[ the feed cuts on all of a sudden as a video being taken from above. in a trainee uniform stands a young boy with dark hair and freckles. he's got a couple of the brochures in his hands and seems to be dropping a few things that he was given while he reads over them. taking in as much information as he can. finally, he pats himself, and then tucks the brochures underneath his arm as he kneels down ]

Oops... I guess I should be a lot more careful. I hope this doesn't get me in trouble. [ he picks up the videophone, looking very calm and collected for someone who just showed up in a strange place ]

Hello, my name's Marco, member of the 104th Trainees Squad and assigned command of the 19th Trainee Squad. Could anyone give me any information? Or if I actually have to go get a job here? I kind of still have a job to do back home.

Ah! No, not bills as in you have to pay for something. There's some red bills in that packet that's start up money. The currency here are these.

[Pulling out some of her own to show him before putting it back.]

Not at all. I may ask a little help as far as rent goes, but you're fine for now.

[She knows she graduated first out of the cadets, but it's still a surprise to hear someone think that. She was more concerned about keeping Eren, Armin, and herself alive to care. Still, a compliment is still a compliment.]

[She may or may not be tugging at her scarf without realizing it.]

Oh! [ he pulled out his own bills from his pocket to show ] These? I thought I heard someone talking about "bills that are due" and I figured that I would have to do that as well soon...

[ he couldn't help but smile, nodding his head ] Of course! Anything you ask! I could clean or cook whatever you guys would like. [ he notices, still smiling lightly. he won't draw any attention to it though ]

Yep, that's what I'm talking about. Those are what are used as currency here.

[Oh, that would be fantastic wow.]

That would be great. So far I do most of the cooking and cleaning, so an extra hand would be helpful.

Eren doesn't help? [ he doesn't exactly picture Mikasa as some kind of housewife... so Eren must just work a lot ] Thank you. I really appreciate all of your generosity, Mikasa.

He does sometimes, but some of the stuff is out of his comfort zone...

[Like cooking, but Mikasa isn't exactly much better. She's been basically teaching herself how to cook better slowly.]

It's nice to see you're okay.

[And yes that could insinuate his death, but she can just as easily pass that off as... She's glad to see people from her world.]

Ah... I understand. How far away is your home from here?

[ his smile turns a little sheepish ] Yeah, I'm sorry if I scared you when I passed out earlier. I heard you yelling...but I was slipping out of conciousness.

Well, I hurried here with my gear so it didn't take nearly as long. By this point we're almost there.

[She could maybe figure out a way to carry him while using her gear but... he's not small like Luke was. Luke could hang onto her piggy back style without hindering the process of moving. It wasn't going to be that simple with Marco, nor does she think he'd like that.]

It's fine, you just worried me a little. I didn't expect you to black out like that.

I should be fine to walk from here on out.

[ he sighed ] I didn't expect to either. I just became lightheaded and...yeah.

Well, I guess it's more rest in a way.

[Looking around as they walked.]

It's just... so strange. To live in an area that doesn't require walls. I was speaking to somebody about titans and dangers of their world and it seems they have something of the same problem, but they're some creatures called "Grimm". Although they don't have to live behind walls from what it seems like.

I'm sort of curious to check it out for myself. From what I understand, there is an archway that leads to their world, but I'm not totally sure where it's located.

[And then she paused for a moment.]

Oh right.. Archways...

Here I guess you can open certain archways to your world in a certain location, but I hear it requires for you to give up something important to open it; may it be an item, a memory, or some thing important. I haven't tried myself because... I don't really think an archway to our would would be beneficial for this place. From what I here, it's more like a clone as to the real thing though.

It seems so...unrestricted. It's strange to even walk around a place that seems so peaceful. [ he blinks ] Are those monsters just...free to walk around?

...I don't think you should do anything like that. I mean, what if you opened it...and it ended up letting a titan into this place? I'd never forgive myself if I did something like that.

That's what's gotten to me as well... I'm so used to fighting everyday or having some sort of danger occur everyday...

They're far enough away to avoid them for the most part, so it seems. [Nodding to that.] That's exactly my thoughts. We don't need titans to come here. Sure I could handle them if need be, but we already know what happened to our world because of them...

I've met a good number of people here and there are some that I hope that will never have to face what we've had to...

[Luke was the first one to mind about that...]

Yeah, it was easier when we first started out... [ he frowns lightly, remembering everything that had happened so far ]

We could handle one, especially with Eren here. But if any other come through, we would be in trouble.

[ he perks up a little. aww Mikasa has friends other than Eren! cute! ] That's good to know. I hope I'll be able to meet some nice people as well.

I don't even want one here. That means more are likely to come. There's nothing too significant about our world anyways.

[Wow, excuse you Marco. She definitely has other friends here besides Eren.]

I'm sure you will. There are plenty of nice people here.

...Yeah. [ except the people in it. rude ass. he doesn't say that though ]

[ u-uh! he didn't mean it like that!! ;; ]

It seems really nice here. [ he pauses ] Do you have a job here?

[Of course the people, but archways can't simulate the people too.

She knows. Marco is a nice guy. It's okay.]

Yep. I help aide an elementary teacher. Chasing after little kids is a lot more exhausting than it seems.

Really? [ he gives a light laugh-- not at her, just in general ]

That seems...sweet. It's certainly something different than chasing around titans. I haven't really been around kids much before.

It's certainly different. Most of them are well behaved, but it's not too hard to make sure that they keep out of trouble.

That's better than having to deal with ones that misbehave all the time. I can't imagine that.

[And by this time, Mikasa started to spot the apartment complex coming close to them. Pointing to the building.]

This is it. It took a little while, but this place is Nova City.

[ Marco looks up to where Mikasa is pointing, taking in the new surroundings ]

This is...a little different than where I first arrived.

Nova City is a bit more high tech compared to other places, but we picked it mostly for the taller buildings.

[Entering the apartment complex now.]

Wow...

[ Marco goes quiet, looking at everything around him. he looks like a kid in an amusement park for the first time. he looks scared and excited all at the same time. this wasn't anything like home ]

It's a bit of a culture shock, but... it's pretty nice once you get used to it.

[Which was an understatement since having their own living space was a treat all on it's own.]
