Here's a hypothetical, and probably dark, scenario for all of you. Is there anyone in your life that you would die for? What if...that person you love and care for that deeply betrayed you? What would you do? Some of you already know Marco is that special someone for me, and he already knows what I'd do to him if that should ever happen. [Grell's tone became quite menacing just then, and in a way answers her own question. She takes a pause, and a chance to not sound as if she's plotting to openly and brazenly murder her husband.] Which I doubt would happen. [They've been together too long for her to ever doubt him.] I know that not everyone is as vengeful as I can be, so I'm interested in your thoughts.

It depends on what kinda betrayal, I guess... [If he was the person hurt, he'd probably forgive. And too easily. If it was someone else, well, he's the type to track them down to the ends of the worlds for revenge.]

I didn't think there were levels to betrayal. [Color her surprised. She doesn't even bother to differentiate all that.] It's entirely hypothetical. I'm not the type to air our dirty laundry. You'd be one of the first to know if anything was wrong.

I guess that didn't make sense... [Ace sighs.] If he hurts me, somehow, it's not a big deal. Not that he does or goes out of his way to, but he can say what he wants, do what he wants, even if he slept with someone else I'd forgive him. I can't think of a single thing Smoker could do to me offhand that's a real betrayal. But if he hurt someone I loved, like, seriously hurt them, that sort of betrayal? I'd never forgive him. And there'd be blood. But he's not like that. So I don't have to worry.

[This sort of confession should probably be private entirely, but Ace doesn't think of things like that.]

I, of course, also don't take very kindly to people who turn their backs on their own family. Especially when they raise an army with their kidnappers and invade their own homeland.

No. I know her better than that. She would never do that. Unless she were controlled by an outside force, of course...

We can't rule out outside forces, now can we? [She hadn't thought of that. Grell gives a soft hum in thought.] I honestly think that if that were to happen, the solution would be simpler than if there wasn't outside interference. [Most that are controlled by someone or something else would rather just be put out of their misery, really.]

Portgas earned his freedom. I'd probably be more likely to murder anyone else he slept with. But I know and trust his justice better than he does himself. He's not able to go against it.
