[Of course it had been a foregone conclusion that the Roseblack would take Guardianship of the central city. Ejava couldn't very well leave it in the hands of some mortal. It was hardly surprising no one had been foolish enough to run against her.

The feed opens on the Dragonblooded general sitting in the City Guardian's office, clad in her full green Jade armor.]

Citizens of Genessia, I am pleased to announce that as of today I have been officially appointed Guardian of Genessia City. You have my word that I will carry out my duties as City Guardian with the skill and dedication befitting an Exalted member of the Scarlet Dynasty, effective immediately.

This announcement is also to serve as a call for deputies. I will require skilled officers, fighters, and investigators to assist in maintaining security throughout the city. I encourage anyone interested in the position of Deputy Guardian to contact me as soon as possible. [A general needs officers and soldiers to lead, after all.]

[Kairi paused slightly. After all that time in the the world she had figured she was a pretty skilled fighter by now. She wonders if she could do something like this.]

I know I can fight. [She's gone up many a person and while she only ever killed one man, she knew how to at least disarm rather than kill.]

But I figured you'd judge me for how old I must look, but I've been in many a battle in the last world I was in and have the scars for it too.

[Ejava had already been enrolled in the House of Bells at Kairi's age, and schooled in archery and swordplay even before that. It's not unusual to her that someone that young could know how to fight, although enlisting in actual armed service at that age is.]

[She had to think about where it was for a moment before giving a small but determined nod.]

Alright, I'll be there as son as I can. [With that she switches off and makes her way. It takes her at least ten minutes or so before she manages to arrive.]

"I hope your arm is well enough to hold a pen, Guardian Tepet, without longing for sword."

[General Tepet is out front waiting for Kairi when she arrives. After exchanging greetings, she leads the girl inside and to a moderately-sized dojo-styled training room.]

Before you show off your fighting skills... have you ever led a group in a combat situation? And how are you with taking orders? I need soldiers and officers, not lone warriors who will get themeselves and their teammates killed trying to be the hero.

Would it have mattered if someone had opposed me? [She evidently doesn't think so.]

If the person was really charismatic and got everyone on their side? Yeah.

If you're truly so worried about me and my sword arm, I'm not above accepting your help. I'm sure Thorn would be quite sated by a taste of your life's blood. [Thorn, of course, is the name of her Daiklave.] I might even commission a statue to commemorate your sacrifice.

[He can't be talking about a Solar... right?]

They'd have to be quite charismatic indeed.

It doesn't matter. The lack of opposition is proof enough that I am the best choice. When no one else will even step up to seek the position, it naturally falls to the Dragonblooded to protect mortals.

The lack of opposition meant you were the only choice. I personally didn't even know what a Guardian was since I haven't been here that long and I didn't hear anything about it until the elections.

Would you prefer to have run against me yourself?

Nope. The job has no interest for me. If I want to protect people, I don't need a title or job like that to do it.

So long as you prove an effective ally and not a hindrance, should such a situation come up.

I'd rather have a deputy than a vigilante.

I'd be an extremely effective ally if I were to get involved, trust me. [He's not so sure if he is even going to get involved with the ongoings here, though.]

Vigilante has such a better ring to it than deputy, though.

I can admit I've never led anyone. We always followed a captain in another world, I was just a crew member. But it proves I can at least follows orders and I can learn how to lead a group. [She figures since she is a good learner she could learn and experience what it would be like. After all it's better to test one skills in actual combat rather than just from a book. It's different.]

I don't try and be a hero, I always fight to protect my friends and those I care for.

[Was Gabe using Lilith's form when he was trolling Rosie at the cafe, or was he just taking the shape of some other undefined little girl? I vaguely remember you mentioning something like that in one of the posts maybe...?]

Use whatever word you want, just don't endanger anyone under my protection.

What, do you think I'm going to go out and get into full on brawls with someone and hurl them from one side of the city to the next?

You could be perfectly well intentioned and get someone killed by getting in the way trying to save the same person in a crisis. An unknown third party in a conflict, or any emergency, can be dangerous no matter whose side they're on.

If you won't place yourself under my command when you try to protect people, at least make sure you don't get in the way. If you do more harm than good I'll have to treat you as a threat regardless of your intent. That's all.

As long as you can follow orders. You'll learn to take charge after a while.

Good. Self-sacrifice is not to be made lightly. Some situations may call for it, but they are fewer than many think.
