7th Love // [Action]

WHO: Flonne & Laharl [and Vyers if he wants to ease drop]
WHAT: Flonne decided it was just better to confess her feelings and roll with the punches.
WHEN: December 4th
WHERE: Their apartment
WARNINGS: Cute fluffy feels??? Possible accidental property damage depending on Laharl's reaction.

For Flonne, preaching about love has always been second nature for her. The moment someone so much as mentioned something to do with love, her eyes would light up like the forth of July. What the fuck is that though, right? Love is an amazing thing and even as a fallen angel she still fully believes in that.

But what about when it has to deal with her own emotions? Ever since she actually realized just how much she loved Laharl, she'd been avoiding home as much as possible. Vyers had mentioned that it was possible that Laharl felt the same way and just simply buried it under everything he could due to his nature. It was all speculation, but it made one thing clear.

This didn't just pop up over night. Deep down inside, she knew she's loved Laharl for a long time. Maybe even around the time they first met? When did it actually start to develop? Deep down she knew; She just didn't allow herself to see it for herself. Dealing with Lucifer really made her realize, but not enough to really understand. The thought of Laharl fighting Lucifer terrified her. After Vyers had his wings ripped off like it was nothing and nearly killed, it scared her. She'd nearly passed out -- or maybe she did -- trying to heal Vyers.

The moment she saw Vyers like that she was scared. The moment Laharl declared he was going to fight Lucifer it didn't just scare her. It terrified her. She didn't want him to get killed. The thought of Laharl dying was enough to cause complex knots in her stomach. She wouldn't be able to pull herself from that sadness. He meant so much to her. He couldn't die on her. She knew how strong he was, but Flonne knew limits.

Talking to Fai had helped a lot when she had been avoiding home by working all the time. Fai may not have had any idea of how much his words helped her. It hurt. She loved Laharl, but she was the first person to know that Laharl didn't believe in love. She knew all about the reasons why at this point. She understood why, but it was painful. What good would it do to love Laharl if she knew he'd probably never really love her or anyone else back? She was the first person to know all about it since she had followed him for the purpose of making him believe.

Finding herself outside by his door, she spent several minutes staring at the door. Except she wasn't her usual self. There was no smile on her face. It just portrayed sadness, hurt, and worry. She told herself she would just get it over with and pick up the pieces to her broken heart afterward to move on. She was so convinced that he'd just call her stupid for having said feelings and turn her away. Just like usual. Taking a deep breath before finally moving her hand, she managed to get herself to knock on his door. Except it was a very soft knocking due to her nerves.

"Laharl-san.... I... Can we talk?" her voice was soft and almost hard to hear. It lacked her usual pep and confidence. Here goes nothing right?

Laharl had been sleeping for the most part since the whole thing with Spirit blew up into... well, what it blew up into. However, even that afforded him precious little respite from his own thoughts. As such, he was indeed awake when Flonne knocked and he went over and opened the door before returning to the chair he'd been sitting in.

"What do you want?"

Laharl sighed, glancing off to the side so as to look anywhere but at her. He knew what was coming just from how she fidgeted. He knew her that well... he'd cared that much to learn about her. Still, that didn't make any of this any easier.

"Just say it already then."

Laharl was quiet for a long time. His hand gripped the arm of the chair, slowly crushing the end of it in his palm.

"Is that all?" He still refused to look at her. How could he though? The feelings he felt when Lamington had supposedly taken her from him came flooding back. The thought of losing her was... unbearable. He knew how he felt about her but... he couldn't reconcile it with being an Overlord.

"I knew that already... and what scares me the most..." He just trails off, not able to form the words. Not yet anyway.

"I figured it out back in the Gehenna Plains... You're not exactly subtle."

He clenched his fist, finally shattering the ball of wood in his palm, sending splinters flying. Again he's silent for a good couple minutes. Every time he thought he found the words, they only died in his throat. Finally, he found his voice again.

"When we confronted Lamington... when he turned you into a flower... I nearly killed him. I wanted to with every fiber of my being I wanted that bastard dead. Not because he played me, not because he allowed Vulcanus to goad the humans into invading... I slaughtered everything between him and me, because he took... you. You're the only reason I spared him. ...It was what you would have wanted..."

Laharl didn't move. He remained as still as a statue, eyes never leaving that place on the wall he was attempting to bore a hole through with just his eyes.

"...And I know exactly what I would do if I lost you. That's... not something I ever want to experience again. Not something I can experience again."

He sighed, shaking his head slightly. "I'm the Overlord, Flonne. I can't afford things like this. I have a Netherworld to run, to keep order in both the Netherworld and the Human world... What if some demon lord got to you, and used you as a bargaining chip? Even Etna was calling for Lamington's blood."

He stood, moving over to the wall that looked out onto the city, one hand disappearing into his pocket, closing around the hilt of his sword but leaving it in the black hole that was his pants pocket.

"One person, no matter who they are, or what they are, should not be able to paralyze the Overlord, Flonne."

He shakes his head and punches the wall, sending cracks spider-webbing out from the point of impact.

"What I want is to be the best damn Overlord the Netherworld has ever seen. I can't... be a liability."

He looks down at his feet, his scarf twitching slightly as he pulls his sword from his pocket and in one swing sends the wall in front of him exploding outward.

"I need some time... I don't know how long."

His scarf twitched again, forming into a pair of wings, folded just above his shoulders.

"I can't just forget, Flonne. I can't help how I feel either. I just... need some time."

His scarf flapped a few more times as he stepped out of the hole he created, the wings carrying him off into the city.
beautifulmidboss: (What was that?)

The atmosphere had been tense since the...incident with Spirit a few days back. The still unresolved Attleton Election results did not help Midboss' mood, but that was nothing compared to having a mountain of old issues being dragged up and the effect it was having on Laharl and Flonne. As such, it had been a little difficult to focus this past few weeks.

He had seen Flonne lingering outside Laharl's room, but as it was decided to leave her the privacy to talk to him without lingering around... at least until he heard the sound of an explosion, the building rumbling from the impact of one of the walls being blown to pieces.

Quickly, he made his way from his room down the hall. What on earth just happened...?
beautifulmidboss: (Well this got complicated)

[personal profile] beautifulmidboss 2014-12-05 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Midboss didn't want to just break in there if the two were having a private moment, but judging from the eerie silence following the explosions, that seemed unlikely at this point.

Swallowing the nervous lump in his throat, he knocked lightly on the door.
beautifulmidboss: (This is serious...)

[personal profile] beautifulmidboss 2014-12-05 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he heard that...so Flonne was taking this badly. He should have known this would happen. From where he'd been lurking, he had heard most of the discussion, but until now it would not have been right to intervene.

There was the chance that Flonne wanted to be left alone, but he didn't have the heart to leave her crying like this. And so, Vyers tentatively opened the door and walked inside, crouching down next to her and putting his arm around her small shoulders.
beautifulmidboss: (Intrigued...)

That gaping hole in the wall must have been the cause of that explosion...he hadn't been expecting the property damage to be this severe. He was glad Flonne herself hadn't been wounded in all this. Physically, at least. He at least trusted Laharl not to last out at her.

"He is a difficult person to predict," Vyers replied. "You cannot hold the blame for that."

Midboss shook his head. "You should not have to keep it buried inside you...the truth sometimes needs to come out, regardless of how painful it can be. Strong emotions can destroy you from within if you keep them locked up."

Not that she wasn't already hurt by all this, of course. He gave her shoulder a little squeeze, before getting up to try and find some tissues.
