Who: Spirit Albarn (cameraman), Laharl, Mid-Boss
When: Backdated to the 4th day of the event, evening
Where: Attleton Colosseum

This is a war that was lost the day it began )

[OOC: Okay, so here's how this is all going to happen. The first thread will be Laharl and Vyers duking it out with Laharl eventually killing Mid-Boss. Everyone else is free to do reactions/post-fight threads if they desire~!]

Upon entering the Cloister of Trials, the cloister will immediately work to separate each and every one of the people who enters it from each other. Once alone, they will encounter their own personal Trial that plays upon one of the character's deepest insecurities. They will find themselves drawn to a room with that scenario in it.

For example: Character A always subconsciously feels they are unwanted in their group of friends. A suddenly finds themself walking into a room and stumbling across their friends, who were are lost in the Cloister because they went looking for the character. The characters suddenly start openly saying how much trouble that person is and basically just saying all the things that the character thinks poorly about themselves, whether their friends actually think it or not. In order to pass the trial, they would need to come to a point where they believe in their friends and are able to realize that this is not real.

Obviously, what the trial contains will depend on who your character is as a person and you as a player will be responsible for writing out what that is. In order to pass these trials, your character needs to prove that they are emotionally and psychologically strong enough to do so or they will not be provided with any of the answers they seek. It will seem very much like reality to your character right up until the moment they pass, if they pass. If they do not pass, it may still leave your character somewhat traumatized until someone else convinces them that it isn't real.

Due to the nature of the Cloister of Trials, no supernatural abilities of any kind will work in the Cloister. This includes species-based abilities that go beyond basic human function (like the ability to walk/breathe/whatever if your character has trouble doing that) whether that character is human or not. The only way to get through is to actually pass the test. If your character cannot pass their test, then they will be spit out by the Cloister at the entrance and will not be able to ask a question nor offer their sacrifice to Fayren's spirit.

All participating characters will be required to comment this post with their own 'log' post about how their trial goes, to which a moderator will reply with one of the spirits upon completion of your character's trial.

While these instructions have been OOC, please reply ICly to this post in your character's designated area for mod response. Characters who responded to Lucy's post and are part of the 7 necessary will have a thread made for their trial. If you would like to play out between characters before/after that, feel free to make your own thread. Thank you!

If your character would not be capable of passing their Trial, notify a moderator ASAP so that we can let someone else come in to try!

[ When the feed crackles to life, Lucy and Natsu are present in the Bay, though Lucy's looking a little run down and then some. Bonding with Genessia's spirit and using its power alongside Natsu to rescue Everglade's spirit took more out of her than she thought. Still, she had to make sure to pass on this message. She musters a bright smile. ]

Thi...This is Lucy, of Fairy Tail. I don't know how many of you are able to see this in our current situation. We found Genessia's spirit - however, we were informed that someone was endangering Everglade's spirit.. that someone is Vlad. We were able to successfully rescue it before he could put the cities and their people in any more danger.

[ She put a hand to her forehead, almost dropping her device. Phew. Almost done. She cast a brief glance at Natsu before continuing. ]

About the spirits, and the barriers - the spirits told us what we need to do, and... I'm sorry, but we need volunteers - at least seven or more. In order to fix the barriers, anyone who volunteers will need to sacrifice something - a memory, a skill or ability, just like people who give up something to make subarchways. Please, anyone willing to help, please respond as soon as possible.

[ She's really not sure how much longer she's going to be able to stay conscious. But there, the feed ends and she sighs, sagging back to try to gather enough energy to make the trip back to Fayren. But she's willing to stay awake as long as she can for people who respond or have questions. ]

[ Private to Levy, Wendy, and Juvia ]
I hate to ask this of you, but...I don't think I'm going to be able to make it. Can you meet the volunteers outside the Inn and take them where they need to go? It's the Cloister of Trials in Fayren. [ She'll even give quick directions to said Cloister, courtesy of Genessia's spirit. ] I'll owe you..!

The first sign that something was going on that day hadn't been at the crack. It hadn't even been in Genessia, as a matter of fact. The first sign had been a sound not unlike a window shuddering in a heavy storm. It perforated the atmosphere within Everglade first.

Only a few moments later, Fayren would hear the same shudder echo through its forests, forcing birds to flee the cover of the trees. In the populated areas of the kingdom itself, it would be much quieter, as if it were miles away.

