More mischief

[betel_geuse]

Betelgeuse was enjoying his attempts to put together a dan maku league, but he was still a poltergeist and felt the need to make mischief. Boredom was never far away, so Betelgeuse hit the streets, looking for victims. Settling on a bench on a sidewalk, he...began playing with people's hair. At random, he transformed the hairstyles of people passing by. He inflicted elaborate hairdos on people, including pigtails a foot long and standing on end, and generally made people look as silly as possible. He even gave one or two victims beehives, complete with actual bees. Bye bye boredom!

What have you done to my hair?! [His usual easy yet fashionable ponytail is now a pair of ridiculously high, bouncy pigtails. Curly ones.]

Betelgeuse looked at the pigtails and doubled over, laughing hysterically. He stopped abruptly, looking up with a serious look on his face.

"I put it up in pigtails. What did you think I did to it??" Betelgeuse asked, frowning slightly. "You prefer a bun or something?"

No! I want it back the way it was, the way it always is! I look ridiculous! All I'd need is a pair of buns and people would mistake me for that Sailor Moon brat!

[betel_geuse]

Betelgeuse nodded, smirking.

"You do look pretty silly," he agreed. "Then again, the pony tail wasn't that great, either. Why not mix things up a bit? Wait. I don't know any Sailor Moon brat. Who is that?"

Says you! [It's the only way he can look pretty and still keep his hair from getting in the way when he works okay] This isn't mixing things up, this is...humiliation! And Sailor Moon is someone who's always in my way and I don't want to talk about her right now!

[To say Quinn is not amused at her sudden beehive is an understatement. Especially when she hears buzzing. Right now she's too busy trying to keep still so the bees won't touch her, but if she can get them to leave...someone is in for an earful!]

Betelgeuse, however, was extremely amused, for several seconds, anyway. After that, watching her not moving became boring, so he got rid of the bees, with a snap of his fingers. He grinned at her, rather hoping for an explosion, actually.

"Hey, babes, how ya doin'? You know bees'll leave you alone, if you don't bother them, right?"

[Good, now that the bees are gone she's free to express her anger.]

Is this a joke? Because it's not funny! This hairstyle is so ugly and outdated and if the Fashion Club knew I ever wore something like this I'd be kicked out in an instant!

Betelgeuse just laughed some more, doing a little victory dance.

"For not being funny, I'm getting a helluva laugh, babes!" Betelgeuse crowed, then tilted his head, curious. "Fashion club? Is that a thing here? Man, nobody tells me anything!"

Well...that's because you're a twisted jerk, clearly! Only a twisted jerk would find this funny! And the Fashion Club is an important club whose job is to keep the world fashionable!

[betel_geuse]

"Whoa, babes, chill a bit!" Betelgeuse ordered, rolling his eyes. "The hair thing is temporary. I mean, it's HAIR. You can always restyle it. Now. This club thing. I get that it's about fashion. What else is a fashion club gonna be about? I'd just like to know a bit more...like who runs it and what kinda taste do they have? Do they like spooky stuff?"

Oh, you can bet I'm gonna re-style it! [HUFF] And the Fashion Club is an important organization. We give advice and make sure everyone knows what's in and out, and we do community service to keep the poor from dressing unfashionably! [Well, they tried that once. But it didn't work as well as they'd planned.]

"Sounds like a load of laughs!" Betelgeuse said enthusiastically. "Where do you guys hook up at?"

Well, it's not, it's very serious business! And we hold meetings in the cafeteria, at Sandi's house or at the mall! Preferably the mall during school house.

[betel_geuse]

"You're too uptight, babes," Betelgeuse advised. "Important or not, fashion should be fun! I'm BJ, by the way. Who're you?"

It is! But it's also serious business! And my name is Quinn, not "babes".

"Yeah, sure, whatever, babes," Betelgeuse said, tired of women rejecting the nickname. "So, Quinn, what's next for the fashion club? You should put on a fashion show!"

I would if the rest of the club were here! But I haven't seen Sandi, Stacy or Tiffany anywhere!

"You mean they AREN'T ON GENESSIA?!" Betelgeuse shouted, before giving a tired sigh. "Babes, why didn't you say that before?"

Well, excuse me for being a little too freaked out to mention that little detail! And don't call me babes! I just told you my name!

[betel_geuse]

"Yeah, but I wasn't listening," Betelgeuse lied. "Well, ya know what you gotta do, right?"

"Well. Yeah, so? What's that got to do with anything?"

At least do something about your hair! When was the last time you even washed it?

"About six hundred years ago," Betelgeuse said dryly. "Did I forget to mention that I'M DEAD? This hair suits me. It's creepy and scary--perfect for haunting you living folks. Really, babes, I'm the ghost with the most! I can't go around with ordinary hair."

