[It takes her two months to get around to playing the hologram the Tenth Doctor left for her, and even then, she's bawling and has to play it like 20 times before she can handle it. And that's even with holding Trunks' hand through all of it.]
[She can't wear the dog collar herself, though she debates it. Maybe with a cute Rose tag instead? But it's really not her. And it'd be weird...er for Twelve than it already is.]
I'm late on this, but yanno, if anyone needs this. [Plays the hologram through for them, and sucks on a lollipop, something they might recognize that version of the Doctor did a lot of. Always licking something.]
I um... TARDIS... [Deep breath.] He didn't want her be alone. Or me. So. She'll mostly just be open here at Torchwood, because I can't give up my key. I'm mostly still gonna be in the one at the University, with the Professor, but I'm trying not to just... fall back to where I was when I first lost him, 'cause it's different? Even though it still hurts. [Rubs her temples.] But he'd want me to carry on, all that.
Anyway... still accepting people for Torchwood. Scientists, musicians, cooks... whatever.
[Great, she is more a mess THIS time, than LAST time, blimey. But she lost Mirajane and Sarah Jane too, so that's probably why. And maybe part of her still thought he'd come back. Not that he's fully gone, because he's still here, it's so weird. Don't ask.]
Blimey, this is daft. Let's just talk about something fun instead, all right?
[Even though she takes down the framed mugshot and news article about them on the carousel, and grabs the dog collar, just sealing off the bedroom so it is no more.] I always used music to keep track of what universe and timeline I was in. You'd be amazed what changes, or what sticks, yeah? So everyone tell me your favorite song, okay?
Doctor, I'll be home in a bit, making... [Lasagna, cookies, pizza, spaghetti, it's all out.] I dunno, you pick.
I think my favorite song is Audioslave's Doesn't Remind Me. It was the first one I learned on bass here.