Then it would return to Genessia. The crack in the sky was rapidly saturated, thousands more than before forcing their whole shapeless bodies against the barrier. Some of the strange aurora-tinted color seems to press into their ranks, a few of the strange creatures being forced back, but quickly being replaced by another of its kind.

And a sickening crack could be heard in all archways near and far, but it was loudest in Everglade, where a new crack had formed. Two humongous cracks appeared in Everglade's barrier like a sinister grin as if it were laughing at the town just above the clocktower. The two cracks took only a couple of seconds more before the strange monstrous creatures burst small holes into that crack, not big enough to fit their bodies through at once.

The leaked through, dripping like poison from an apple out of that sneering mouth in the sky until the first of these creatures fell to the ground. The eager, hungry soul from before, whose abyss of a stomach had been shared with the whole of Genessia when he'd opened his misshapen jaw the first time a few days ago now looked from side to side in the streets of Everglade.

The first face he saw was that of an NPC, and he only saw it for a moment before launching himself at the man and pinning him to the ground. Some would recognize him as the grizzled owner of The Rabbit's Foot. A loud scream was put out from the man as the creature opened its jaw wide, but did not eat him. Nothing seemed to happen when his jaw was opened, as a matter of fact.

The creature closed its mouth slowly before standing upright on what seemed to be a two-legged form, though if it had arms they didn't take shape. It made a gesture as if it were cracking its neck as the man escaped quickly, locking the door to his shop behind him.

More of the creatures were piling into Everglade slowly but surely, but this one in particular caught sight of a local werewolf, someone with a pendant, a soul, and repeated his mauling, but this time- this time something happened. This time a strange, glowing mist seemed to pull out of the Everglade resident's body, a faint glimmer of aurora with it, and in a short time this person stopped screaming. They were still alive, but it didn't seem like there was anything... inside, really.

A hissing, victorious laughter left the creature and he moved on, heading toward Genessia's gate along with his oversized mouth pulled up into an eerie grin that reflected the crack in the sky. Those that had made it in through Everglade's crack followed suit.

They had to let the rest of their friends in through Genessia; it was only the polite thing to do.

[He can’t say he is really surprised with the outcome of any of the elections. Though he didn’t really prepare any sort of.. speech or anything.]

Congratulations to all of the Guardians, new and old. And thank you to those that put their faith into me by voting for me. To those that didn’t vote for me, I hope that I can make you think better of me by the end of my term. If not, then no big deal. It should be an interesting six months.

[He's got a few things in the works for this place.]

Feel free to contact me if you have any problems, and I will do my best to solve them. My communicator and door will always open to those in need or otherwise. To you other Guardians, I hope we can work well together over the coming months.

[With his victory in the Guardianship elections announced, Midboss' ego was well and truly sky high. When he starts the video feed, he can be seen reclining on his sofa at home, sipping from a glass of wine.]

Well, well, well! It would seem the people here recognise that I was truly the only candidate fit to reside over Attleton.

It is a great honour that my beautiful power, my capabilities and strength, continue to be given the credit they deserve - all others too intimidated to stand against the force that is The Dark Adonis Vyers!

Mais bien sûr, I shall endeavour to impress you further in the months to come. I welcome all of your congratulations and adoration, I have not left you so stunned that you find yourself speechless!

A truly glorious era will continue in Attleton, I shall make sure of it--

[Just as he is about to finish his grand speech, a flash of blue hair can be seen in the background, before a chair is thrown from the other side of the room, hitting Midboss squarely in the side of the head. The shock causes him to drop his communicator and spill his precious red wine all over the sofa.]

OWW!!!

[And as it hits the ground, the feed abruptly cuts.]

[Spirit has spent the last few months generally just going through the motions. The incident with Kefka and his puppets had shaken him far more than he was willing to admit, and he's kept very much to himself in its' wake. Working, entertaining a hungry Charlotte, keeping Stein from slicing random passers-by open and surreptitiously checking on Maka without seeming like a crazy person has taken up the bulk of his time. But he has been around just the same, even though he's been far from his usually chipper self.

Today is grocery shopping day. The kitchen cabinets are almost completely bare, seeing as Stein doesn't do the shopping and he's been avoiding it. It is here that the video feed starts, though the image is completely black--the phone is in his pocket. Muffled, if he's heard over the phone, is a sigh.]

