Arrival/Intro post [01]
1. Arrival
[Xayah turns the pendant of the necklace between her fingers as she slowly walks down the road. It looks... old. Unreal. There are screens and pictures dancing around in midair, like some magic she's never seen before. But they don't hurt anyone, only talk. The woman explains the cities and the pendant she got and Xayah inspects it curiously. She? Kidnapped? This definitively doesn't seem real.
She passes the hologram, trying to appear flippant and unbothered by what the woman said. And yet, her words still ring in Xayah's ears. This... this is not home. She spots a person standing nearby, wearing the same necklace she has and without hesitation, she approaches them.]
The dancing picture- what was that?
[She's determined to find some information and she won't choose the means for it.]
2. The Gardens
[Nature had always offered comfort to Xayah. All by her lonesome here, without Rakan, amongst the tall buildings people built, it feels isolating. It took her a while, a bit of wandering around until she found a wonderful oasis. Right in the middle of everything.
It was annoying. Nerve grating. All the noise instead of peace and quiet the trees and fresh air provide. She was advised to... rent a place. But honestly, she would be fine just where she is. Here, amongst the trees.
She needs a plan. But first-]
I will have ten of those.
[-food. Skewers, to be precise. Sold on a moving cart by the entrance in the park. The seller looks baffled but Xayah looks exalted. While she waits for the seller to pack her food, she squints at the person next to her.]
What are you looking at?
3. Video/Voice/Action for anyone nearby
[When the night falls, Xayah still didn't return to her 'place'. Lounging around the town and getting to know the streets was her main goal. Now, seated by the water at the bay, she's fiddling with the device she got. Someone showed her how to record, how to use voice actions and how to text. There were no such things back home.
So she decided to take advantage of it. If this device can record, then maybe, maybe it will memorize some music of her people. She's not a singer or entertainer like Rakan, she doesn't even like singing, but some stuff... it should be remembered.
Letting her voice go, Xayah sings and records the song when she thinks that there's no one else to hear her. When the song is done, she has a very rare smile on her face. Perhaps, perhaps she'll sleep calmly tonight.
She only wishes Rakan was with her.]

2- Gardens! Have an angel-
A quick survey of the area around her and her gaze falls to the food cart and the patron before it, buying.... all of it? Surely not, but either way, her casual gaze seems to stay there anyway.
Until she's called out.]
Oh, nothing- Sorry, [She apologizes, dropping her hair into a nearly flawless ponytail, despite being...possibly covered in mud and sweat.] Just trying to decide if I need some myself... The spicy ones are my favorite. [Who was she to judge... too harshly...
As if in confirmation, the strange dog at her heels huffs, though it refuses to take that trained gaze off the stranger its master is addressing. A bit overprotective?]
<3
She's still wary though- being friends with humans brought nothing good to her.]
Spice is fine. I am not picky. [Pause.] I would like a beer though. [Maybe a bar fight too. The last one was so much fun, Rakan was-
...
She looks up when the seller hands her the bag with few boxes, filled with food she ordered.]
This enough?
[She definitively offers way more money than she should, despite the amount of food. The seller looks full of glee though and not about to correct her.]
no subject
Much to the seller's chagrin, the angel steps up and shakes her head.] That... could probably buy the stand for a day.
[The seller is going to get a flat look and a raised brow.] Try about five of those bills.
3 - Action
The hitch in that dream is that music wasn't something he was trained in at all. That and his voice was...he'd explain it as being too "strong" a voice for the daintiness and delicacy of others not as strong as he was.
So when he hears her sing, his first thought, audibly expressed, is,]
WOW...I CAN'T MAKE OUT THE LYRICS AT ALL!
[His next thought is that she seems to know what she's doing, and might have some expert tips! He'll stride his way over in the evening, city lights to dash all hope of calm tonight.]
THAT SOUNDED VERY NICE! GOOD EVENING, IT IS I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS!! DO YOU KNOW A LOT ABOUT SINGING???
I am sorry for her reaction!
That's definitively a walking skeleton!
Are there necromancers here? Dark magic as well? She doesn't answer the question immediately, her feathers actually ruffled and gleaming behind her. Her instinct says 'shoot him' but the question he asks makes her thing 'pause.
She doesn't drop down from the fence, nor does she drop her guard but- she didn't attack. Yet.]
Not much. Just the songs of my people.
XD ur fien
OH, A PEOPLE-SONG! I WISH I HAD ONE OF THOSE. ALL I GOT WAS MY BROTHER'S STUPID TROMBONE.
[Yes that is a pun and yes he hates it.]
WELL, DO YOU HAVE ANY EXPERT TIPS FOR AN ASPIRING SONGSTER-SLASH-CELEBRITY??
no subject
Is this some kind of spirit, stuck in bones unable to move on?]
Uhh, not really. I am not a good singer.
[Her mate is though. Good singer and dancer.]
Maybe... don't yell a song?
no subject
[Still, that's a bummer. Looks like they both have a bit to learn in the music department.]
I'LL KEEP THAT IN MIND!! IT WOULD SEEM WE BOTH STAND IN NEED OF SOME MASTERFUL MUSIC MAESTROS. IN THAT CASE!! LET'S BOTH KEEP AN EYE OUT UNTIL WE FIND ONE!!
no subject
I don't really need one... [she squints-] but I'll keep my ears up and eyes open for one.
[Because- singing skeleton can't be that bad, right? And well, if it IS bad, the solution is simple.]
I'm Xayah.
no subject
I HOPE WE FIND ONE SOON! THEN WE CAN BOTH COMPETE IN THE SINGING CONTEST. YOU MIGHT EVEN GET SECOND PLACE!! AND EVEN IF YOU DON'T COMPETE, YOU CAN STILL WATCH ME! A GREAT PRIZE UNTO ITSELF.
[First is, obviously, going to go to him. He can just feel it in his bones.]
AND I'M THE GREAT PAPYRUS! WELL THEN, XAYAH-NARA FOR NOW!
[He'll regret that pun about ten seconds too late to apologize for it.]
1
But what he hadn't expected was to be approached.]
That 'dancing picture' is called a hologram. It projects an image that gives information to us poor unfortunate souls.
no subject
How do they teach... hologram to know such things?
[If it is just an image, it shouldn't know anything- at least not by itself. This is all too suspicious.]
no subject
[But he wondered if it should be something he did, after all, could be a way to gain power in this place.]
Computers were not a thing in my world after all.
no subject
I am sure it is not in my world either.
[Vastayans fight to keep the world in harmony, in its natural state. So these... computers (?) are definitively something she would fight back against.]
I take it you're not the part of this place.
no subject
[And he had no idea for how long it' been going on. He doesn't care, he had other things to really focus on if he ever got home.]
This place is too squeaky clean and bothersome.
