[Closed] Two Blondes On A Date

WHAT: Out on a date to celebrate getting Yuna a date!
WHERE: A restaurant in Genessia city.

Gippal had joined the effort in getting Yuna a date late, but still he was happy with the results. Yuna deserved a good night out for everything she had contributed to their world. So even if it meant being pushy in getting her to go out and enjoy herself, he was happy to participate. Of course he wasn’t oblivious to the fact that Rikku played a role in those world protecting exploits too. But tonight, he wasn’t taking Rikku out for that. Nope, he was taking her out to celebrate getting Yuna a date.

So they were having a date for getting someone else a date…go figure. The restaurants in the area were decked out for the day of love. Gippal didn’t know much about it, just like that Christmas Holiday. But he knew enough to know this was a day for romancey sort of coupley stuff. And while him and Rikku weren’t a couple, he still didn’t mind spending this day with her.

So he had messaged her with the address of this place and a time. He was already at the restaurant waiting for her. He was dressed pretty casual, as he didn’t know exactly how he should have dressed. Their reservation was coming up, but he had faith that Rikku wouldn’t be late.

This dinner was totally for getting Yuna a date... yep... That was totally the reason. Not because Rikku knew about Valentine's Day from those around her or anything. It was totally normal to have a date for someone else's date, right?

When she received the message -- and she knew she probably would eventually -- she was quick to get ready for the night. She wasn't sure what to wear, but she settled on a plaid red dress and black booties. She wore the scarf that Gippal had given her for Christmas and her jacket because it was chilly outside.. clearly. She finished up and headed on over to the restaurant to make sure she'd be on time if not early.

With Yuna out on her date, she was hesitant to leave Sparke alone. She had asked a friend to watch over him until she was done with her date. She could have left him alone, but she didn't like the idea of that. Finally she arrived pretty close to the estimated time, waving to him.

"Well, don't you like nice?" she commented with a small grin.

Totally totally for getting Yuna a date. No other reason whatsoever. When Gippal saw Rikku, he was glad he at least went in more than just his everyday clothes. It would have been a little bit embarrassing for her to make herself look so nice while he didn’t put any thought into his appearance at all. He took a few moments to look her over, because damn, Rikku. Gippal has never been a fan of red like he was right now.

“The very same could be said for you. You look..amazing, Rikku.” Truly she did. And it took a moment to shake himself out of his daze. Yes, dinner. It was at that time that the Waitresses came over to them and said she could seat them now. She motioned for them to follow and lead the way toward their table.

If if her didn't think it was much, it was still nice on him and she really did mean it. It was simple compared to the clothing they had back at home, but it suited him nicely. She was probably matching him in that aspect, because instead of her normal grins, his compliment brought out a soft shy smile.

"Thank you, but I...," okay she was going to say she always looked amazing but it didn't seem to come out that way, "It took me a while to figure out what to wear."

And with the waitress gesturing for them to follow, she reached for his hand as she followed. With her head direction towards where they were going, she was attempting to hide that light flush on her face.

Leave the having an ego to Gippal, Rikku. He's the one that gets to make those sort of comments, not you. "Well it was time well spent." He said as he took her hand when she reached for it. He gave it a nice little squeeze as he walked along with the waitress.

"Has Yuna already gone out on her date, or is she still back at your place getting ready?" He wanted to know just how their little Yunie was doing on this night that they help to set up.

Rikku can too have an ego, damn it. You don't get to hoard all of it. Or maybe that's just something that she picked up from the jackass that she's obviously crazy about?

"Yep! I made sure to have her out before I left so that I knew that she would actually go on the date. Not that Yunie would ditch something like that when she's a nice person, but just as a precaution," she said with a smile, finally looking back to him.

"So then I have you all to myself..to talk to and share dinner with." And totally nothing else. Nothing romancey at all. Except he's extremely happy to be out with her tonight and for the time that they were going to spend together at dinner.

"I hope she has a good time out. Yuna could really use this after everything back and our world and then suddenly being trapped here."

"That's what it looks like," Rikku said with a grin, taking a seat at the table the waitress led them to. Nothing romancey at all... Despite the fact that everything is decorated for Valentine's Day or that there was a single red rose in the middle of the table to go along with the decorations.

"So do I... I mean... It may have been a bit forceful to get her to go on a date but...," she paused for a moment, reflecting on back home for the first time in months, "she deserves to have a good time. Maybe she's find someone she likes here too?" Although, she'd still love to see Tidus again and see them both reunited... Still, she'll just have to accept that Tidus is still missing... gone... whatever.