Again? I feel like I just went for groceries. Probably should clean the cabinets out too, since the weather is getting warmer.

[He's clearly talking to himself, before finally:] Charlotte? Stein? I'm going to the store--do either of you want anything?

[A shape suggestive of a hand appears in the image of the video camera, and keys can be heard jangling just slightly as the video is turned off.]

[ooc: feel free to catch the video feed, or interact with Spirit on his adventures errands!]

06 April 2015 @ 02:02 am
[When Mikoshiba turns on the screen, he looks pleased with himself. His hair blows gently over his face in the wind, while he looks out to where the Bay used to be.] I've finally gotten sick of hearing everyone complain about the Bay missing, so I can explain what's going on. Just this once, so don't make me repeat myself!

This is what you would call a challenge event. You wouldn't collect just one ball in sports, so why would you bother to catch one star? [Because sports are normal. He's not comparing it to something to happen in a video game, not at all.]

Just like you'd get extra points at the end of a...sports...thing, if you manage to collect all the stars, or at least a certain amount of them, you'll probably get something cool. Like a sword or something. I was already here so I might as well try. [He shrugs, trying not to look nearly as excited as he actually is. This is his chance to get a legendary weapon! Which he will then keep in his room and never use.]

[That hole looks unsettling though. He stays away from it while he tries catching one of the lights. He has his sights set on one, but when it keeps evading him, he finally gets frustrated and puts his hands to his face to think. There's one nearby, so he runs after it, splashing through the water and trying to look as cool about it as he can. He finally manages to catch one, letting out a victorious shriek. But his excitement is short-lived when this memory (up to 2:26) plays. He falls down and seems to stare at nothing in particular, overcome with an elated feeling once it's over. Slowly, the euphoria fades, returning him to the present. He tilts his head down to look at his phone, otherwise still and mortified. It wasn't a bad memory, but it had been so real, enough to make him lose his composure in public. Realizing this, his eyes wide, and his face pales before brushing brightly. He scrambles to turn off his phone, his words equally rushed and panicked.]

Never...nevermind! Just stay away, it's a waste of time to try it!

[The labyrinth mess over, Midboss could be seen sitting in his Attleton home, a large glass of wine in one hand.]

It would seem as if that awful maze has finally disappeared from Attleton. If anyone was waiting to return to the city, now would be a good time.

Merci beaucoup, to everyone who assisted me in clearing up the monsters and helped rescue those who were caught in the maze itself. It was truly appreciated. A toast, if you will, to their fine efforts!

[He raises his glass, before taking a large sip.]

If there is anyone who was injured, or had their homes or property damaged as a result of what happened, do let me know and I will do what I am able to resolve it.

Also, I wish to know what any of you can tell me about the individual calling himself 'Mercury'. I am a very powerful man, of course, but should he make an appearance within Attleton, or if I come across him in the other cities, having an understanding of his capabilities would be most helpful.

I do not intend to let people like that run free.

 WHO: OPEN to anyone!
WHAT: Bridget finally notices the growth in her abilities.
WHERE: Dracula's Castle
WHEN: 2/19
WARNINGS: Explosions, nudity, language, tbd

[Action]

It might have been the day, it might have been the hour, it might have been the place... No, actually, it was all of the above. Bridget had simply wanted to enjoy the rather large and luxurious bathing chamber she'd found during her explorations of Dracula's ever-shifting castle. She'd thought her wards against entry on every inch of the room she'd been crashing in had been enough of a deterrent for the other 'residents' to get the idea she didn't want to socialize.

She'd been so very wrong... A trio of rather adventurous succubi had found her just about to discard her robe at the edge of one steaming bath. One had run her fingers down Bridget's spine, one had made a grab for her chest, and the third had poked a few times at the odd thing left on top of Bridget's towel. You know, just in case it was a toy.

The explosion took all four by surprise and a small section of the floating castle suddenly burst outwards in a rain of fire, rocks, and dead minions. At least most of the debris would fall on the empty castle ruins under the floating portion but the explosion was certainly loud enough to be heard through most of Everglade. Bridget didn't fall of course, she simply floated in the middle of a gaping hole that slowly started to rebuild itself. One of the random items she'd 'caught' happened to be her comm and it was still recording... Should anyone from the castle or perhaps a person from the little city with extremely good eyes happen to look hard, Bridget was floating in the middle of the newly empty space in just a thin robe and a very blank expression.

