3rd Heist- Log- Closed to Weiss and Gintoki, respectively
Who: Weiss Schnee, Gintoki Sataka, Roman Torchwick
What: Part 1- Roman has Weiss captive and figures he should have some fun with that. Part 2- Neo's manservant is moving in and Roman needs toestablish dominance introduce himself.
When: January 28th/early on the morning of the 29th
Where: The Waterways under Fayren, Team CRME's hotel in Nova City
WARNINGS: For Weiss- potential for torture, blood, and language. For Gintoki- just boys being really really dumb.
Part 1- Weiss
Times like this, Roman wished he weren't so good at his job. A lesser criminal could've found some abandoned warehouse and called it a day. But noooo, he had to secure his hostage in the deep, dark, disgustingly muddy depths of Fayren's ancient sewer system. He had lifted a pair of waders off some redneck in Everglade (damned if he would be seen buying such a fashion atrocity) but he could still feel the grime and damp through them. This had better be worth it, he thought as he shot fire at-- what was that, some kind of glowing mutant sewer rat? Well, it was a smoldering corpse now. Hopefully the waterways could come up with more menacing monsters for any would-be rescuers.
He paused to shed the waders before he approached. His hired muscle must've heard him coming pretty late, because she was still in the process of straightening up and trying to look serious when he turned the corner. Rookie. Ah, well. He'd have the budget for some quality minions when the ransom came through. She still had the Schnee, and that was what mattered.
"Hello, Ice Queen." He slung his cane over one shoulder and gave her a brilliant smile. "I hope the cuffs weren't too uncomfortable last night. I'd hate to ruin your beauty sleep."
Part 2- Gintoki
[Roman was aware that The Manservant moved in a couple hours ago, but he's been waiting for the prime opportunity to catch him off guard. That's Villainy 101 material-- the right mix of surprise and confusion can really help with the whole intimidation process. For starters, he's talked the hotel staff into giving him a copy of Gintoki's key card so he can let himself in. The best time to drop in is, of course, at nearly one in the morning when he's just returned from entertaining his hostage. He intentionally leaves the blood on his shirt-- not much, but just enough to make him look dangerous and a little unhinged.
He opens the door and then knocks. Hope you weren't sleeping, Gintoki. ]

Good evening! I know it's a little late, but I've just been dying to meet this new manservant.

Unfortunately for him, he had been asleep when Roman walked in. He'd passed out after getting pretty drunk... And may or may not have multiple empty bottles laying around. Blearily, he looks up from his pillow at Roman, a vague itch of familiarity tickling the back of his brain.]
Wha... Who?
no subject
You've probably heard of me as 'Roman Torchwick', but from here on out you're going to call me 'sir.' But hey, enough about me! Let's hear a bit about you.
[A stray bottle is in his path so he takes a swing at it with his cane, sending it flying until it shatters against the wall.]
Let's start with why you were passed out drunk, shall we? What if I was Neo instead, and I needed something from you right now? Do you think it's proper servant behavior to drink yourself into useless oblivion without permission?
no subject
If you were Neo, you'd be a lot cuter looking.
[He knows that was the wrong thing to say but... Really, he couldn't help it. He was rudely awoken and was being told to call a stranger sir... How could he be polite after that?]
no subject
Strike two!
[He swings at another bottle, this time smashing it next to the headboard.]
You're not wrong, but you do not look at your mistress that way. It's disrespectful. And not to put too fine a point on it, but Neo already has someone who she is quite happy with. If you lay a finger on her or so much as look at her wrong, it's not going to end well for you. Capiche?
no subject
I'm not going to try to steal your girlfriend. She's not even my type. But if you're that worried about it... Why don't you let me go? Then it won't even be an issue.
no subject
What, and take away her new toy after she worked so hard to track you down? You've never had a girlfriend, have you?
[He shrugs and spreads his palms.]
Besides, having a servant around does sound nice. You're pretty scrappy right now, but I'm sure we can whip you into shape.
no subject
Really, I'm a bad learner. And an even worse servant.
no subject
Yeah, I believe that.
Fortunately... [He hefts his cane and grins.] Pain is a pretty good teacher.
no subject
H-hey. What're you going to do if you hurt me too much for me to anything for Neo?

When she finally heard Torchwick's voice, she tensed against her bindings, almost like she was trying to break out. It wasn't because she thought that she was actually going to be able to so easily-- Torchwick was cruel, unjust, and just about everything she hated in a person but he wasn't a complete dolt. It was more out of anger. Seeing Blake was still fresh in her mind. Weiss had worked through so much, trying to convince herself that it was okay if the people she cared about forgot so that she could talk herself into moving forward, but she didn't think she'd see Blake die. Not here, not when she should have been able to do something. Blake had saved her, but she couldn't do the same, and now Torchwick had her. Pulling at her bindings was an act of anger having seen one of the first friends she'd made, and one of the best, fall. She'd lost people she cared about before, family and board members to the White Fang, but she'd never felt so helpless about it before. She'd certainly never had to watch, then lose to the person who did it.
