My motel room's thermostat broke three days ago. The manager said it would be fixed by yesterday. I would normally take it that it would be fixed by yesterday so I guess my real question is: who do I complain to about motel managers who don't get the heat fixed when they say they will?

[ This all comes from Emerald, who is currently making this call wrapped in multiple blankets. Which is probably explained a moment later she follows up with a dismissive: ]

Mmeh, at least they gave me these extra blankets.

[ "Gave" is a loose term here. She may have borrowed them without permission from the housekeeping carts. Two or three of them. But who's really counting? Probably the manager but he doesn't know who has them, no harm, and if he can't fix the heating? She deserves more blankets. ...It would probably help if she had something to wear besides a shirt containing no more fabric than a sports bra and a pair of capris. It really would. ]

Obviously you threaten them until they get it done properly. That's just lazy, irresponsible and frankly, disgusting. From the feel of the weather, it will certainly be cold enough that you'll freeze to death in that so called attire of yours.

The authorities won't care about sleazy motel managers, but the library has resources on hypothermia if you want to be educated as you die. Alternatively, you could put on some freaking clothes.

If I had any interest in disobeying Cinder, I would've done more than threaten. It would've been a nice way to keep warm.

Well clearly that means you need to actually look around for clothes instead of the shreds of fabric you wear.

I don't believe there is anyone you can complain to, but you can call someone else who could fix it much quicker if the manager won't do it.

[In her case she didn't have to back home since it was an old fashioned inn, but they always made sure that the customer always went out happy.]

That's a great idea, but I'm not made of money. The manager should be taking care of it.

[ Granted, she could easily get the money she needed for that but she probably shouldn't. Not her way anyway. ]

Unless you know someone willing to do pro bono heating.

Usually hotel managers have places they would call should they not be able to do it themselves. That would mean it would be cheaper to go through the manager, but I'm sure I could try and pull some strings if it gets worse.

I don't work there but I know how things are run.

I can make you more blankets should you want them. it's not very nice for Mister Manager to keep you waiting like this in the cold.

I haven't been here long enough to have seen for myself, but considering this place has actual seasons, I'm guessing pretty cold.

How cold is "pretty cold?" I'm used to wearing clothing like this:

It's only barely making the cut right now.

[ She's not against wearing more clothing, but she can't exactly go on a shopping spree with money she's not supposed to have. ]

[ Don't judge her clothing, it's wicked hot where she (probably) comes from. Though making him uncomfortable is kind of amusing. ]

The little lady's got a point! There's plenty of fine clothing establishments around here. You could even pay them if you're that worried about your cover, but you can't stay inside forever and you can't wear blankets around town.

[He pauses, then cringes. He was joking but her taste is so horrible that she might actually consider that.]

Please don't wear blankets around town. Your undercover mission will end eventually, and I won't be associated with 'that girl who wore blankets all winter.'

I don't dress like I'm freezing when it's not freezing. What a crime.

[Folding her arms across her chest, her brows quirk at Emerald's little speech. Did she really just ask the crime boss of the underworld how to get clothes all while keeping her nose clean?

Rolling her eyes up, she tilts her head and gazes up at Torchwick with an expression pretty much akin 'is dis bitch serious?'. If anything, Neo can at least change her appearance for such a little crime shopping spree but eh, she waits for Roman's okay with it before even thinking of offering her help to anyone else.]

[Roman catches Neo's look and his face lights up. An opportunity to put Emerald in his debt, rub his professional skills in her face, and dress her up in ridiculous clothes? What could he possibly object to?

He turns back to the video feed with a cat-got-the-canary grin and steeples his fingers.]

I imagine Neo and I can help with that. We teammates have to look after each other, right?

[ he sneaks a peek back at her, and seeing that she's covered by the blanket again, he heaves a sigh of relief and turns back to her. ]

[Since she didn't know enough people here like she probably would have back home. But she now had inn brain on so it meant she was going to at least try and was currently thinking of the places she had seen.]

Though I wonder why the manager hasn't done it when he said he would. That just seems like a very bad idea. After all you are meant to make the customer happy so that they would come back more and more.

If you're staring and thinking impolite things maybe. These are my normal clothes.

I guess after so many blankets they can get heavy. But even so they are very helpful to keep one warm.

You're the one opening a blanket over the network for some guy you don't know!
