Shadaloo and You
Genessia was in for several shocks. The first of these was when their favorite television programs were arrested in favor of something a little more...red. After the initial static, the image became clear as the inner workings of a tv studio appeared. Suddenly, an ovular, shadowy void appeared in the middle, followed by a bulky, cloaked figure emerging.
It was M. Bison.
"Greetings, worms! It is I, your future ruler and master, M. Bison. I hope you've enjoyed your holidays, for all that is about to end. For New Year's, I've resolved to usher in a new era of pain and suffering. To start with, I will show you the futility of your precious Guardians as they fail to save your city from destruction. Genessia city, to be precise. Channels 3-8 will allow all of you to see your fragile metropolis crumble before your eyes."
To elaborate, each of those channels showed the following:
3. Jack's Bar and Karaoke Club is looking both lively and dead. There's disco musing blaring in the background, but no one's dancing. In fact, all the patrons gaze at a large disco ball on the ceiling, held in a stupor. A muscular man with boxing gloves sits in a chair, grumbling. "Buncha stiffs. What good will brainwashing these punks do?"
4. A Korean woman with skimpy clothing, and a yin-yang symbol in her left eye is seen hunched on the ground, next to the hospital. She gets up to reveal that she has just finished planting C4 charges. With a wicked grin, she turns to the camera, and tosses a detonator up and down. "Come and get it, losers!"
5. The hum and whirr of machinery presents itself to your ears as you see a masked figure with a large claw attached to his arm. To the mechanically astute, they'll recognize it as the Genessia Power Plant. He walks lazily to a control panel, apparently a pretty important one. "How will these hideous wretches survive the cold without power? Feh. Let these ugly flowers wilt." With a gleam, he raises his claw, before cutting the feed.
6. This one's a split screen. On the left, one can see some citizens bound and gagged, next to a strange device they all look very afraid of. It's making a beeping noise. On the right, one gets a glimpse of the coliseum in Attleton. A very large man with an eyepatch has brutally smashed his knee in a would-be contestor. As he crumples to the ground, He turns to the camera. "Weak! Is this truly all your pathetic city has to offer! If you wish to unseat the king, you will have to do better than that!" Looking closer, you can see a device strapped to his chest similar to the one on the previous screen. Perhaps they're connected...
7. Rushing water can be heard as vats of an unknown chemical are moved to and fro by two women, wearing something between a jumpsuit and a sweater. By the dingy look of things, this must be the sewers. More specifically, the water treatment plant.
8. A normal looking suburb, aside from the fact that people are running and screaming. The source of their fear? A large, 2-ton freak with a humanoid form, raging and smashing without the barest trace of intellect or control.
Back to channel 2, Bison was there with an evil grin of his own. "Are you frightened, weaklings? You should be. For I present a nightmare without end. And for dessert, I challenge Captain Hammer himself to display his impotence in the face of this terror for all to see. Don't keep me waiting. Mwuh heh heh heh heh..."
OOC: It begins! In case you couldn't tell, here are the people and their matchups.
Channel 2: Bison & C. Hammer
Channel 3: Balrog & Yang
Channel 4: Juri & Open!
Channel 5: Vega & Blake
Channel 6: Cherise & Sagat
Channel 7: Juni & Juli, Ruby & Janos
Channel 8: Big, rampaging monster and open!
These aren't set in stone. If your characters wanna gang up on one of the Lords of Shadaloo, by all means! Know, however, that Bison may have to beef up security in kind. Okay it with the original people first, of course, in case they'd prefer a one-on-one. If you don't care for the people and just wanna go to town on some Shadaloo mooks, that works too.
With regards to winning and losing, it's up to you! We can play it out naturally, but I don't mind getting whooped, or succeeding and doing some heavy damage to Genessia's infrastructure.
When you're ready to step into the ring, comment with your characters in the appropriate section.

For some reason, Vega speaking her name like that just served to make her skin crawl and she adjusted her grip on her weapons.
"You just answered your own question. Give up now, and I won't have to hurt you."

Sheen! He put on his mask, and held his claw up to his face. Through it, he looked at her bow. What a garish ornament for an otherwise fine young woman with an unfortunate name. "And the best way to cultivate flowers is in a pool of blood."
With a yelp somewhere between Bruce Lee and a matador, he leapt from machine to machine, darting from the metal edifices with ninja swiftness. "Heeyao!"

Blake's in the air a second after him, albeit without a goofy shout of her own, and leaving trails of afterimages in her wake. The dance continues for a few seconds before she makes her move, darting across into his path and swinging both blades for him.

He shook his head and tried to regain consciousness, refocusing his vision. He'd not soon forgive battering his perfect body. But speaking of bodies, what was going on with her head?

