005: Snow Angel [Action/Anon Text]
[Action: Cat's Eye Cafe]
[What a couple of months. Since Falan disappeared, Zelos had been trying to distract himself with work at the Cat's Eye Cafe and for the most part avoiding the communicators.
This Monday afternoon found him serving drinks and snacks, taking orders as usual. He was on a roll, and his pleasant smalltalk and flirtatious charm seemed to please the customers, at least.
It was only when he went on his afternoon break that he noticed it had begun to snow. Damn. Maybe he should call in sick tomorrow if it didn't let up?]
[OOC: Coworkers/customers/anything goes :)]
[Anon Text]

[That evening, Zelos tried to hurry back from the cafe as quickly as he could. The light snow had crept into Everglade as well, and right now he wanted nothing more than to get inside somewhere warm. Stupid weather.
Perhaps the best option right now would just be to find somewhere to stay in a city that wasn't full of snow? With the work he'd been doing, he had more than enough cash to stay at an inn for a couple of days in another city. So, he sent a text out - keeping it anonymous so his housemates wouldn't pick up on his lie.]
Been snowed out the house. Any cities snow-free right now?

action;
Of course I am, wouldn't you be worried about your own workers?
[Considering Fai himself puts up his own fake smiles he could tell the difference, but he won't mention it unless he gets too worried.]
action;
[The fact that Zelos was avoiding answering the first question at all probably indicated there might be something bothering him more than anything else.]
action;
[Fai had soon moved to get an order ready to send out. Al the while he was still talking.]
You never did answer if something was bothering you.
action;
Weeell, you know, kinda wishing I brought a bigger coat with me. Looks really chilly out there, huh?
[Not entirely the truth, but not entirely a lie either. It wasn't the cold that bothered him, per se, but the damn snow.]
action;
[He still didn't manage to get that back yet. Even here he would be unable to anyway.]
action;
[Why else would he be pining after that one, and not just replace it with any other coat here? He'd passed by plenty of shops that sold winter wear since he got here.
As he spoke, Zelos took another glance out the window. Nope, that weather wasn't clearing up anytime soon.]
...So...think I might be coming down with something.
[Hopefully, he could make that sound as casual and unremarkable as possible. At least a cold would be a better excuse to hide in bed...but he soon realised a flaw in this plan.
At the moment, work was keeping him from thinking about everything else that was going on. But working would require going out in the snow. If he wanted to avoid the snow, he'd have to avoid work. Which would mean those thoughts he was trying to avoid would catch up on him.]
action;
[Which is true since he's been in not one world but two that were mostly really cold worlds. He was use to them. he glanced over slightly however out the window before going to wipe the counter.]
You mean a cold or fever? If you are it's best to get home.
action;
[If just because he tended to avoid the colder bits as much as possible.]
...Something like that. Just got a bit of a headache coming on, I think.
[Even if this 'illness' was a complete lie, the fact that he looked a little pale at least made it a bit more convincing.]
action;
[He doesn't like getting too hot as he was too use to the cold.]
You can always go lie down in the back if you don't want to go home you know. That's what the back room is for. That and taking a break.
action;
[Oops, slight slip there. Subject change go!]
Heh, yeah. Might have to take you up on that one. You never know, quick nap never hurt anyone, right?
[Not to mention, that meant he didn't have to go running home in that]
action;
[To him anyway, although sometimes it just reminds of of bad things, but that is just him.]
If you do, please inform me before you do. [She was just going to go wipe some tables down once he realized some people had left after paying, making sure the waiter or waitress who had served them would get the tip that was left.]
I believe this might have been a tip for you. [He just is going to hold out some red bills for you. It looked like a decent amount at least.]
action;
[Snow always reminded Zelos of bad things, but he never likes to admit that.]
Got it, thanks. I'll give it five minutes and see how I'm holding up then.
[Zelos blinked as the red bills were handed over. He was used to sweettalking girls into giving him things, but here it meant he was doing well at his job. That was nice to know.]
Oh. Not bad, not bad. Guess my charms are paying off.
action;
It's not just the charms they tip you for, but it helps.
[His eyes currently are focused on the tree in front of him. He prefers to do them fresh before they ran low.]
Also, question. Since I might not always be here, do you know how to bake?
action;
The distraction was certainly a welcome one, and he peeked over Fai's shoulder as he worked.]
Baking, huh? Well, did a bit of cooking whilst I was traveling, but to be honest, the only sweet thing I managed was shortcake.
You offering lessons now? Happy to put in some extra hours if you'll teach me.
[Thinking about what Fai was saying, though, he felt a small pang of discomfort as he realised he didn't want him to leave Genessia as well. Best hide that feeling with an easy sounding chuckle.]
Doubt you'd really trust us to run the place for too long on our own though, right?
action;
I might be. I mean I'm the only one who makes the treats currently and with my plans and ideas, I would quite like to be able to get more than just me doing that.
[He'd even pay for the extra hours so there is something there. He just gave a small smile though. He didn't quite understand why he was doing this, but he was.]
Oh, you'd be surprised. I mean I might have to expand the business some day so I would need someone I can trust to take over.
action;
Good point. Must be pretty rough holding the weight of all the baking and keeping us out of trouble.
Well, as I said, happy to try and learn the ropes if you're willing to teach me. After all, pretty sure the Hunnies would be all over me if I could whip up a sweet treat every now and then.
[This, of course, had nothing to do with it. It was more to express his gratitude to Fai for taking him on and looking out for him - but Zelos would never admit that out loud.
'Someone I can trust', huh? He knew that would never be him.]
action;
Yeah, keeping you kids out of trouble is always a mothers job. [Yes he is saying that jokingly, somewhat. He smiles slightly never the less.]
Then I'll be happy to teach. Though, I have to admit I've never been a teacher before, so I have no idea what to expect. [he laughs slightly. He'll be ;earning the ropes himself in that area.]
action; I must admit I like these two
The joke makes him laugh a little nervously, but he could see the humour in it.
No mummy issues here.]Haha, yeah, and that's a full time job on it's own with all the trouble we cause.
[Huh, Fai'd never taught anyone before? Somehow, that took Zelos by surprise.]
Wouldn't have guessed. Take it from me, I think you'll do a pretty good job.
action; so do i
I know that. When will I ever get a break. [Said in a joking way once more as he leans on the side, arms propping his head up slightly.]
Who knows. For all you know I could be the worst teacher ever. [Or at least the least serious teacher ever.]
action; awesome :)
[That laugh was more lighthearted as he teased back.]
Guess I'll have to be the judge of that, huh? Well lemme know when you've got some free time to show me the ropes. I'll whip up some of that shortbread at some point, too. Pretty sure I still remember the recipe.
action;
[Considering he is already quite old himself. But he looks incredibly younger than what he is.]
You should get back to work. it's nearly closing time so soon we'll have to start closing up.
action;
At the reminder, though, he stretched and headed over to one of the nearby tables to clear off the empty mugs and plates, waving over his shoulder to Fai.]
I got it, I got it~ No problem. I'll bug you later.
