Ted didn't want to reveal the magnificence of his costume so early. But Raye, that witch, had forced his hand.

Gallantly he approached the temple, confident in the cleverness of his ruse. For one, he had come an hour earlier, hoping to take Raye for surprise. For two, his disguise as a beige knight with armor of blue, wielding a large, but cumbersome kite shield. Thank goodness the weather was cooler around the fall. And lastly, his voice would be muffled thanks to the helmet. A flawless act, surely.

That helmet did make it a lot harder to see, however. How on earth did knights see through these tiny visors? Whatever. Raye had, essentially, challenged him on his claims of Guardianship. If he could meet justice, he could meet this brat.

So, he approached the shrine. "Is this the residence of Maye Hino? I was instructed to come here by thine holy writ."

The beautiful young priestess was looking...less than pristine. She was exhausted, but angry, and that combination served to make her stay up all night, broom in hand prepared to deliver swift and brutal justice to any unwanted trespassers.

It was just the one, really.

Her hair was unkempt, her eyes dark and tired as she sat stubbornly hunched on the top step. No one was allowed to talk to her like that, and then expect to be welcomed gladly on her turf.

The heavy clank of armor made her stiffen, glowering blearily through the morning mist. When she realized some sort of warrior was striding confidently onto the shrine grounds, her eyes narrowed. Was that him?

He spoke, and though his voice echoed tinny and hollow in the helmet, she recognized him immediately. He wore armor? THAT WAS SO ANNOYING!

She stood to her feet, glared, then went inside and shut the door, locking it. Go home, weirdo.

Ted did catch a glimpse of that haggard harridan. He couldn't really believe that he had annoyed someone into sleeplessness; it was too ridiculous for a winsome personality like his. Still, maybe now wasn't the best time for his antics.

Ah, what the hell. Go for broke!

Clanking clumsily, Ted got closer to the shrine. He tried to speak more imperiously. "I can now see, upon closer inspection, that this is a heathen shrine. A beam in God's eye; an affront to all Christendom. In the name of Saint Jean, I shall hallow this unhallowed ground. I would not recommend staying there, fair maiden, for the fires of hell will soon rise up and claim its own. I shall burn this place, and salt the earth."

Ted took out one of those fake fires kitschy people buy near the 4th of July. It was a deluxe model, complete with realistic bonfire sound effects. He set it on the ground, cranked up the volume, and waited.
