Fireworks Party (Mingle)
Who: Anyone, basically! (I can't guarantee what will happen if a character has a warrant out for their arrest or the like.)
What: A summer beach party with fireworks
When: July 5, afternoon-evening
Where: Nova City beach
Pavilions with various contents have been set up all over Nova City Beach. While the actual stars and stripes are nowhere to be seen, there's a lot of red, white, and blue about thanks to Roland's influence. There are water buckets every few dozen feet, and fire extinguishers can be seen tucked away here and there, but because this party was planned out before the Pokemon showed up, their safety precautions have been more rushed. Wherever fireworks are being kept, hastily printed and laminated "no fire" signs have been pinned up, in addition to the usual safety warnings.
Even considering the handful of employees handing out sparklers and poppers, though, there's more to this party than fireworks. One of the pavilions (on the opposite end of the party as the little shop the sponsor set up, of course) has set up a grill station, pumping out burgers and dogs of several varieties, with condiments, sides, and ice-cold non-alcoholic drinks free to pick up, buffet-style.
Some natives from across Nova City even took the opportunity to set up a few carnival-style games across the pavilions, and there's a stage set up for live performances throughout the day. Finally, there's one last pavilion closer to the water than the rest, stocked only with simple laundry baskets of various colors and someone to watch over them, as well as a small screened-off changing area. Guests can deposit their regular clothes and other belongings here if they want to go swimming, and won't have to worry about them blowing away or getting stolen.
As the day wears on, the sun sets, and the sky grows dark, the lights across the area are put out, and the sky lights up with dazzling fireworks. Again, thanks to Roland's influence, there's a lot of red, white, and blue as well as five-pointed stars, though a variety of colors, shapes, and special affects are represented in the display. After the big finale, brilliantly lighting up the beach like lightning, everything wraps up; the guests are encouraged to go home, while those working the party clean up and pack up the equipment and pavilions.