"You're awfully concerned with hospitality for a murderer."
no subject
"That's rich coming from you, Ice Queen. I wonder how many of those White Fang men got out of the tunnels alive after what you did to them? But hey-- it made you a hero, right?"
He took off his hat and swept a deep bow.
"Congratulations, Your Majesty."
no subject
"The men in the White Fang are on your head! You would've killed hundreds of people in Vale, Faunus and humans alike! None of that excuses what you did to Blake!"
She struggled again. She wanted so hard to take him down. She might not be a cruel person, but that didn't curb the fact that she was angry long before that. The White Fang deserved what they got under Roman's leadership. Weiss tried to steady herself. At the very least, she didn't want to cry in front of Roman, even if she was clearly worn down, her makeup faded enough that her scar was much more visible than it normally would be because of it.
"Why haven't you killed me too?"
no subject
He straightened up and put his hat back on, primping his hair to make sure it was still in place. That was partly because appearances mattered, but it didn't hurt that his nonchalance in the face of brutality had a tendency to piss people off. He appreciated impotent rage in the same way most people appreciated fine art.
"Kitty didn't have to die, you know. If you'd watched your own back, she'd probably have made it out. Heck, if you'd done nothing it'd have stayed one on one and she wouldn't have had to split her attention. As for you..."
He pointed his cane at her and there was a mechanical whir as the sights raised. He wouldn't actually shoot her after he'd gone through all this trouble and she was probably smart enough to know, but it was hard to be sure of logic when you're staring down the barrel of a gun. He let the threat hang for a moment before he set his cane down and shrugged.
"You're more interesting when you're alive, for now. Your pet wasn't too talkative but I'm thinking you might be different."
no subject
Part of her knew it wasn't her fault. Whatever Roman did, it was on Roman. It wasn't her fault. She was doing as Blake told her to, trying to call for back-up so that they wouldn't end up.. well.. Like this. But the others had been called too late, Weiss had reacted emotionally and hadn't retreated when she should have. She'd lost sight of a lot of what she'd learned in school when she saw Blake fall. Even if she could say that Roman was the one who did it, after she saw, she couldn't ignore the nagging question of if she'd just retrieved Blake and retreated like she would have if Blake had been knocked unconscious or injured, maybe they could've resuscitated her somehow. Weiss would have her freedom, that was for sure, and there was a chance Blake could've been saved.
But death was different when you watched someone close to you fall than it was when you hear about it from someone else or it's a faceless enemy like the White Fang or the Grimm. When it was a friend, even the person who claimed themselves to be the voice of reason of the group couldn't help but try to fight tooth and nail to end the person responsible. Especially not when it was Weiss, who knew so well what it felt like to feel alone and loved her friends. Not focusing on what she should've known to do in a situation like that was the reason that Roman's ploy to put the blame on her was working, even if he didn't know it.
"Don't talk about her like she's some animal."
That was the part she would correct. No matter whose fault it was, he shouldn't disrespect her.
no subject
He paused and cocked his head to the side as if he'd just thought of something.
"Oooh. I get it. You don't know, do you? I mean, you obviously know that she's a Faunus, but..." A nasty smile crept across his face and he leaned in to look her in the eyes. "She hasn't told you about her past."
It was a statement, not a question. His 'realization' was nothing but theatrics. Of course Blake had kept them in the dark-- even if he hadn't looked into her, he'd have figured that out. When someone has that much trouble making friends, they're going to not going to risk losing them by divulging that kind of secret.
"I'd say you should ask her about the things she's done, buuuut seeing as she's dead..." He shrugged and pulled back. "I guess it's a moot point now. Trust me though, 'animal' doesn't even begin to cover it."
no subject
"Whatever she did in the past doesn't matter anymore," Weiss only paused for half a second before speaking up, trying to draw the attention away from the conversation topic. She didn't want to know and she didn't want him to keep talking about Blake like he was right to put her down, "What kind of man has to pull out cheap tricks to corner a couple of girls not even a year into training because it's the only way you can win? You're like a hyena. You laugh, saunter about and can't go anywhere without a bunch of henchmen following you around, because in the end you're a weak, conniving little animal who runs away because you can't handle a fight. I know who the animal here is."
no subject
He straightened up and brushed off the back of his glove as if touching her had soiled it.
"I wouldn't talk like that if I were in your position, Ice Queen."
