2nd Ruelle // [Video]

[When the video starts, the Ci Xeneth princess seems a little bit nervous; Or more so than normal at least.]

H-hello... I've been around for a few months but if you don't know me [which comes as no surprise] my name is Falan and back home I'm the princess of Ci Xeneth. Since I'm here, that title means nothing nor do I intend on trying to use that to receive any special treatment.

However, I've been thinking about a job that I could do here. I have been helping out at the hospital as a nurse, but a friend mentioned that I should try to take up teaching.

So if there's anybody who'd be interested in learning about proper manners or just any other sort of lessons that being a Princess consists of, I would love to share what I have learned over the years in my own experience.

I... can't say that... I know if I'll be that great of a teacher, but I'd love to share what I've learned if I can.

[Gosh, did this even come out the way she wanted it to...? Apparently by the look of her flustered cheeks, she seems to be uncertain.]

[Somehow, this was the first time Zelos had heard of her position in her homeworld - probably because status in their former lives was something he never willingly discussed.

Zelos lay back on his bed, fiddling with the communicator a moment as he tried to read her feelings on her position. It didn't seem either overly negative or overly positive...hm.

Truth be told...he wasn't sure what to think about this.

He hated to talk - or even think - about his former life, but...this was Falan. Tentatively, he sent an anonymous message. At least that way she couldn't trace it back to him.]

Nope, noble titles don't mean anything here. No status, no nothing. Wouldn't have it any other way.

...Did you hate it?

[Which is funny because she's not once kept it a secret. Maybe it was just because Ishtar was also a princess and Duzell often referred to Ishtar as "Princess"? There was also the fact that the other two knew of her status already.]

It's simply a title. I have no reason to use it here aside for maybe lessons. It's taken me a while to really try to do things for myself as to what my father did for me, but I'm slowly learning.

But... No. I didn't hate it. I've been very blessed to have a loving father who sheltered me from the world. I didn't realize how much he had sheltered me until he passed away, though. It... sort of gives you a new perspective on life.

[Part of him just assumed 'Princess' was an affectionate nickname. Perhaps it's because these two didn't seem nearly as obnoxious as the nobles he was used to.]

Titles still have a way of screwing you over though, don't you think? Like you said, it doesn't mean anything here...no point flagging it up. Gotta say I prefer no one knowing, but that's just me.

[He couldn't help but wonder what her relationship with her father was like.]

It's not so bad. I've never really had it rough or anything. My father took good care of me and he loved me dearly. He seemed distant for a while and it worried me, but aside from that I didn't have such a bad life.

He did, but it's okay. There are things in this life that you can't help nor change... I miss him, despite how weird he was acting near the end of his time, but I suddenly realize everything he's really done for me.

As long as I have Ishtar in my life and the others who care about me, I'll be okay.

Sounds like he kept you out the worst of it. High society's pretty toxic most of the time...you deserve better than that.

[At least it sounded like she didn't suffer too much with her title, although what she said about her father's behaviour bothered him. Falan was a sweet girl, and deserved parents who cared about her, not like him.]

Yeah, seems pretty pointless to try and change stuff like that. You always get the idealists who insist things way out of their league can be changed, but in the end, they never really get very far.

...If you've got people who care looking out for you, you should be alright.

Yeah, for the most part... There's still a lot of questions to be answered back home and things need to be sorted out now that my father is no longer with us and my half-brother is insistent that he doesn't want the throne.

[But man, was that just another can of worms there...]

So I really don't know what's going to happen. My father was insistent that he should take over, but he doesn't want to. And then here I'm wavering because I don't know what's going on with Illsaide....

There always are. Least where I'm from I won't have to be the one to answer them. Usually those sorts of questions don't exactly have a right answer, but people try to find it anyway.

[He didn't have a life to go back to. Right now, he was really glad Falan couldn't tell he was the one writing this...however much it surprised him she was willing to share this much with a stranger.

Might as well return the favour.]

It's ironic you say that really. Now I'm gone, my half-sister'll take my place. About the only thing I've ever done right - she'll do a much better job of it.

Sounds like your half-brother was more vocal about this feelings than I ever was, though. Not that I was ever King, mind, but pretty close.

...Illsaide? Guessing that's either another country, or a friend of yours.

Illsaide is my half-brother.. He's been... distant lately. Before he disappeared, he was starting to be more and more distant.

You ever think he was getting distant because he didn't want to inherit? Or maybe it was for your sake, weird as that sounds.

... Did you hate him for it?

[It felt a little strange. Since his and Seles' mother died, he'd grown very distant from his half sister - and her from him. She hated him, in his mind. She knew that all the misery in her life was his fault.

In some ways... it almost felt like he could be talking to her right now.]

No. I didn't hate him for it and I still don't til this day. I've always loved him, even if the love I feel for him now is different. I just.... I miss him terribly. I just wish he would have talked to me about it...

Even though he got distant from you the whole time, you still didn't ever hate him? Sounds...sounds like he was a better brother than I ever was. Heh.

Doubt it would've helped if I told her the truth. She'll be happier now I'm not making her life a misery at least.

[Zelos felt his hands shaking as he typed, a pang of guilt running through him. He did this for her. His life was a joke, but he at least wanted to make his sister happy, and giving it up was the best way to do that.

...But...deep down, even though it would just make things worse, even though she would call him out on being a stupid, waste-of-space Chosen...he missed her so much, he wanted to see her. Falan talking about her brother that way just dragged all those feelings up to the surface.

It was only then he realised what he'd been saying. Damn, that had got out of hand. Quickly, he picked something out of Falan's message he hoped would divert her attention.]

He's a pretty lucky guy to have a sister like you, you know?

Actually... I would really be interested if you're willing to teach stuff like that. Even if the ranking system is a bit different it would probably be a good idea to learn about what to expect from living in palaces. But... I only recently arrived here so I'm not really sure if I could pay much.

That would be okay. I just had a friend point out that I would be good at it, so I thought I'd give it a try.

A friend? [He's going to smile a bit more openly now.] I wish I could have arrived with Sanshi or Gouran, but it doesn't seem that they have made it here. But all the same, I would like to know what kind of precautions I should make. If we meet in person I should tell you that any sort of blood is poison to me. [Cause you're a normal girl! And normal girl things happen when immortal care-taker girls is what he's gotten used to over the last year.]

Oh, Ci Xeneth is my kingdom back home. It's no surprise that others here wouldn't know about it.

Not somewhere I'm familiar with...

I'm assuming it is not located anywhere near Japan, then?

I'm not sure. I've never heard of Japan before.
