December snuck up on the employee and students of murder death school, after the crisis with Charlotte was put out of the way, another one came up…preparing for Christmas. Shopping! Nobody has time for things like that back at home, it's a weird concept, but they'll try anyway.
Maka especially so considering she's an overachiever.

I'm the Overlord. I'm not supposed to have friends. Just vassals. An Overlord has to be invincible, ruthless, and entirely independent. Friends are a liability.

Because someone has to. I've seen what happens when an Overlord dies or is unfit for duty. It's about more than just the Netherworld. When my old man died, the Netherworld erupted into wars that threatened to boil over into the Human world, not to mention an Archangel decided it was a great time to goad the humans into invading the Netherworld to "wipe our evil" out for good.
Because one man was weak enough to succumb to love, countless demons died over and over, not to mention the idiot humans who blindly followed their "angel benefectors" and marched to their death a the border of the Netherworld.
Someone has to be strong enough to keep order. Someone has to do it. And I'm that person.

You know what I've seen? I've seen a person that rejected the idea of being close to anybody else, too. He wrapped himself up, isolated himself, became so fearful of anybody taking advantage of him he even consumed the one person that should be able to understand him and tether him to humanity.
He became known as the Demon God Asura. Chaos and fear were the only types of order that he brought. I'm not gonna say that love is what defeated him, or that love was something that could fix him so late in the game, but...he closed himself off, as a result everything else about him got closed off. He couldn't grow, he couldn't bring change, he was too weak to bring about anything but old stagnate order.
I know it's not my business, but with your attitude...you know how much that hurts people, don't you? It's probably hurt Flonne already.

You don't get it. I'm the single thing that keeps the infinite hordes of demons from tearing themselves apart or going after Celestia or the human world. For every vassal I have pledging their lives to keep the chaos of the Netherworld in the Netherworld, three are another 10,000 demons that want nothing more than to declare open season on Celestia and the Human world, completely ignoring the long term damage that would cause to the Netherworld itself.
Kidnapping, blackmail, and torture are all on the table. If any of my vassals could be used to manipulate me because I was stupid enough to get too attached, everyone would suffer. Three realms of existence depend on me to be strong enough and detached enough to be the gatekeeper.
If I am swayed by one person, trillions will die within an hour.

I'm serious, talk to him, no stupid fighting over my dad or pissing contests of power, whatever, just talk to him. I think he can give you a better perspective on the situation than I can, because he keeps the order of our world, too.