His tone was as light as ever, but there was a sharp edge to his smile and his eyes were cold.
"You're alive because I thought we could talk, but I'm not afraid to change my mind."
no subject
"You kidnapped a Schnee. We can talk, but if you're expecting me to sit here and listen to you insult my friend who you killed without having something to say about it, you obviously need to spend a little more time thinking through who you drag into a sewer."
She knew she had too much pride, especially in her name and her family's legacy, but it'd been her friend that had set her off. Weiss tried to take a slow, deep breath, trying to concentrate on getting her aura up and running to heal the pink surface of her cheek now.
no subject
"It's not an insult. I respect a little ruthless streak! I was trying to be polite, you know? You're going to give me information, so it's only fair that I offer you some in return. But if you're not interested then by all means, let's move on to what I want."
He stood back and took a moment to collect his thoughts.
"Hey, Streich. You've got a videophone, right? Record this for me."
His minion hesitated, then nodded and took out her phone. Roman could use his own, sure, but he had a feeling this was going to get messy and the warranty didn't cover blood damage. He turned his smile back on Weiss.
"Let's start with how you girls keep finding me, shall we?"
no subject
Straightening her back, Weiss kept her head up as she returned her gaze to Roman.
"Have you considered that you're not as sneaky as you think you are?"
She knew that wasn't the case-- a lot of why the police couldn't find information they wanted was because they were tied up by problems like warrants and probable cause. They wouldn't be able to get Schnee records in a million years, and they definitely didn't have someone who used to be on the inside. Ruby's luck was another matter altogether.
'Sharing' information wasn't going to happen, either way. She considered telling him to just skip asking her questions, but she didn't particularly want to get to what came after she didn't.
no subject
"Sure. It took me about 30 seconds to conclude that wasn't the case. Even if it was, that would be a why, not a how, so let's try that again."
He took off his right glove and cupped her chin in his hand, tilting it up to force eye contact. His fingers were unnaturally hot -- not enough to burn yet, but certainly enough to be uncomfortable.
"How did you keep finding me?"
no subject
"You saw Blake and Sun at the White Fang gathering right? You said where you were, you dunce. Like I said; not very sneaky when you go telling a whole mass of people where you're going to be."
She was being very careful not to move. There was a little more to it than that, but reasonably, they could have managed just from that, a bit of common sense, and a lot of luck. Anything else was just bonus-- and some of the times were accidents.
no subject
"Wrong answer!"
His fingers flared white-hot as he slid his grip down to her throat and squeezed hard.
"My directions were awfully vague, and I'm positive they didn't say anything about being underground. And what about the docks, hmm?"
For a moment he savored the feeling of delicate tendons in her neck, the look on her face, the scent of burning skin, keeping his eyes fixed on hers the entire time.
"--Oh, but where are my manners? You can't talk like that, can you?"
He released her and stepped back, taking out a red handkerchief and wiping his hand.
"One last try, Ice Queen. And remember, honesty is a virtue."
He gave her a wink that might seem playful if it weren't for the circumstances.
no subject
It hurt so much already. Weiss glared at him quietly as her aura seemed to start picking up the burning and trying to fix it right away. He had to pick burning her, of all things. There was no way that it was arbitrary that he chose burning of all things. The one thing Zuko had been so afraid of doing to her when they first met, that he was so careful to make sure he never did, and he was going to take that trust away from them just because Weiss wouldn't be able to stop herself from panicking if he kept doing this. It was the worst possible way he could go about this, to her.
"The White Fang steals from Schnee Company. You honestly don't think I can check my own company's shipments?" Honesty being a virtue was one thing, but Weiss was lying through her teeth right then. She wasn't even involved in the docks.
"As for the underground..." It was so hard to think when she was in pain, but she could use Ruby's lie to the professors and the General to their advantage. Maybe. It was going out on a limb. If she really had nothing to do with Torchwick, it would be obvious she was lying through her teeth, but she wasn't intent on cooperating at all and if she could plant some doubt.. maybe she'd at least get something out of this. "Maybe you should ask the woman from the CCT instead of me."
no subject
Her lie was more believable than the truth so he didn't think twice about that, but the next bit was worth delving into. He tilted his head to the side, careful to keep his expression even. He had no idea what she was talking about but there was no reason to let her know that.
"Oh? What makes you say that?"
no subject
Keep it simple. Just need to say what she actually knows from Ruby's description and hope he doesn't catch onto her lies. And also hope that the lady she's talking about sounds even remotely familiar so it doesn't sound like some made-up phantom.
"Then Ruby told the Professors that she heard where you were so Professor Ozpin would let us go on the mission even though it was marked that first years couldn't go on it. Don't get mad at us because you've got a rat problem."
