OTA - August Shift
WHO: Kieran and YOU
WHAT: Coffee shop confusion, Nighttime Nova Nightmares, Park pranks, & more!
WHEN: All August long
WHY: Kieran needs to meet more people
Closed to Romani
He probably hasn’t actually looked this exasperated in a while…
Despite the sun shining and the beautiful day at the park, Kieran is less than impressed with his current predicament. Sprawled across a bench tucked just under a tree, he rubs his temples, doing his best to lessen the pounding in his head. Spending so much time in such an unfamiliar form has done him more harm than the practice has helped him.
Scattered around him is a rather… lethal looking pack of pokemon- a mightyena and absol amongst them- aside from the beautiful white fox with her head in his lap, and the…almost frightened orange dog laying just behind his bench. Oddly enough, it doesn’t seem to fit as the others do…

Attleton/Genessia City/ Honestly Anywhere- Coffee Shop
Look… Coffee isn’t exactly prepared like this where he’s from. Those in line behind him at the cafe will just have to exercise their patience…as the poor barista explains it to him once more.
“A lot of what?” Kieran (sporting well tailored jeans and a tidy black t-shirt) isn’t impolite, by any means, but it’s clear he’s frustrated…
Nevermind the latte special on the board beside him.

Nova City- night
While shifting forms has it’s limits, that limit is nothing compared to how thin his patience runs in a city like this. Nothing makes sense, and even in cat form, he’s well out of place and his eyes burn from all the irresponsibly bright lights…
One misstep and he’s on a moving sidewalk, hissing in distaste and darting off across the street- all while potentially scurrying right under someone’s feet if they’re not careful enough to get out of his way.

Everglade/Fayren - Hunting misthaps
It’s not unlike the shifter to prowl through the dark well after midnight, and there’s little amiss about a large wild dog wandering the streets of Everglade or a massive black wolf amidst the trees of the forests in Fayren, but those glowing silver eyes can be rather unsettling…especially if they’re trained on you. Especially with the pack of dark pokemon trailing after him...While the silvery blue ninetails catches the moonlight quite nicely, the absol, umbreon, and mightyena look rather irritable.
While he’s fairly well fed from a hunt earlier in the day, there’s something almost… predatory in the way he watches the few passersby. Perhaps he’s just being cautious.
Perhaps he needs a snack.
Either way, one might suddenly find themselves being stalked.
—
Fayren Beach
While meat is his preference, there’s very little to complain about when it comes to a nice, successful dive and a net-load of fresh fish on a warm sandy shore…though… to anyone along that shore, it’s probably very odd to suddenly watch a man emerge from the surf, despite there being no sign of one at all only moments ago.
Nevertheless, there are hands in place of flippers and soaked wet hair in place of a fin…. and a mostly nude male body that's very obviously put to good use often.
He doesn’t seem to mind the fact that his shorts are completely soaked through, or that the sun is beating down on his scars. He’s far too preoccupied on keeping the fish from slapping against the most glaringly painful old stripes across his back as he hauls his catch higher onto the shore over his shoulder.
Genessia City Park
He truly doesn't think it'll ever get old. Kieran is endlessly amused by the reports of strange animals prowling the park at odd times of day and...might be making every effort to keep the poor reporters confused.
One moment, there's a lovely little sparrow flitting about the tree... the next, a grinning panther lounges along one of the branches, tail swishing lazily in the heat of the day. One might see just about any creature they might imagine, if they stick around long enough...
((ooc: Pick an animal! I can roll with anything you choose, so long as it can potentially be from his world!))

