2nd Heist- log [OPEN]
WHO: Roman, Neo, Betelgeuse, and YOU
WHAT: Your friendly neighborhood troublemakers are robbing a jeweler's.
WHEN: December 3rd
WHERE: Fayren
WARNINGS: Potential for language and violence
After sunset the air had gone from pleasantly crisp to painfully cold and clouds smothered the moon. On a night like this, any reasonable person would be sipping hot cocoa in front of a roaring fire. That only means one thing, as far as Roman's concerned: fewer witnesses.
Usually he prefers a good audience. He has a reputation to uphold, you know? Can't maintain a reign of terror if there's no one around to terrify. But tonight he could do with a little subtlety. He's only got two accomplices, and Cinder will probably kill him if he causes too much of a fuss.
He ducks down a back alley, gingerly picking his way around dumpsters and loose cobblestones before stopping in front of a small but heavily reinforced back door.
"This is the place." He spins a ring of lockpicks around his finger. "There's a couple of ways we could get in, but my method's the least interesting." He glances over at Betelguese. "Is it true that ghosts can walk through walls?"
Neo can always teleport them if necessary, but there's no need to reveal that trick just yet.
((OOC: This is open to everyone, but after one or two heroes show up I'm closing it so we don't end up with a big clusterfuck of contradictory threads.))

"Sure, it's not like I have an actual body...at least not in the living sense. Any alarms I need to take care of, before I open the door?"
no subject
She had followed The boss' lead all the way from their hideaway to the door. Multicolored eyes glanced up along the doorway to see if there were any sort of alarm devices or cameras that could quickly be dispersed of.
Step by step she followed to what looked like a power source outside, powering the building's electricity, no doubt. She shot a glance over to the duo and motioned to her discovery. Seemed like they would need to be a little extra careful.

"Hey, bud, ya wanna take a quick nap? We need the place power-free for a few minutes, while we, y'know, take care of a few things."
no subject
"Well, that's unfortunate." He couldn't help giving Neo a light elbow to the ribs and a flash of a smirk, which faded into confusion because Betelgeuse was... talking to the power supply.
Huh. He might owe Neo an apology for choosing this nut job after all.
"What exactly are you doing?"

Roman finally came to her rescue, sort of. The nudge he gave her was met with a sigh and scoff, closing of her umbrella with a hand kept tight on the hilt in case she needed the blade inside.
Curiosity did paint itself on her face, eyes flickering from pink and brown to brown and pink, back to both brown as she studied Betelgeuse. At least THAT was interesting enough to make her lean in though still slightly hidden behind Roman.

"Heh. You just gotta know how to ask."

Roman spend a second looking from the power supply to the dead guy, caught somewhere between shock and suspicion. There is no way that worked. He was just getting used to the idea that ghosts were real, and maybe he could admit they had some kind of crazy magic, but he was not ready for a world in which you could negotiate with a power supply.
"You might be the weirdest person I've met," he said finally. "And considering some of the people I know..." He gave a not-so-subtle glance at Neo and her ever-changing eyes. "That is saying something."
no subject
"What've I got to do to turn that might to definitely?" Betelgeuse asked, gleefully. "Wasn't anything but a bit of animation and possession, buddy. So, what now?"
no subject
It wasn't so much distrust as it was just paranoia at something sporadic happening especially when the Ghost was able to so willingly talk to the electricity. This world was getting weirder and weirder.
That little jab at her made the small girl shoot up a deadpan look of annoyance. He should really be one to talk but their secrets were best kept between them. Like his daily morning groom where he spends more time than her doing his hair and eye makeup.
Turning from the duo, eyes once more flickering back to the pink and brown combo, she followed the trail back to the door pointing to the knob. That, that was their next course of action but she still held an air of skepticism about the power really being down.

Roman squinted at the power supply for a moment longer. He wasn't 100% convinced either, but what was the worst that could happen? They might trip a few alarms, and maybe their night got a little more interesting. They could handle it. He sauntered back to the door and began working at the lock.
"And don't give me that look, Neo. Have you checked a mirror lately? It doesn't take a genius to see you're not exactly a Plain Jane."
The last tumbler clicked into place. He smiled and swept the door open, gesturing into the dark backroom.
"Ladies first."

Arching her brow at the two of them as they offer her entrance first, she certainly knows their intents are hardly what they disguise them to be. If she's first, then whatever happens, happens first to her. Be it a shot, an alarm, a camera still on.
Tipping her head, she glanced in to the darkness and saw no sign of lights indicating there were cameras, but, in a world where guns are everywhere, she takes a cautious step.
Turning back to the alley, she nudges a can with her foot. One little bounce on the toe of her boot, and then another a little higher this time, and then another, much higher of a kick and Neo fluidly bends backwards.
In a flip, she does a backwards cartwheel, hitting the can in mid air and sends it sailing through the darkness only to be greeted with a clank CLANK and roll. Then, silence. Good, so there weren't guns or motion detectors.
Smoothing her jacket, she hung her umbrella off her arm and casually walked past the pair in to the store without a worry or care.

"Such a show-off," he said, but his grin gave him away. He loved watching her work.
He pulled a dim flashlight from his pocket and scanned the back room. Dusty broom closet, a stately-looking door that probably led to the front, and an impressively disorganized jeweler's bench buried in an array of tools and paperwork. He plucked a graver from the top of the mess and prodded at a pile of metal filings.
"You know, this place looked a lot swankier from the front of the house."

Glancing at Betelgeuse, she arched her brows at the fact that he was correct in that thinking. She looked around for anything that looked like it could possibly hide a safe.
Cliche as it may be, Neo slid her fingers carefully along a painting and lifted it carefully, spotting a knob dial and numbers.
With a small whistle, she motioned for the two over to her.

"Well, they kinda deserve to get robbed. No imagination. It makes me sad," he claimed, making an exaggeratedly sorrowful face. "Well, pop it open and let's see the goodies!"
no subject
"Even if it's the work area, they should put some effort into it. Doesn't anyone take pride in their work anymore?"
Apparently not, if they hid their safe behind a painting. They definitely deserved to be robbed. He'd gladly rob them either way, but now he could say he was doing them a favor by giving them a lesson in proper security. He bent down and studied the safe door, thinking aloud.
"Not a bad build for a place with shoddy security. It'd be tough to bust this open. Not impossible, but..." He spun the dial back and forth, pulling gently on it to feel for points with extra resistance. "Yup, cracking it will be easier."
He stood back with a smile and ruffled Neo's hair.
"Time me, Neo. If it takes me longer than 90 seconds, I'll buy you both drinks."