Do you need other distractions?
Re: [Video]
You'd have to come to me but it's completely safe, I assure you. If experimental.
When do you need it?
Whenever you are free. It's all ready to be tested. I just need a subject to tell me how well it's working
[Not vague at all....]
[Bites a finger, she's curious but...] Can Trunks come too? Oh and my dire wolf pup. She doesn't bite. Unless I tell her to.
Trunks is welcome to also volunteer for a second round of testing - but you will have to both do it individually. Multiple people will make the results skewed and delay my research.
But if he's willing to wait, then he can accompany you to my apartment.
I can give you more details in person.
[He says that in a light-hearted way, then gives her his address: Apartment 101, Tupelo Alley, Genessia - an elegant apartment building at the corner of Oak Ave. and 8th St.]
[And yet she goes; straight into the lion's den.]
[Video ---> Action]
[When she arrives, he's dressed once more in regular casual clothing and he'll greet her politely, ushering her inside. It's nicely and stylishly furnished - which came with the apartment.]
[Video ---> Action]
Nice digs.
[Action]
[Seems he'd gotten lucky with this classy apartment but at least at Aster he'd have a well paying job to be able to continue to live here.]
Now, can I offer you a drink before we begin? Coffee? Tea?
[Action]
[Action]
[And he'll direct her to that so she can prepare it, if she likes.]
So, to explain. I'm working on this tech... Let's call it vacation tech. A getaway where you don't ever have to leave your home.
[Action]
Now see, that's exactly what I was afraid of. Time portals and voids. [Sets a couple buttons on her pink cell phone.] Okay, but if I set a pocket void on fire, I'll finally be even with the Doctor, you are warned! [Waggles a finger at him.]
[Action]
[His hands punctuate his point with a short wave back and forth as well as a shake of his head.]
There are no portals or anything like that. It's best I show you. I don't want to explain too much beforehand. I want your feedback on the experience first.
[Action]
[Follows along cheerfully.]
[Action]
[He adds and leads her toward a closed door in the apartment, which was likely a spare bedroom. He opens it and turns on the overhead light since there doesn't appear to be any windows inside to provide outside illumination. It's also empty aside from one comfortable chair in the center of the room. He indicates that chair now.]
Please, sit down.
[Action]
No screwin' my eyeballs open for Clockwork Orange, okay?
[Paranoid? Cautious? She did run the Haunted House here with an elaborate torture dungeon in the bottom that is adults-only.]
[Sips her tea.]
[Not scared, but disturbingly braced.]
[Action]
Now just relax...
[Before anything else, there are sounds. The distance calls of seabirds then the lapping of waves on the shore... and seconds later she's surrounded by a beach. No room. No door. The beach looks like it stretches for miles and the ocean is before her, all clear blue water out into the distance. There appears to be sand at her feet and even the chair she was in now looks more like a lounging beach chair instead of a comfy living room chair. There's blue sky above, the sun bright. But it doesn't feel any warmer than before. Beck can't be seen anywhere, but his voice now filters through again.]
Do you see it?
[Visually and audibly it seems like a perfect beach scene. Yet if she tries to touch anything - the sand, the water - all she'll feel is the bare room she was really still in.]
[Action]
It's good! Do you have a--
[Oh blimey, this will take a bit. Space? = Doctor. Beach = Doctor left her with a hologram, so she definitely wants to change it. New New York = Doctor. New Vegas = Doctor. Motorcycle rooftops? = Doctor. Disney? = Doctor.]
Another setting yet?
[Rock concerts = Doctor. Jazz = Doctor. India = Doctor. Japanese bathhouse and geishas = Doctor and Jack.]
Forest maybe?
[Action]
[And because she mentioned it, the scene now does shift to show a tranquil forest, with glittering shafts of light coming through the tall trees. There's a path leading to a nearby lake and the seat has now become a log. Pretty flowers are scattered around, giving it a fairytale appearance. Still only Beck's voice can be heard and he can't be seen.]
It's all a work in progress. I know there's some sort of holographic room in Nova City, for entertainment purposes, but I want this to be much more.
[Action]
[Action]
[His tone is a bit terse at that but he now also appears, looking calm as ever. He glances around, phone still in hand.]
I've only borrowed some spare parts from them. This is my tech.
[He explains, looking toward Rose now. He gives her a small, lop-sided smile and puts an arm out as if to show off the view. The forest now dissolves and they appear high on a snowy mountain. The view below is spectacular with distant forests and rolling green hills. But where they are a light snow is falling. Beck presses some more things on his screen.]
Now... for the testing.
[She may notice a slight buzzing sound, as if some sort of static passed around them but then she should be able to feel it. The cool touch of snowflakes; the fresh mountain air. More than visual and audio, touch and scent has now entered the picture.]
[Action]
Do you need help selling it? Or-- [Pokes the snowflakes, and beams.] Perfect.
[Action]
[He begins but then there's a harsh static burst of sound and the scene wavers before settling again. The extra layers of the senses have reverted back, leaving just the pretty visuals and sounds such as a whispering wind.]
Dammit!
[He lightly curses and pokes at his phone but it's clear by his expression this frustrates him.]
I apologize. It's not perfected yet. I'm still working on the finer details.
[Action]
[Action]
[He sighs and his fingers rake back through his hair, dishevelling it slightly before he looks around and upward then back to his device.]
A few tweaks and...
Now... do you feel anything different?
[The scene will waver again, this time forming not into the three outdoor places she's seen but to something else - a memory of her own. But a pleasant one. It will only be the surroundings, no people involved. If they had been present they won't appear now. But the rest of the scene from her memory will be vivid and seen by both herself and Beck.]
[Action]
Yeah.
[Now it's cold, but not uncomfortable. Huge skyscraper tall waves cascade overhead, but frozen mid-crash, with the moon and the storm keeping them there in perfect harmony.]
[And it's called Widow Wept because there's giant raindrops frozen in the sky, touching the waves, like the moon was crying.]
He lent me his scarf and we had ice cream sundaes.
[Action]
Is this all how it looked? It's as you remember?
[Action]
My favorite planet. Other than Earth. Earth is complicated. [A small laugh.]
He took me to see the Rose nebula too.
[Rosette actually. But both of these are safe because it was the Doctor before he changed into one she lost, and not memories made here of course.]
[Action]
A place you enjoyed... Somewhere you'd want to revisit...
Good...
[He makes a movement on the phone screen and the bare apartment room is back, with its lone chair.]
It's a good start.
In-Person
So she called, and he cleared his schedule and made time for her. Normally Trunks was also not very big on being touchy-feely, except in certain situations--usually not mushy. This was one of those situations and Rose was welcome to hold his hand, lean on his shoulder, cry on him, yell---whatever she needed to help deal with her grief.
He'd brought plenty of ice-cream, and slightly less alcohol--all in a small capsule fridge just for her.]
Y'know, I'm not sure I have a favorite song. Maybe I should take up an instrument in my copious amounts of free-time.
[With a gentle smile, as he understands. They can change the subject, or talk about the Doctor, or whatever. Because the best remedy in times of loss is to try and be with your friends.]
Re: In-Person
You could do drums.
Re: In-Person
[With a teasing smile.]
[Ace isn't sure that a movie will distract Rose well enough again this time.] I don't have a favorite song yet. I'm still learning about music. Want to share what you like, and I'll show you what I'm listenin' to? That way I can get more songs to listen to.
There's this American surfer band you might be into. The bassist is famous, calls himself "Flea." Dresses really wacky. Red Hot Chili Peppers, gimme a second.
Stop me when you're bored.
[Has the TARDIS play Slow Cheetah.]
It's mellow like you like it, but it has dark undercurrents, and the lyrics aren't so specific, so they're more broadly relateable, and all kind of contradictory metaphors, yeah? Thought it might match your personality a little. [Blame the hat faces.]
[He isn't bored at all, just interested in her words and choices. One of the ways that he tries to show that he cares is though focusing on others. What they like, what they dislike, and putting them first. So he makes a quick list of Rose's choices. Even if he doesn't end up liking them, he likes her, and will carefully consider all of the bands she listed.] I'm not gonna get bored.
I didn't know someone could have a favourite song. Music is more of a human thing in my world. The Deimos are starting to learn about it though.

I know you we don't really know each other well, but... if you want a cool place to listen to your favorites or play someplace private with nice acoustics, you're welcome to come by the studio and try it out. New spaces can be...inspiring. [And distracting.] I haven't even made it all the way through the playlists they set up, if you want to sift through those.
video
Pardon me, madam. I heard the name 'Torchwood'- I do not wish to be insensitive, with this timing, but I was advised to speak with a woman named Rose there.

HMM...PROBABLY THE ONE I SANG IN THE COMPETITION!!
[He's surprised it's not hers too. She wanted the rights and everything!]
OR MY THEME SONG. IF I GOT ONE. BUT I HAVEN'T YET!!! I GUESS I JUST NEED THE RIGHT INSPIRATION...
[Like fighting a child.]
