Calling all geniuses
[A public broadcast - perfect. If what Sofia told her about this guy is true, then he shouldn't be able to resist.]
Hey, everyone. I heard there's some guy around here that builds robots.
Well I build them too, so get in touch with me. I might... [She pauses] ... Want to pick your brain. If you're as talented as people have said, I might learn a thing or two.

...Oh wonderful, it's a child. Ugh. This could be tiresome.]
You have five minutes to make me feel like I'm not wasting my time with you. So get to it, wow me.
1/3
I made this when I was eight...

He makes a good assistant, too.
Re: 3/3
[Well it's not bad per say, but he could scrounge together the same thing in a scrapyard.]
And how old are you now?
Re: 3/3
[She pauses.]
Ahh, I know what you're getting at. You're wondering why I never improved him as I got older. Well, Bit's just...
Well he wouldn't be Bit if I made him any different.
Now then, I have made several military-grade weapons and armaments back where I came from - including a multi-faceted mechanical golem used for military training. It was able to grow and develop, adapting to a soldier's fighting style, to challenge them to seek alternative methods of combat.
I... invented a fridge where I come from.
...
Hey, I know this doesn't sound like much to you, but we don't have electricity where I come from, so put that into perspective!
no subject
I don't care! I don't care that your world doesn't have electricity, I don't care that you don't want to update the little robot you made over a decade ago, he's old news! I just wanted to know what you had made since you made him. You're lucky I didn't just hang up on you the second you showed me something you built ages ago instead of something recent.
[There's a pause as he takes a few deep breaths. When he speaks up again, he's surprisingly calm.]
Military grade weapons, eh?
no subject
[Sheesh! Though she supposes Wily has a point. Bit, while being her most precious creation, is far from her most impressive.]
Well, yes. Moving right along. [She clears her throat.] Military grade, yes. I was on R&D for the Ironhart military - I was in charge of things like overseeing the production of possible military mech units. [And other things, but this guy's short on patience.]
[She also quit when she found she was making killing machines rather than the lovable robots she was so fond of, but like heck he wants to hear that.]
Someone said that if I wanted a robotics expert, you're the guy. I love robots, and I'd like to keep building them, but I don't know where to start. Your tech is completely different. So please tell me you have some kind of... of... journal or... something I could learn from.
no subject
She has stroked his ego though, so he'll humour her for now. he has to admit he's interested in learning just how technology in her worlds works.]
Well, I am the number one robotics expert in my world, and while I could lend you a note book or two, they likely wont do you any good as anything I've written doesn't cover the basics.
What I can do is point you in the direction of some required reading until then. I may have some scrap lying around that you can fiddle around with. If you can get it up and running, I'll consider lending you a notebook or two.
no subject
Mm... I see. [She rubs her chin. At least he writes down notes and things for reference - her last teacher didn't do that much, unless you count the weird things he carved into the ceiling. But then he says he can point her in the direction of required reading.]
[Excellent.]
Aha, reading! Now that's something definitely useful. Point away! [She's going to get so into those books that she's just going to suck up the knowledge inside like some sort of... knowledge sponge.]
Give me a week, then we'll see about your challenge.
no subject
Try there, there should be a section on electronics and what not. I'm sure you kind something like "Electricity" or "Robotics" for dummies in there somewhere. Those should at least give you the basics.
[He'll look away from the screen.]
Quick Man! I have a job for you! That Met that went offline about a week ago, see if you can track it down at the dump. It's camera went offline in a dumpster and so it probably ended up there.
Drop it off at the Bay when you find it.
[He'll glance over at the screen.]
You'll find it at the Bay.
no subject
Talk at you later! I'm sure you have my number stored away somewhere by now.
no subject
[Grumble, grumble, grumble.]
Of course I have, It's the first thing I did when you tried to get a hold of me.
Into Action
[Your number's a bit trickier, Wily! And she's not surprised. The number she'd have isn't registered to anyone.]
Now I'm going to go to the Bay. Seeya!
[She cuts her feed and makes for her departure.]
[She would arrive at the Bay of course while keeping an eye out for the package she was supposed to pick up. What did he call it? A "Met?" What's a Met, anyway? And who was supposed to be taking it to her? Some goof named "Quick Man?" Was her a super hero or something? Sounds like a name Gale would come up with - a stupid name.]
Re: Into Action
Took you long enough to get here. You're lucky I had orders to deliver this to you or I would have bailed out already.
