And they was.. Judo.. fighting. [Backdated to October]
Satsuki's day, for the most part, is clear so she's made an arrangement to have Luke meet someone. And that someone would hopefully be recognized as his new teacher.
Of course convincing Luke that he needed to learn a form of self-defense wasn't a simple one since the boy simply seems averse to any form of violence, but Satsuki's determined it's the perfect style for him and so she apparently got away with the cheesy line that a 'gentleman should be able to defend a person in need'.
So this brings the duo to the Sand Gym at Aspen Avenue around 10am to meet up with Mayu (and possibly any other employees) inside. The Guardian has met the young man before and seen what he can; she liked what she saw so has zero problem leaving the even younger man in his (allegedly) capable hands. Maybe it would have been simpler to send him to Thud's Gym, but she believes it would be better to support Genessia denizen efforts for.. Reasons. Her plan is to introduce the two and gauge how well things may work out.
Once the car pulls to a stop and wastes little time stepping out from it. "This is the place. I will be accompanying you today if that isn't any trouble."
Though maybe she should have said that before she already exited the car.

let's not argue about how mun calls BS on that I mean look at him huff."Hello."
This guy is supposed to be less intense than Satsuki? Color Luke unconvinced. One hand fiddles with the sleeve of his sweater, trying to swallow his nerves. Mayu is substantially taller than Luke and he's wondering how exactly he'll be able to do much of anything.
Regardless, he nods politely to Mayu. "Um...I'm Luke. Thank you for being willing to teach me."

"So I leave it to you to convince him better than I could."

"We'll see about that," Mayu comments. "Judo is about precision over strength."
"Luke, how old are you?" he asks. "What are your doubts?"
This is to give him an idea of what the boy is physically and mentally capable of. He figures it's best to ask directly when addressing any issues.
So behind on tags, sorry
Luke swallows, willing himself to take a deep breath and explain rationally--ranting and raving will be unconvincing at best, and a waste of energy.
"I'm much smaller than my classmates." He bites his lip, glancing away from Mayu. "I spend a lot of time trying to get away from them when they start picking fights. It's easier to run off than get beat up, seeing as I'm the smallest in my class."
Contemplating, he adds: "It's not that I can't outsmart them. I just can't beat them, if that's what they're out to be doing."
I am behind on tags as well.
"Two years younger than me," Mayu comments, which is likely more of a shock to Luke and Satsuki. His size and demeanor make it easy for people to assume that he's older. It normally isn't worth the effort to correct them, even if he notices.
His usual impassive expression softens a little as he hears Luke's reasons. They're mostly what he expected, but the extent of how intimidated the smaller boy is finally breaks through Mayu's lack of social awareness. He gives him a gentle pat on the shoulder.
"I understand," Mayu says."If it's easier to run away, then run but bullies can make it more difficult.
I'm large for my age, but older kids used to pick on me for being quiet. My older brother would usually chase them off, but I couldn't always rely on him."
That last part was something Mayu had trouble coming to terms with. He was a lot more dependant on Umetarou than the usual little brother.
"Judo was created for victims of bullying," Mayu had a point with this. "Like you, Dr. Jigoro Kano was smaller and weaker than his classmates. He trained, studied and experimented to find a way for weak to overcome the strong. You can take down someone much larger if you know how to get them off balance."

Satsuki's expression doesn't show the surprise she's feeling but sure enough she did not think Mayu was so young. With that aside, though, she's quiet as the two converse and she is not as surprised about Mayu's knowledge of the martial art. And the way that he relates to Luke is something she's pleased by.
She may have been wrong about the age, but it seems she was spot on about his teaching ability so far. She'll pat herself on the back later.

"So...you don't have to try and hurt someone?" For the first time since his arrival his expression is more relaxed, more assured. Hurting someone was something Like wanted no part of. Knocking someone off balance so he could get away? That could be acceptable.
This train of thought shows on his face in the form of something akin to relief, and he nods slightly.
"I would like to learn that." Yes ok you have convinced the small child!

Mayu doesn't want to decieve Luke in any way.No one getting hurt is the ideal, but the human body can be quite delicate in some ways. There's a reason lessons usually start with learning how to safely fall.
"You have the right attitude," Mayu remarks. He mentions the best times for begginer lessons, and everything else essential to getting started.

It seems fair for Luke to be skeptical of that, after all--he's at least a head and a half shorter than Mayu, easily. It's rather fair for him to think that he might not be able to learn to defend himself against someone so much bigger.
"I want to try. I'm just...what if I try to defend someone so much bigger and...and then I'm stuck?"
