You may not be comfortable giving your specifics, but I would like to take a head count for magical users. Do we outnumber those who are "normal"? [If you can detect a certain bitterness to that last descriptor, well, there is a reason for it.] As far as I can see, our dear overseer or overseers like interesting sorts.

[By interesting he means "posing some danger".]

For those of you who are new, I am Gellert Grindelwald and I can claim, with a fair amount of comfort, that I am one of the most powerful Wizards in all the cities. But don't be frightened. I usually have a reason for those I strike down.

[Ha...ha...ha?]

I am a magic user myself. I was considered one of the most rare kind in my world, though I would dare call myself ordinary.

There are so many people who are far more capable than I am, so I appear ordinary.

Magic used to be prevalent on my world, but...things change. The power to wield this magic disappeared from humans generations ago, but is starting to appear again in me and my father.

Why it returned...? Well, it was originally believed that it was time to change again. The Great Mother was re-awakening to bless us once more.

Well... It was partly true. I'd rather not talk about the series of events that followed. Let's just call it "divine intervention" and leave it at that for now.

If we're keeping it simple, yes. Magic is natural, and the Divines of my world are the masters of nature. When they went dormant, so did magic and the world was less vibrant. The entire concept of humans wielding magic was thought to be gone when the last of our ancient kind died out.

[Evolution shenanigans at play. Had magic, lost it, new generations did not have it, adapted to not need it, then vanished from the generational line. Or so they thought.]

Would you be interested in a demonstration? I would like to see your magic as well.
