Refractory materials are what forges use for insulation, or what crucibles are made out of. A crucible is what you put your smelting -- the stuff you want to melt; into. That means they're more stubborn than bone or teeth about melting. You'd put bones and teeth into a crucible to melt them... Sort of.

And scrimshaw... Do you know what that is? It's not a sex thing, just getting that out of the way.
