Brawl at the Castle Ball (Action, OTA)

Castle Ball
[Ted knew the world's rhythms; when there's an event for all the pendant bearers to attend, with notices they couldn't ignore, that meant something significant might happen. And no one craves significance like this fool.

So he went to the castle proper. Whatever mischief these medievalists suspected was quickly swept away when they recognized him as one of the chief heroes involved with the queen and king's rescue. That made him a persona grata; the guards practically rolled out the red carpet.

Ironic, he thought as he strode in adorned with colorful, yet formal, attire. He cared nothing for them, having long grown indifferent to the sprites of Genessia. His jadedness about the world's fictitious nature dulled all parties, so while he waits for something more interesting to happen, he seeks to relieve boredom.]

A. May a clown have this dance?
[Ted knew a waltz or two, and it's his favorite past-time besides. He politely declines even the offers of high nobles in favor of someone, anyone real. If he spots your telltale necklace and sees you on the dance floor, too, he'll flash a genuine smile for once, and approach.]

Good evening. Care to step the hours away?

[Anything to kill time before the main event. Whatever it was.]

B. Monster Attack

[
Midnight passed, and naught happened.]

Huh; that's the usual hour. When will the other shoe drop?

[Half an hour later, he got his wish. A 12-foot, scaly-hided, corpse-flower/tentacle chimera burst into the scene. The guards set upon it at once, to no effect. Completely no effect, as Ted saw. Their spears and swords weren't only vain, but sheer nullity itself. They found not an ounce of purchase; it was as though they didn't exist.

The monster even regarded them all conceptually as though they were even more fictional than Ted's low opinion. Ted himself, evidently, garnered more interest. It effortlessly pushed through the vain guards in pursuit of someone more solid.]

Good Lord!

[Instantly he donned his goku uniform, shrouding himself in black. All right; let's see what will work. Being a Fayren monster, Ted expected something fantastic. Silver, fire, a crucifix, perhaps. He launched all of this and more via void-made cannon, dispensing everything and the kitchen sink at high velocities.

Not one of them worked. Even with his enhanced senses and reflexes, he couldn't detect that any of them made the slightest difference. Invincibly, the monster charged through the barrage straight into Ted, pinning him down with a heavy hoof while its tentacles threatened doom.

Well, if anyone has any bright ideas about what the mystery McGuffin is, he'd love to hear it.]