And that's when she spotted the strip of fabric held in his hand. Her eyes widened slightly. When had he done that? Why had he done that?
Then the surprise passed and her eyes narrowed, Faunus ears flattening against her head. This was her chance. She converted Gambol Shroud to its scythe form, drew her arm back to strike and remembered her training.
Never hesitate in finishing off an opponent. When you see a chance, strike, go for the kill. Especially....
Blake paused, grip tightening on her weapons as something stayed her hand.
... Especially against a human.

Whatever the reason, her moment of hesitation allowed him to compose himself, and behold her true shape.
Vega was horrified. He seemed almost betrayed.
"You...you wretch! Ugly freaks like you don't deserve to breath the same air as me! You're no flower, you're a weed! I'll cut you down!"
He darted to a switch, and flipped it. Lights blinked out, one by one as a "whooo..." indicated that the facility was shutting down. Genessia still had power, but this location did not.
He adjusted the infrared sensors in his mask. The darkness was both to secure a tactical advantage and to assure that the miserable sight of her wouldn't mar his eyes.

It's only for a second, but it's enough time for Vega to get to the console and kill the lights.
"Tch...." Stupid. Letting somebody like that get to her that way. Immediately she dropped into a low crouch, both blades up and ready.
Blake didn't have infrared vision, but she did have a few advantages in the dark. Sharp night vision being one of them and even better hearing.
Her Faunus ears perk up and swivel around, scanning for the sounds of movement coming her way. She didn't know where Vega had run off to, so for now, she'd stay where she was and give him a target to come to.

"The shadow suits you, vermin." *leap, pounce* "I wonder what kind of noise a monster like yourself will make when it dies? I long to hear your vile form of death throe."

She spins around toward the sound of his voice, catching a glimpse of movement through the darkness. Then he's taunting her again and her teeth grit, as that familiar anger wells up inside her. No, she can tune it out, she's heard it all before, been called "it" more times than she cared to count. It didn't--
She paused. Wait, all of those insults. Calling her ugly, vermin, vile, and that mirror. Maybe....
It was a long shot, but she'd take it.
"Hmf. Are you really one to talk?" Another flicker of movement and she turned toward it. "Or is that what that mask is for, to hide that ugly mess you call a face?"
no subject
"My face is something a tabby like you could never comprehend. But don't worry; your blood will only add to its beauty." Confident in his victory, he drew his claw slowly to slash her to ribbons once and for all.

Her Aura sparked with each hit, diminishing a little more each time until one powerful blow finally staggered her to one knee. And that was how Vega found her when he came in for the kill, those claws coming down to sink into her back....
And then she moved becoming a blur of speed, throwing her ribbon around his arm to immobilize those claws and then looping it around his neck.
Assuming she managed that, her next step would be to drop over the railing to her side and let her weight pull the ribbon tight around his throat.

He had given her everything she needed to set this trap, she'd heard it all in his voice and words. The sadistic eagerness in the way he'd talked about killing her, almost poetic. A person like that would never let an opponent die easily, they would take their time, savor it, make it slow. It had only been a matter of giving him the bait he wanted.
Now all she had to do to purge him from the world, to get rid of some of the worst of everything she'd ever hated, was nothing. Just hold on and wait... and then all she'd have to do was live with herself for it.
She waited until the struggles stopped and went quiet and then, with a grunt of effort, dragged Vega back over the side and looped the ribbon around his arms and legs to bind him tightly.
"You should have known better." She said, standing back and heading toward the switch to restore power to the building. "A cornered monster is the most dangerous kind."

"How dare a thing like you taunt someone as beautiful as me!" His words were tinged with a bit of hysteria. Part of it was the absolute shame a narcissist feels when he loses. Part of it were his secret fears. Fears that the ugly would always take advantage of the beautiful, like him. What horrors would this thing unleash upon him now that it had it in its mangy paw? Vega's mind raced.

At Vega's struggling and shouting, she took out her communicator, preparing to send a message that she had managed to capture one of the invaders, but paused. After a moment, she put it away and walked slowly back toward him to crouch down a short distance away, to get a better look at him.
"It must be difficult for you, being at the mercy of a 'thing' like me." Her eyes narrowed, her hands curling into fists. "Growing up, I always wondered what people like you looked like up close. And now I know."
no subject
"Don't you dare patronize me, vermin. You could never comprehend the beauty of someone like me!" His tone became more wildly interrogative. "You want to do violence to me, don't you! To mar a beauty so hopelessly beyond your own, you can only lash out in envy. You can't help it, it's in your blood. But release me, girl, and I can free you from that same blood."
no subject
It wasn't greed or anger or lust that she looked back at him with either. Nor was it hate. The truth was, she couldn't help but pity him a little, no matter how hateful he might be. He was just... broken. Empty.
"No. No, I don't want to do any of those things to you." She stood slowly, taking out her communicator again. "I'm not like you."
And she stepped over him, walking away with her back turned to him to speak into the device.
"This is Blake. I've captured one of them and could use a pickup."
