NEWSPAPER - BIWEEKLY EDITION

[Did you subscribe to The Genessia Tribune? Did you even remotely wish you had a newspaper or some other form of media to refer to for news, weather, and current events? Then you're in luck! There's a paperboy riding through the streets of Genessia flinging newspapers onto doorsteps or, if you're unlucky, through your window. Even remote locations in the other cities will still get a paper if one of the residents ever wanted one. The Paperboy is just that dedicated.]

[And if you're one of the following people, and you happen to subscribe to the newspaper, the Paperboy may or may not have flung the newspaper through that person's window, at the person, and/or broke something in the area: Smoker, Soma Cruz.

The following people have their newspaper placed neatly on their doorsteps: NO ONE. NO ONE IS SAFE.]

So Long, Weeping William

Infamous serial killer William Packard, better known as Weeping William, was executed on October 2nd via lethal injection. William was found guilty of twenty-three counts of murder, including that of his wife Kitty Packard, all of which he bludgeoned to death with his carpenter's hammer in the skull. Nova City rarely puts criminals to death save for those who have committed exceptionally heinous crimes while displaying no signs of remorse or inclination for rehabilitation; most are put into permanent cryogenic sleep.

"We're not sorry to see the creepy bastard go," one of the Nova City prison guards commented. "He fought every step of the way until we let him carry his wife's skull in his arm, then he was as quiet and complacent as a prisoner can be."

Despite the execution of one of Nova City's most notorious criminals, the general atmosphere of the city remains tense, particularly in light of its most recent guardian's sudden disappearance.

Circus Escape!

Excitement over the brightly colored tents set up in the Fayren Meadows quickly turned to disappointment when one particularly clever monkey (named Kimba) not only escaped her cage, but opened all the other animal cages as well. Promises of fierce lions jumping through hoops, elephants performing acrobatic feats, and Tiki the Tightrope Walking Squirrel all turned to dust when the ringmaster awoke to find all of his animals gone.

"Ticket sales are a quarter of what we expected, especially after we spent so much money advertising about the unicorns," the ringmaster said, moustache drooping sadly as he clutched his top hat in his chubby little hands. "I'm worried about that harpy, too. That thing could be dangerous if it isn't found and locked up soon."

Angry crowds were quick to boo the clowns that came out for an extra performance in place of the horseback riding part of the show. "No one likes us," said Boo Boo the Ouchy-Wowchy Clown. "No one."

Free tickets are being offered to anyone who can find the rogue animals and return them to their home in the circus.

One Flu Over the Cuckoo's Nest

With the swift change from summer to fall, temperatures are dropping and doctor visits are way up. With cooler days comes autumn colds and flu season is in full swing. To reduce risk of contagion, please keep the following tips in mind:

1. If you're sick, stay home! Colds spread more quickly when stubborn sick people persist in going to work or running errands.
2. Wash your hands frequently.
3. Sneeze into your elbow (if you have one) instead of your hands.
4. Get plenty of rest and stay warm to keep your immune system beefy.
5. Stop by your local pharmacy for a preventative vaccination shot.
6. Don't pick your nose and wipe it on someone else's sandwich.
7. Eat nutritious food, exercise, and take your vitamins.

Stay healthy, Genessia!

Spooky Sculptures and Petrifying Paintings!

Artist Geraldo Mendez unveiled his monster-themed artwork last Tuesday to the delight of the Everglade townsfolk. His paintings are centered around the 'classic' monsters portrayed in popular cinema, including the bride of Frankenstein and her very iconic 'do. His works also feature several more paintings and sculptures centered around traditional Halloween icons, such as glowing jack-o-lanterns, a giant spider of wrought iron, and a vase of wilting flowers embraced by a pair of ghostly arms. Tickets are available for ten red bills, five for those who show up in a scary costume.

A list of bounties being offered throughout all five cities. Generally only one bounty is offered per-paper for each city, but sometimes multiple bounties are offered. Help the community and get criminals off the street at the same time. Don't see anything that interests you below? Feel free to make up your own until a replacement for the Beacon Bounty Board can be found!

Genessia City

Latex Lament - Someone dressed in a large rubber monster costume has been causing wanton property damage around town. This person breaks shop windows, kicks over plants and shrubs, dents automobiles, and even set a treehouse on fire. A level 3 payment is offered for anyone who can track down the person responsible.

Nova City

A Cult's Warning - A wave of petty crime involving pick-pocketing has citizens concerned about a cult. They steal loose change or wallets and leave behind cryptic or sinister notes in the victim's pockets in return, threatening worse misdeeds to come. A level 3 payment is offered to someone who can discover who these people are and put a stop to their criminal activity before it escalates.

Pamphlet Threat - Somebody has been posting leaflets around the city, claiming that they will 'Destroy the System' and cryptically warn of greater threats to come. A level 2 payment is offered to apprehend the doomsayer.

Everglade

Cemetery Vigil - Several reports have been made regarding the theft of corpses from graveyards which are being returned sans valuables, and with several bite marks taking chunks of rotten flesh from the dead body. A level 3 payment is being offered for the identification and capture of this vile grave robber, and authorities warn that the culprit may be a ghoul.

Fayren

Baleful Polymorph: Several knights, when their patrol routes got too close to the woods, have been reported missing, only to be found days later in an altered form. One squirrel was found scurrying under a burgonet. Another odd mushroom was seen with a buckler wrapped around its stalk. A 3 star-payment is being offered for any who can bring the culprit, probably an ugly old witch, to justice. Additional one-star payments are offered to any who can find/cure the victims.

Mer-Thief - The stock of water-breathing potions in every magic store has been either destroyed or stolen by a rogue merperson from Lake Bellaheim who definitely doesn't want any visitors who don't belong. Initially posted as a level 2 payment, this has been escalated to level 4 as the previous bounty hunter who pursued this person was killed and left to rot on the shore of the Sapphire Lake near the Elven settlement of Doeshire.

Attleton

Stee-Rike! - A rash of thefts targeting owners of rare and valuable baseball cards has collectors outraged. The culprit seems able to avoid setting off home security systems, but nonetheless has broken several windows and display cases to swipe the precious sporting memorabilia. A level 2 payment is offered to the person who manages to bring in the thief.

Windgate Creek

Tumbleweed Menace - A merry prankster has been putting hornets to sleep and encapsulating them in the center of tumbleweeds before turning them loose. Wherever the tumbleweeds stop, the jarring motion wakens the hornets, where they viciously sting the closest living person or animal. A level 2 payment is offered for this bounty.

[ OOC: Want to submit anything to the newspaper? Reply to the Submissions For The Next Paper thread and include any information you want to be sure is in next Sunday's newspaper! This includes news, gossip, singles ads, business advertisements, job listings, bounties, and anything else you want in the newspaper.

FOR BOUNTIES: Reply to the Bounties Claim Thread with a claim using the form. If you aren't logging the bounty, it must include a one-paragraph summary of the details of the bounty. If you're including a log, you can go ahead and claim a bounty and provide a link either after it is completed or while it is going on to show that it is being done/has been done. You may also choose to claim a bounty and handwave it, but anyone who offers to create a log for a bounty will receive priority over those who handwave them. Please note that whoever goes after the bounty is in charge of writing the NPCs involved, but feel free to ask the mod for any tips if you like. First come first serve on claims.]