Thankfully, its not causing damage.
But whats in her hands? A junior bow and arrow set! A weak bow and blunt arrows, a thing she took up for reasons she can't remember anymore. She aims and shoots these blunt arrows at a ghost-shapped target she made thats being moved and hung up in random places by her Staravia.
As she shot her one blunt arrow, it hits the target badly nd bounces off, falling with the shaft hitting a man resting on a bench with a light "thunk"]
Uh oh... Romani is in trouble.
no subject
Upon finding a sheepish little girl looking back at him, he sighs, runs a hand down his face, and rights himself, catching the arrow as it slides off his chest and into his hand. He can't be too particularly frustrated... in fact, a rather remarkable part of him fully approves of the young girl's training, even if she might simply be playing.
Though he doesn't look... particularly friendly, he's not quite as vicious as he might have been moments ago, now that he's waggling the arrow toward her and raising an expectant brow.]
I believe this is yours, [he calls to her, voice smooth and dark as night.]
no subject
It is... Romani is sorry. The arrow bounced off the dummy.
no subject
The white fox now settles next to him, tucking her head down in her mass of fluffy tails as the two dark types rest on the ground at his feet. The growlithe, however, now peeks around the bench warily watching the man but... wagging his tail in encouragement to the girl.]
no subject
Your sister shot arrows at you? That's not nice... But Romani doesn't have a brother, so I don't know.
[She hops off Torterra's back as they're close enough. She kneels down and invites the Growlithe to come say hi.]
Were you really sleeping here?
no subject
Kieran smiles almost fondly at the fire pup and nods, stroking the ice type's head.] She's quite the warrior, I'll admit, and I'm sure I did more than enough to deserve the extra attention, [he laughs, crossing an ankle over his knee and leaning forward to watch her interact with the growlithe.] And I was... But I'm glad you woke me up. I might have stayed here all day, entirely on accident.
[Not that his team seems to mind it. They all look rather content to just laze about in the sun, despite their varying types. The growlithe pup, though... seems much more content now that the girl is around.]
I think he likes you.
no subject
Suddenly! More quacks. Romani's Torterra makes its way to a sunny spot to get some rays.]
Romani likes him too. Is it a Pokemon? I still don't know a lot about them. But why are you sleeping out here?
back from the dead, oof-
That's what I was told, [he nods, still surveying the way the two interact.] I know he breaths fire, so it's likely safe to assume so, anyway.
...And I was tired, [he adds simply, grinning the wolfish grin he knew would have once set his sister all a tizzy after him. He never really answered her questions, either.]
Genessia City Park
So she ate a quick breakfast, scarfing down a boiled egg and toast, before locking up and hitting the streets while most people were still cursing their alarm clocks.
She made her way to the park, treading heavily over the wooden bridge where she stopped halfway to fold her arms on the rail and watch the ducks paddle in the stream below. Pretty cute! She smiled, leaning forward to watch them. Sure would have been nice to raise some ducks too, but they weren't really available for farms. She'd only seen them in the animal safari area.
Mooooooooo.
What the...?
Annie turned, puzzled. Either she had farm animals on the brain, or else someone took their pet cow for a walk in the park. The latter seemed more likely, but she took off anyway in the direction of the curious sound.
Yup. There was a cow, all right. A bull to be more exact, and more than a few people had gathered at a safe distance to stare. Didn't bulls have bad tempers, they whispered worriedly to one another. Would it charge them? Why was a bull in the park?
It didn't take Annie long to make up her mind and step forward. She didn't want to startle the animal by moving too fast, but moving too slow might alarm the bull too and warn of a more predatory nature. So she strolled up to the animal, and pet his nose. "There's a good boy," she murmured with a warm smile. She liked animals, and usually, they liked her too.
BUT WOULD HE?
no subject
A cow. What did they truly have to fear from a cow.
The young woman approaching him, however, caught his eye and he lifted his head, much to the shock and dismay of a few still-startled ladies nearby. Reveling in their ridiculous warnings to the girl, he watched her approach in a most un-bovine-like fashion, mischief clear in his gaze.
When she placed her palm to his nose, he huffed once in amusement against her fingers. She had been brave enough to approach him... perhaps he might let her in on his little secret.

