to stay with me. No one uses 'em as identifying marks unless they're bounty hunters or Marines.

[Fun is a big deal you poor deprived thing.]

So it would seem. It is a permanent mark for us too, but with far deeper meaning.

So... you place tattoos on yourself for no particular reason? Only to mark a memory?

[That... sounds kinda nice.]

Celebrating?

Deeper depends on the person. One of them marks my time serving under Pops, my father. [Ace blinks.] Guess in that way it's not that different than yours.

But tattoos can mean anything. They can be stupid and pointless, or something that holds importance for the rest of your life.

Yeah. I found out something kinda important last night. Got a lesson in a good way. It's worth celebrating. [That he's not so replaceable, that his love isn't on such a weak foundation as he thought.] So I'm gonna make a move and get another tattoo.

Hell yes! We're gonna have so much fun. What are you gonna get? [Ace is so excited now, he's really getting a group together and Marco makes everything better.]

It's a surprise. [Finger over his lips.]

[But now that Ace is excited for real, Marco actually is thinking he should really get another, not just troll Ace. Though the idea of having anyone but his own brothers tattoo him is seriously weird. The spade was done by Thatch, and even the modified WB mark was Thatch and Namur. Still, a ring of thorned red roses around his wrist for Grell WOULD make a pretty sweet addition to the fiery spade on his upper arm (usually hidden ofc.)]

Can't wait to see it. I bet it's gonna be so badass. [Not gonna show you the one he's getting, he's considerate. Good firefly, yes.]

I'm thinking about getting a piercing too... I got my ears done last month, but I kinda want something else. [He has no idea that Marco is trolling him even in theory. You'd think he'd be used to it by now but...]

I already got my guild mark... [Half-hearted smile about that, because Ace was the only person she was going to tell Mirajane left -- ALTHOUGH that does give her an idea!][Pause. Because she doesn't know if the pirates and heroes get along or have tensions or -- NAH, she knows Mavis and--] I think Mavis could use it a little more rowdy tonight. Have you made any other friends here yet? I know Papyrus is a big fan of you and Sabo. [Giggles.] Oh! That reminds me! Would you be interested in acting as a deputy for Papyrus in Fayren if he wins? [Both hands up!] Don't decide right away, but all the more reason to go to the Guild Hall tonight. You can talk to Mavis about when she was guardian! If you want.

I wonder if skeletons can get tattoos...

I'll stick with the wrist for now. Don't want to risk scarring my face up any further.

[He nods at the suggestion, jotting down a quick note in his notebook.]

Alright. I'll send him a message and call you when I hear back. Hopefully I can reach him.

[If he can't, he'll just call Ace in a day or two and say so.]

Speaking of tattoos, I've been meaning to ask. The one on your arm, the S crossed out. What does that stand for?

[Such a good innocent brother. Makes it all the better when Marco comes out not even a second later all, "Wow such fast work!" with a flaming spade.]

[As for piercing... Lip? Nose? Bellybutton?]

Eyebrow. Do your eyebrow. [Definitely. It'll make you look less like a classic D like Roger and Garp and more like the punk he knows you are.]

[Innocent, lol. But god, the trolling works so well when he's so trusting.

Hmm, all of those are good.] I don't know if it'll look good. But maybe. It's pretty cool looking.
