[He's a little nervous, coming into his last day of work. Always responsible, he'd confidently submitted his two-weeks' notice, assured that he'd get that coveted Guardian position he wanted.

Then he did. And while that did make him extremely happy and more than a little inflated, there was one thing that took some wind out of his bony sails: quitting.

As great and hard working as he is, it simply wasn't possible to maintain two jobs, especially cities apart. Fortunately he'd prepared a monologue for this very occasion. Now he just had to deliver it to Rose and any other coworkers who happened to be in the office. ~~without crying~~]

I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, AM NOW OFFICIALLY THE FAYREN GUARDIAN! I OWE IT TO MYSELF FOR MY MANY GOOD QUALITIES, BUT ALSO TO YOU, BB WOLF, FOR YOUR GREAT JOB AND YOUR WISE JUDGMENT IN GIVING IT TO ME.

[Every knight needs his steed, and Papyrus needs a cool ride. How else can he conduct Guardian business but in the coolest, swiftest steed in town? Smoker had sold him on the coolness of motorcycles. Now it was time to sell him the whole thing.

He'd received a very generous stipend, courtesy of his job's ***** rating, and he knew just where to spend it.

He strode in so confidently, so full of excitement and expectation.]

[His whole stay with Rowan was an exercise in disappointment. His cooking was..."indescribable" would be the kindest description. The two of them hadn't hung out as much as he'd hoped, and he'd never been the promised, popular attraction that would inevitably swarm the place with guests. The two were out and about so much that, despite sharing the same space, were as distant as any landlady and tenant.

But for all that, he wasn't personally disappointed in her. On the contrary, he was very grateful. The free rent had provided him a secure center from which he could explore the world, find his bearings, and eventually find the coveted fate that prompted his leave at all.

Even for their sparse interaction, he'll miss it. He ought to at least make a pleasant going-away speech. He packed his things, left his room impeccably tidy, and now had one final monologue to impart.]

GOOD AFTERNOON, GREAT LANDLADY ROWAN! AS YOU KNOW

[He had to start fulfilling his campaign promises, and that meant puzzles. Not the kind you'd find in the library, oh no. Real puzzles, the kind one braves in the great outdoors. Pressure plates and traps and mazes, oh my! Logically, the first one had to go near the entrance.

Papyrus makes a racket as he busily assembles the complicated machinery necessary for his mechanical monstrosity. He'd placed lots of yellow tape around the work area, reading: "CAUTION: SKELETON AT WORK!". But if you wander too close anyway, he'd perk up with some helpful advice.]

BEWARE THE DEADLY SPIKES!! I STILL HAVEN'T PUT THEM IN YET!!!

[He motions towards a spilled bag of those very contents.]