"Hold on, I think I know what you need." Giving his big neck a fond pat, she unshouldered her backpack and dug out her brush. It hadn't seen much use in a while, so it was nice to have a reason to put it to work. She scrubbed at his chest, then circled him, running the brush vigorously over his hide to get him good and clean.
Just a normal day in the park, brushing a stray cow in the middle of a small crowd, nothing weird about that.
But now what? Annie put her fists on her hips, brush still in hand, regarding the animal thoughtfully. She hadn't applied to reopen her farm, feeling far too guilty about leaving it behind when she'd inadvertently been removed from the city, but she sure wished she had it now. "I guess we could go for a walk," she suggested aloud. "One of these places must have a barn or something, so we'll look for that." And if all else failed, she'd ask Papyrus to keep him until they could post a notice in the newspaper and find the owner. He had a ranch, didn't he? It would certainly be an interesting home if nothing else, and he seemed to treat his Pokemon animals well.
She knelt once more, replacing the brush with a small brass bell on a handle. Annie walked a short distance away from the cow then turned, shaking the bell and waiting to see if it responded and followed.

Hello...? Is someone there...?
[Maybe she'd better flee, but finds herself paralyzed. If something's watching her, it's probably just waiting for her to try to flee. She tries to whisper to herself, hoping to calm down...]
It's okay...this is Fayren, not Everglade...
no subject
A dragon?
A few more moments of silence, and he moves again, shifting into... well. Something with wings that scatter the leaves he flits through to get a closer look. Still, he sticks to the shadows, observing her for now...]
no subject
[Just to make sure, she summons a ball of light magic, letting it hover above her head for a moment. She then guides it ahead of her, brightly illuminating and scanning the surrounding area. Carefully, Liora crawls out of the underbrush, following the ball of light.]
no subject
The crow sits atop a nearby branch now, silver eyes swirling with curiosity even still. He flinches silently against the summoning of Light magic, but only narrows his gaze against the sudden brightness, watching the little one crawl along.
...and he'll just continue to follow her for a few more moments, careful to keep away from that light and close enough not to lose track.
Not... that it's hard with that bauble leading her.]
no subject
It is just a bird.
[But she couldn't help but notice how the bird is peering directly at her.]
It is just a bird...right?
Fayren
Lithium for her part was listening to the forests as the others grazed and paused when she felt something familiar approach. Her ears flickered as she raised her head from where she was nuzzling the little grass deer and stares in his direction.
A flash of silver catches her eye as she turns to catch a glimpse. Now what.]
no subject
Fortunately, he's wise enough to keep his own team closeby... aside from the unruly little zorua who suddenly has every bit of nerve to dash out of hiding and leap onto the little deeling's back to get a better look at the familiar mare next to her.
Even with paws, he can barely resist the urge to slam his palm against his face.]
no subject
The little deer made a soft distressed noise as she starts to try and buck off the zorua while the other pokemon in her herd go on alert, ready to attack anything that approaches.]
no subject
With a low, almost silky growl, the wolf padded into the clearing, swirling silver eyes trained on the Zorua. It immediately cringed back, dropping down to the forest floor and making its way over toward its alpha even as he began to shift.
Kier rolled his eyes as he straightened his cuffs and watched the little fox cower behind his icy ninetails.]
Sorry about that... seems she was just as excited to see you as I was, [he purred.... no less threatening, likely, to her little deerling in human form, but calm enough.]
Everglade
no subject
...almost as justified as his satisfied growl of pleasure and fanged grin when he picks up the scent of an actual challenge.
On silent paws, he snakes through the area, sizing up his 'prey' as he goes. Admittedly, he's far too curious about the creature to be in full on hunting mode just yet... but even he can't resist the pull of a good fight.
Of course, he won't stay in his wolf form much longer... Needing a better view, he'll just risk the flash of dark magic and the rush of bright white wings as he sweeps up to perch atop a tree not terribly far from Namur. Those eyes, however, remain as silver as the wolves.]
no subject
Everthin' okay with y'? Taste kinda stressed all a the sudden.
[His ward gulps audibly, trying not to cringe as Namur drapes his arm over their shoulder.]
N-no. Everything is fine. It's just. I mean, I didn't call you for nothing, you know? I think someone wants me dead. Er. D-deader. C-can we hurry it up a little? I just want to get home.
Set the pace, my legs is long 'nuff t' match whatever y' got.
[The ward looks almost like they want to dart away from him, but Namur speeds up in tandem and stays right on top of them, leaving the tree behind.]