Re: Into Action
[Then she's poked in the back of the head, which makes her flip the fudge out. She gasps and whips around quickly to see Quick Man. Why, she didn't even realize she was standing in front of what looked like an old box until she bumps into it with the back of her ankles.]
Whoa! Whoa, hey there, uh... [She looks him up and down a moment.] ... Wow, you really do dress like some kinda super hero. Are you Quick Man?
no subject
Dressed like a superhero? No, I'm built this way.
[He'll give his chest a quick, rough pat and which gives off a light metallic ring.]
Yep, That's me, DWN 012; Quick Man. The best, and fastest Robot Master around. So try to keep up.
no subject
[Still, prepare yourself, Quick Man!]
Ooooohhh...! *o* You're a ROBOT?! [Like, omigawd! Amelia's less focused on her task than ever now, hands clasped together as she's right up in Quick Man's face, trying not to touch him. She's trying so hard not to touch him.] You're so human-like! I've never seen anything like you before! What makes you go so fast? Man, you must be packed full of kinetic accelerators...! And you have your own personality, don't you? And you can think freely and learn, can't you?!
Oh wow!
[Now her hand's thrust out at him. Because she treats robots as her equal.] It's very nice to meet you, Quick Man. I'm Amelia Inglebert.
no subject
Man, if only you could move as fast as you talk. A combination of lightweight metals and kinetic accelerators do play a part in my construction, you've got that right at least.
And yeah, of course I have my own personality, and I'm free to think for myself with only certain limitations, but I've got more freedom than the average robot from where we come from.
[He'll pause for just a brief moment before reaching over and giving her hand a quick shake.]
Yeah, I guess you're alright too, This hasn't been a complete waste of my time.
no subject
Well then! [Amelia turns and picks up the box she was given with the damaged Met in it.] I guess I won't keep you since you seem to be in a hurry. [Oh-ho, so funny.]
no subject
Ha! That's get's a laugh out of him, maybe she wasn't so bad for a flesh bag.]
Yeah, lots to do, Wily's got us running all of the place getting ready for his next crack pot scheme.
Good luck with that piece of junk, looks like it got caught in a tornado or something. Didn't peg Air Man as the type to get ticked off, but he's the only one I know that could do that to a bot.
[And he's prepping to take off, he might give Amelia the chance to get another word or two in before he dashes off into the night. ...or day, whichever it is.]
no subject
Scheme? [No, Quick Man probably wouldn't answer that, but Amelia's all kinds of curious.] What kinda scheme?
no subject
[And he's gone!]
1/3
2/3
3/3
[No sense dwelling on that. Quick Man didn't even seem that dangerous. Just... quick.]
[So she turns to make her way home, occasionally shaking the box. What's in the box, Wily. What's in the box? What's in the box?!]
[Private Audio]
Re: [Private Audio]
Seriously though, it's alright. He pointed me in the direction of some good starting material for a fledgling roboticist! The guy does seem pretty full of himself though...
Don't worry, I'm sure I'll be fine. I definitely won't talk to him very much if I can help it.
[Private Audio]
Did you give him personal information? Like where you live?
[Private Audio]
[He totally yelled at her for rambling, but the less embarrassing things Sofia knows the better.]
I'm fine, okay? It's not my first walk in the park.
[Private Audio]
[Her mom points just keep piling up!]
If this isn't your first walk in the park, what kind of threats have you dealt with back at your home?
Re: [Private Audio]
I've been kidnapped, beaten, bruised, and battered. [She's counting these out on her fingers as she answers, not that Sofie can see them.] And that was just one time I accompanied a military away team as a civilian specialist. I'm not scared of that guy.
[Private Audio]
[Lucky enough, Sofia has no more plans on pushing the issue further now that she's heard Amelia's experience]
Fair enough. With that, I guess you've earned the right to try.
[There's obvious concern in her voice. Sofia tried to be calm about it, but it was rather obvious]
Re: [Private Audio]
Don't worry, I'll be just fine. I'm already starting to get my hands on the books I need. It's actually really great! These energy cores are a fascinating theory... and memory chips? Holy cow it's like a bite-sized explosion of innovation!
[She's obviously going to be very busy.]
I've got a week to brush up on this stuff, so you might not see me for a while. [Note: No one will see her outside of her house. At all.] I better get right to it though, so I'll seeya!
[Private Audio]
[And no one would see Sofia either. These two could stay inside of their houses for weeks, it seems]
I should let you get on it. Let me know of your findings, I may find some benefit in them for my own core.
[It suffered some damage in her last fight prior to Genessia that the nanites in her suit can't fully repair]
I'll catch you later.
