When a Wanderer Does Wandering Wrong
Who: Kenshin Himura
When: Throughout September
Where: Fayren, generally not too far from the Amatsu Inn
What: Various!
Note: If you want something else, either start it or let me know at
fireduck!
Working:
Kenshin has been going about his usual routine of cleaning, helping with laundry, that sort of thing, mostly as something to do. He knows his wife makes more than enough to keep them comfortable, but he's never been able to really sit still. He'd become a wanderer for a reason, and even without that reason in Genessia, he still feels the need to be active. Even if he hasn't really left Fayren since he'd been directed there when he'd first arrived.
He keeps the sleeves of his kimono tied back while he works and really, shows he's pretty darn good at this work too with how fast he works. Clothes get hung up to dry, the floors get swept the mopped, furniture is dusted and what repairs make it to the list are checked on, and fixed if he knew how to do it.
He never minds company while he works either!
Swordsmanship:
But even here, there might be a need for his sword, reverse-blade or not, and he isn't about to let the ability to protect those who need him go sour. He doesn't need to be the best, just... Good enough to keep them alive and well. Especially Tomoe. He won't let her be harmed ever again.
So he finds a good place to practice off the beaten path, and slips into the forms his master had taught him so long ago. Leaps and arial strikes at unseen targets. Swift runs and strikes, quick sheathing and unsheathing. Everything he could practice without another providing rough contact.
Maybe he wouldn't turn an opponent away, if they dare to approach. But an audience would see a change as he tucks away the worst of that side of him. there's no need to show everything to just anyone.
Picnic: Closed to Tomoe
Even the most oblivious of people (one Himura Kenshin) can realize that maybe he should do something special for his wife. But what could she possibly want?
Time away, where she's not expected to manage every little thing, every second. Or so he hopes. He's managed to put together a meal for them off by one of the quiet streams he's become fond of, then goes looking for her. He's put on the kimono she made him, and at least tried to do something about his hair.
"Tomoe? Ah...Would you...have some time today? There is something this one would like to share with you, if you can spare part of your day." So. Very. NERVOUS. But he can't help the shyly hopeful look and soft little smile that tends to appear whenever he sees her.

Picnic
But that wasn't entirely accurate. There was a difference between living and surviving. She'd been surviving in Fayren for nine months. She started living again roughly ten weeks earlier, when Kenshin returned to her again. She finally had reason to do something other than simply drown herself in her work. It wasn't the same as it had been in Otsu--it couldn't be the same and she wouldn't have wanted it to be. For all the peaceful sweetness there had been tainted by the truth that she knew and the lies she had projected to him.]
But whatever it was that they had now... it was just as sweet, if oddly tentative. Still dancing about each other, unsure of how to act and interact at times. But one thing was certain: although he was older he was still the same person she'd fallen in love with, that baseline had never changed, even in well over a decade. And he... had never quite let go of her. She still wasn't sure how she felt about that, but having him here with her... she couldn't quite bring herself to feel badly about it...
Tomoe is predictably the kitchens when Kenshin comes looking for her, though everything seems to be running smoothly--in part because she has found a group that has taken to the training she has done with them to the point that she can just periodically check on them instead of having to micromanage everything. Things have happily been running smoothly since the ordering error in June.
So when Kenshin finds her she is able to turn to one of her workers, giving them a few simple instructions before handing over the clipboard to go speak with her husband. Her eyes warm almost instantly seeing that he was wearing the kimono she'd made for him. It isn't a smile in the traditional sense... but for anyone who knows her and has learned her body language it is as close as she tended to get. She tilts her head just a bit at his apparent nerves. At his question she considers it a moment, glancing back to the kitchen staff before looking back to him with a nod. "Yes... I think they'll be alright without me for a bit."
At least she hoped that was the case.

She won't approach, not even speak. Content on keeping to herself and letting him be. She'll even gladly move if she's in the way.
Though she remains quiet, the silence broken by a big, dragon sneeze. Oops.]