[That sound? Yeah, Quinn just did her best dog whistle impression only people could probably hear it. She backs away, for a second she's sure her heart stopped.]

You're a GHOST?!

"The ghost with the MOST, babes. That's me," Betelgeuse agreed, chuckling. "Never met a ghost before?"

No!!! [she's backing away as much as she can] No wonder you look all gross and rotten, though, ew!

[betel_geuse]

"That would be why," Betelgeuse agreed, proudly. "I dare ya to find someone scarier than me!"

I don't think I could! [shudder] Even my weirdo sis-er, cousin isn't as scary as you and she reads books about dead people!

"Damn right, you couldn't, babes!" Betelgeuse agreed, proudly. "Oooo, is your sister here? I like the sound of her!"

Betelgeuse shook his head, frowning slightly.

"You dragged me completely off topic. Your friends might not be here, but you're still a fashion guru, AREN'T YOU?? Well, get going, girly. You need to bring your fashion club to Genessia!"

No! And I can't just bring the other girls here, they'd kill me! And I don't even know how people get here in the first place!

"Figures. I'm not saying bring your friends here! You don't need them. Okay, they're your friends, so maaaaybe you do need them. That's not the point! You need to bring the IDEA here, not your people, know what I mean? Find some well-dressed schmucks here in Genessia and start up your own version of the club!"

Oh...well, I guess it can't hurt to try. I'll probably be here a while and I can't slack off just because I'm alone. I'll put an ad in the paper!

"There ya go!" Betelgeuse praised, slapping his leg in his enthusiasm. "I'm an idea man is what I am! This should be fun."

...thanks. I guess for a freaky ghost with bad hair you're pretty smart. I mean, not like brain smart, but what you said was a good idea.

"Heh. You ain't seen nothing yet. Wait until you really get to know me."

To say that Midboss was unamused when he suddenly found his hair done up in sharp green spikes was something of an understatement.

"M-my beautiful hair!!!!" he exclaimed, looking around quickly for the source whilst he used his jacket to try and cover the abomination his hair had become. He couldn't let anyone see him like this!

[betel_geuse]

The source might be a bit obvious, since he was doubled over, close to the ground, laughing his head off. Betelgeuse was holding onto his stomach, while shaking with the force of his humor. He looked up with a wide grin and tears in his eyes.

"Hey. Green is you. Embrace it!"

[beautifulmidboss]

"You again!" That was all he needed to storm over to the rather obvious source, flailing with the rage only a true drama queen could master. "Unforgivable... to change my beautiful, elegant here into this abomination...!"

[betel_geuse]

"Hey, how ya doing?" Betelgeuse asked, grinning. "Abomination? Dude, haven't you ever heard of punk rock? Thousands of teenagers would kill for that hairdo!"

[beautifulmidboss]

"Well enough, aside from the currently unforgivable state of my hair," yup, that was a pointed tone right there. Some warmth, however, came back into his voice with the next question: "And you? It has been a while."

It Betelgeuse was paying attention, he might notice one of his and Koishi's flight charms pinned to Midboss' jacket.

"It'll grow on you," Betelgeuse said soothingly, then burst into laughter. "Get it? HAIR. IT GROWS ON YOU!"

After a few seconds too much of insane laughter, Betelgeuse calmed down, grinning.

"I'm good! I see you got one of our flight charms. I'm one of the masterminds behind the danmaku craze!"

[beautifulmidboss]

Okay, that one did make him laugh. "That was terrible, even for you!" he said, chuckling.

"Yes, Koishi kindly gave it to me after I told her a couldn't fly anymore. It's no replacement for my wings of course, but it is far preferable to being stuck on the ground. On the subject of Danmaku, she firmly insisted I ask you about it."

[betel_geuse]

"Thank you, thank you!" Betelgeuse said, taking a bow. "Between her and me we cover all the bases! What would you like to know?"

[beautifulmidboss]

"Well...what is Danmaku, exactly? That seems the best place to start us off," he asked. Koishi had not been very specific, naturally.

[betel_geuse]

"Well, y'know, it's a dueling sport, except you're not supposed to kill anyone. You throw stuff at people to distract them, while hitting them with heat and energy. Basically, you're trying to wear them out. But you can throw anything and you do it in complex patterns that your opponent tries to avoid."

[beautifulmidboss]

Midboss looked intrigued. "Curious... very curious. So the goal is to wear them out with your attacks, I see. Are there any other rules? Limits on what powers we can call upon?"

[betel_geuse]

"Well, anything fatal is out," Betelgeuse said. "There aren't no rules as such. I mean, being creative is a huge part of it, but ya gotta keep to the game, right? I mean, if you're throwing around golf balls and using heat as your attack, you can't magic up some creature to attack from behind, know what I mean?"

Betelgeuse was trying to be helpful, but...he was the wrong person to ask about rules. He didn't like them and only followed them, when it suited him.
