Hello, everyone~ humor a girl and answer a question for me: do you ever wonder what you'd be doing right now if you were never sent here? If you were still at home, but the same amount of time had passed?

[She's been wondering about this more and more about herself as of late. Her combined time in Exsilium and Genessia would put her at twenty years old, which means she either would have triumphed over the threat back home or been killed by it if she had never left. It's nothing something she likes to dwell on, but... here she is, doing just that, and deciding that getting some input from others might be the best thing for herself. Of course, she knows Jeb will fret over her for posting this--she'll just have to convince him that she's fine... as fine as she can be, anyway.]

My world? [Oh, she should have expected this.] Well, I think it could do with being a little less exciting, to be perfectly honest~!

So, been here long? I'm sure I would've remembered seeing a lovely lady like you here before.

Yeah, I guess I can relax a little in a place like this! It's a step up from where I was last time, too. [A tense pause.] ...that place was even more chaotic than home.

[Oh, the not-so-wonderful memories.]

I've been here for a few months, actually. I've been laying low for the most part, though. [Exsilium had taken a lot out of her, after all.] But that got pretty boring, so here I am!

[...well, not so much boring as depressing. Opening herself to dwelling is never a good idea, and she had done just that.]

I do admit that it is a question that has passed my mind once or twice. I wonder if time still moves by even when I'm not there and well... considering the situation back home it is not a thought that makes me happy.

If you're in a shitty situation back home, then I definitely can't blame you for not wanting time to move by there. [A brief pause and then, slightly hesitant:] So, do you have any ways of keeping yourself from dwelling too much on it?

Well.... I guess my new job will keep me very busy at least. After all being a City Guardian is a lot of work, so it should help in this case.

So you're one of the Guardians, eh? [A small sound of approval.] That should keep you busy, but it's a pretty noble job to have, you know?

That's right, only recently was I voted to become such a thing though. [She gives a small nod. It was, but she choose to do it because no one else was and also to protect those that need protecting.]

But I find it might be very fulfilling.

Being able to help others is always fulfilling, isn't it? [Tori laughs cheerfully, but she wishes she could be a little better in this regard.] It'll be tough, but I'm sure you'll do just fine~

Hm...well, last I remember at home was school being out for summer holiday. I suppose I would be with the Professor. I'm his apprentice! Though when the semester is over he mostly does research if we haven't a request to investigate something.

[Luke says this all cheerfully, but he looks almost sad. He is still a kid... and he is homesick.]

[Oh, it's a kid. A kid who looks just a little troubled too, despite his happy tone. Tori's expression softens--she'll actually put in effort to tread carefully, here.]

An apprentice, huh? That sounds pretty impressive. What sort of investigations do you do?

Mmhm!

[He smiles, but it doesn't quite reach his eyes. It's more for show than anything else.]

Lots of things. A lot of times it's old acquaintances of his, asking him to look into something. We investigated a treasure for a family when the head of the family passed away, and a "Future London", and a strange city where people believed in magic and witches...

[Talking this through didn't cheer him up, but he forces the smile to stay on his face.]

What do you do at home, miss?

That sounds like a lot of work and responsibility, but also really fun.

[She tries not to frown, but to her it's pretty obvious that he's forcing the cheer. She's more than willing to go into a little detail about her own world if it'll take his mind off it--maybe asking what she did really hadn't been treading carefully enough. The problem was that her life had become chaotic before she had been taken to Exsilium and then here to Genessia. She'll stick to the mundane things for now...]

Me? Well, back home I was a student. I spent a lot of time with my friends when I wasn't busy with school, too. I also designed and made a lot of clothes, both for myself and the people closest to me! I'm into fashion design, so it was really good practice~!

At times like these, I really have to wonder if the age gap between us is bigger than it used to be, too. I mean, I was nineteen when I left Exsilium. I'm twenty now. If we were back home, I... [Well, maybe she shouldn't finish that train of thought.]

I'm eighteen...so it's not that big of a gap! I mean, two years isn't so much bigger than one year! [Twenty, yes...the age Donovan said she wouldn't live past if he could help it. Jeb doesn't like thinking about it either...for this reason he almost wishes they could stay here a while even if he does miss their home.]