[The shot opened with a rather lovely woman with pale hair, skimpy clothing, and black wings looking into the camera with the sort of expression only the curious-bored could manage. Behind her is a lot of steam and several moving shapes obscured by the steam. That only lasts a moment before the view is suddenly engulfed by an explosion of red, white, and black. The picture spins and tumbles through the first few seconds before stabilizing into the wait while the dust and smoke clears a bit more.

At last the comm is starting to show a view of the darkening sky and what looks like an aerial view of Everglade. It is obviously floating in a void though considering the lack of anything now surrounding it.

After a long silence, there's a rather weighted sigh.]

I wonder if this is how he felt...  I must be more careful from now on.  I hope nobody was trying to explore those stupid ruins.

...........................I wonder if my room was damaged...

[It seems that she regained possession of the comm since it suddenly turned up to the stars and transmissions cut off.]

[Audio, very private to Dracula. She'll sound very depressed.]

I do apologize, Vlad. I meant to push them away and put a bit of a fire wall around me but... I ended up destroying everything within fifty yards. It seems I need to start exploring the boundaries of my abilities once more. There were no survivors within the area I effected.

[Audio, general]

Was anyone harmed by the explosion? I didn't feel any minds close by but it doesn't harm any to make sure.

[A very long pause.]

Does anyone have a spare set of shirt and skirt in medium or less? I'll give an unpolished gemstone for a skirt or tunic, and a free polish and cut if that bit of clothing is black. Or I do blacksmith work for potential trades.

06 February 2015 @ 07:43 pm
For some time now, Kefka's tower had sat comfortable in its little shell, unmoving, the monsters content to just attacking whoever was foolish enough to get too close. But something different was happening today. High above the tower, a brilliant ball of light was beginning to form, casting a golden hue on all it touched. On top of that the three statues at the corners of the triangular barrier looked little like statues any longer, and would even speak to any that drew near.

Something big was about to happen. The very air itself seemed charged with an unmistakable power that didn't need magical sensitivity to feel beating down from the orb overhead. Whatever was happening, any who saw the light knew that one way or another, it all ended today.

[OOC: Sub threads will be going up shortly.]

16 January 2015 @ 04:56 pm
[Audio, Public]

[Izanami had been exploring Genessia for sometime, but despite this, she'd come no closer to finding out the meaning of this world than she had since she first arrived. How annoying. For now, though, she needed to find work that would allow her to observe others here as best as she was able to. Perhaps that would give her the answers she needed...or at least, further her understanding of the people here, both humans and otherwise.

As it was, she decided, addressing the entire network by a video-link was not something that she was immediately comfortable with. Thus, she opened up an audio-feed, her voice that of her casual and androgynous disguised self.]

Hey. Anywhere hiring right now? I could really use a source of income.

[Action, locked to Dracula and the residents of Castlevania]

[After her conversation with Dracula three months ago, the Goddess had been intrigued by the offer of sanctuary within his halls. She did not desire his protection, nor did she share his utter hatred for humanity, but she had to at least see the place for herself.

...Besides, if he proved willing, it would be refreshing to have somewhere to stay where she didn't have to conceal her powers or identity. Perhaps she could prod him with more questions about humanity's motivations, as well. Their last debate had certainly been an interesting one.

And thus, she entered the Archway and waited.]

-----------------

[ or ACTION! ]
[ For being so horrifyingly lost and making a big deal about it in a series of multiple text messages, Salama's actual face as she wanders around seems relatively calm and.. focused on her device. Almost the entire time. It's questionable if she's even paying attention to where she's walking, really.

But after she's done with her series of tweets, she realizes there's only one solution that's going to keep her from.. well, dying out. Without any popularity here, it's going to be practically impossible to do this. So wherever she is- somewhere near a beach if the friendly otter meant anything- she puts her phone away and gathers a crowd. If there's one thing she knows how to do, she can at least entertain. Once she has a group of a few people, the bored look on her face disappears and she lights up a little more, doing a dance, then lighting little fires around the tips of her fingers, then leaving them in the air and drawing some things in the air with them before finishing her dance and posing.

She didn't have a hat or anything, so there are a couple of people throwing coins at her feet, but that's not the important part. A good part, but not the most important part. ]

Thank you, everyone!

