Wherever you came from is a hell of a lot different than where I'm from. Tattoos are permanent decoration for us. For me, if I put something on me, it's important and it's because I want a moment or an idea to stay with me. No one uses 'em as identifying marks unless they're bounty hunters or Marines.

Tattoos can mean a lot. I mean, if you just want something pretty or cool on your skin that's a good reason for one. Or if you want to remember something or someone important, that's a great purpose too. Or show how important someone is, that's what I'm doin' today. [Ace lifts up his left wrist, to the letters ASL tattooed onto it.] There's a lot of reasons. That one's for my brothers and me. On my back I got one too, it's kind messed up now but it's for my father and captain. And it represents the whole family I had back on the Moby Dick.

I think that's very sweet of you. It shows you care about those around you and always want a reminder of them. But... Can one have a tattoo for a reminder of something not necessarily positive, but the meaning behind it to be as such? If that makes sense.