[ She bows and waits for the crowd to disappear. Once it does, she's going to be on the move again. It'd probably be best to find a place to sleep soon. A few happy viewers would at least make sure she wasn't about to drop right away. ]

So much for resolving our differences between the DWMA and witches.

[ Here is a snowy-haired kid with red eyes, jagged teeth and a nearly permanent slouch. It's different than how he first woke up wrapped in something that seems uncomfortably close to Arachne's style -- a freaking cocoon, even if it was made of metal and silk but the fact he may have got tangled up in there might have contributed to that assumption -- but after a few minutes of freaking out off screen, he'd taken stock of his situation, gone over all the reading material... and decided it was all too weird to take at face value. Clearly, some witch didn't get the memo and was still probably fighting the good fight in the name of that dead Arachne lady. That's so lame. ]

What's your deal, Warlock Dresden guy?

[ Soul lifts Harry Dresden's magazine for newcomers and waves it lazily, wrongly assuming he'd been jumped by said wizard who oh so helpfully introduced himself simply because it was an easier way to explain his blackout than to take the reading material at face value. Reading material that, as far as he knows, came from a dubious source -- witches. ]

Don't you know Arachnophobia is old news? We're supposed to be allies or whatever, so lets just cut the crap and get me back to the Academy already.

[Eve had arrived over a week ago. She had time to look at the many beasts that loomed in all five cities. She had also heard from the monsters about the many things that had happen during the past few months. She's certainly intrigued. But more than anything, she's just pleased she has another world to let her children grow and be happy. However, she can also feel the presence of the angels in this world - not that she felt entirely threatened by them.

When the recording starts, everyone will hear some static before a young and slightly amused feminine voice speaks over it.]

Your father has left you.

Abandoned you in the hands of angels and spirits. But a mother never abandons her children. I'll show you.

WHO: Death the Kid, Maka Albarn, Spirit "Deathscythe" Albarn, and whoever else happens to show up!
WHAT: Maka and Kid stop by Spirit's apartment and discover a mess. This may or may not eventually lead to the adornment of apartments in Christmas decorations, it depends on how things go.
WHEN: December 7th
WHERE: Spirit's apartment
WARNINGS: Sometimes the meisters swear, idk.

"It's locked."

The two Meisters - one an athletic girl with her pale hair tied up in slender pigtails that fell to her shoulders, the other a sallow and gaunt youth with three white stripes in his own black hair - stood before the door leading into the apartment of one Deathscythe. Just down the hall from their own.

Death the Kid glanced at Maka, placed his hands behind his back and turned sharply away on a heel, coughing conspicuously.

"I'll give you to the count of three to open up, Spirit."

You know, just in case he's home.

Why knock when you have a vivacious young Meister willing to kick the door open, after all? So much more efficient than being patient!

26 November 2014 @ 06:37 pm
I think--

[Well, hello, Genessia, you done being nutso? If not, too bad, because Maka is here anyway rolling a ring back and forth on what looks to be a desk. Since when does she have a ring? Who knows, she wears gloves mostly so how would anyone know. What's she thinking? About that--]

I'm getting rusty doing all this hanging back stuff, I haven't fought with a weapon or even had a spar in a while. Guess I don't make much time for it with work.

[A pause.]

Bah, I'm just making excuses, I'm starting to sound as lazy as Soul. Anybody know about a place where weapons can be bought or something like that?

[Yep, that's...that's definitely a thing.]

A | Voice, Locked to Vyers

Hey, Vyers? I...need a favor.

B | Video/Action if you want to show up at the hospital

[When the feed turns on, Spirit is holding the camera at an odd angle. It's easily obvious that he's sitting in the hospital, and the redhead is also clearly not excited about it. One arm is tucked in a sling and peeking above the collar of his shirt are bandages. His encounter with Charlotte left him more banged up than he'd like to admit.

Regardless, he's bored--and not a fan of hospitals, either--so he smiles weakly.]
So...uh. Everyone doing all right after that snake monster was running amok around town?

[He pauses, and then chuckles tiredly.] Told you guys not to touch the cheese.

All around Genessia, the Guardians are up to their usual corruption. Thievery, explosives, arson, oh my! Who can we depend on when our very protectors endanger us so? If only someone had listened. But now it's too late. You sheeple have doomed us all.

[This will be the thread containing all the 'Guardians' doing hijinks. Will create more sub-threads as more baddies show up to do their stuff.]