"I think so as well. I hope that this date is a nice stepping stone towards that." The biggest thing was always to get back out there, right? And Yuna was doing just that by going out on this date, even if she didn't plan on continuing to date the guy, it was still a great first step.

"So hopefully she will stay out all night with the guy, have a blast and start dating here. What more can we hope for?" Gippal finally picks up his menu from the table and flips it open.

Rikku's already started looking at the menu, but she nodded in agreement. "Yeah. She deserves to be happy. This place isn't that bad once you get used to it," she said.

That being said, she had her best friend here and the guy she shouldn't like but did. And then she had her other friends she's met here. She didn't mind this place. Still, looking absent mindlessly to the menu, she seemed to be looking the same stuff over again.

"Besides, it's nice to have company. It's nice to spend time with someone that you care about. It just makes being stuck here more bearable," was she talking about Yuna yet or something else entirely. Who knew?

That was the question. It could have easily been Yuna, as Rikku did care about her and spend time with her. But he wasn’t sure if she meant care about or care about.

“Tell me about it. When you have someone like that, it can make a lot of things bearable. It could give a guy an easier time adjusting to a place than he initially thought he would have.” He didn’t look up from his Menu as he spoke, he already had an idea of what he was getting now, but he still continued to just look it over.

And she's definitely not smiling behind her menu upon hearing that. Nope. Must be because she found something good that was expensive. Yep. That must have been it. The waitress came by and that's when she realized that she hadn't actually picked anything out. She wasn't even really thinking about what to eat at all.

"Are we ready to order?" the waitress asked them as she set down some water and pulled out a notepad.

"Oh uhm.... Give me a moment," she said, searching for something seriously this time as the waitress asked for Gippal's order.

You really should have actually picked something out instead of being happy about what Gippal had said, Rikku. He closed his menu.

"I'll have the Grilled Bavette Steak & Slow Roasted Beef Brisket." It looked pretty tasty on the menu. Then he looked over to Rikku.

"And the beautiful girl across the table from me will have..maybe the Grilled Cod Fillet? Unless she seems something else that she might like instead."

Shush. That should make you feel better. You're only making matters worse.

"Oh uhm.. No, that would be okay with me," she said, closing the menu to hand it over to the waitress. And with that, the waitress went on her way to put the orders in as she tried to hide her own embarrassment behind a huffy face.

He waited until the waitress was gone, and then he gave Rikku an amused look. "You spent all that time we were sitting here looking at that menu and you didn't decide on something?" He had the time to pick out two items. He'd thought of getting the cod for himself because it looked good, but he also thought Rikku might enjoy it too.

"So..what were you thinking about, then?"

She might have flushed lightly if she wasn't so stubborn about hiding it.

"I.. just couldn't decide on what I wanted. Is that so hard to believe?" she replied back with a huffy tone. She definitely wasn't think about how this was a da--- celebration for Yuna's date.

"Just saying, you spent a lot of time looking at the menu and it didn't look like you were having a hard time. But I guess you could have been." The Waitress brings over their drinks and some breadsticks for their appetizers before leaving once more.

And the waitress coming back with drinks and breadsticks was almost a saving grace because Rikku grabbed one of the breadsticks to nibble on.

"Y-Yeah well.. Obviously you're wrong," but new topic.. quick! "How has work been?" Not much better, but she'll take it.

"Right.." He picks up his drink and takes a sip of it. "Work has been fine. Nothing to really complain about. What about you, Ms. Deputy Guardian? Have you been protecting the peace and making sure everyone in your city is safe?"

"But of course! I've been doing my duties and keeping peace.... and not nearly getting myself killed in the process," Was that a joke? Yeah, I do believe it was. Leaving out the fact that she's also been lining her pockets in the process when out of Everglade.

That goes without saying. Gippal might be a bit worried about her if she stopped stealing completely. Though when he is around her, he is often tempted to check his pants to make sure his wallet is still there..

"So you've been staying out of trouble, then. At least the sort of trouble that can get you killed."

As well as he should. She might have taken a little bit from you... except not because she's been otherwise distracted.

"For the most part, yes. But I can't be killed that easily, y'know?" she said. Never mind the fact that she nearly got herself killed a month or two ago.

"Easily, no. But you can still be killed." Thinking of Rikku dying..genuinely did make his heart hurt some. "So, you know, make sure that doesn't happen. I don't want anything to ever happen to you, Rikku."

He picked up a breadstick and broke it in half before taking a bite of it.

And that sentiment has made her go quiet. She did remember nearly dying and her first thought was how she'd miss Gippal and then of course Yuna would be worried. To be honest, a lot of things went through her mind. She did get in way over her head, but what good would it do to turn tail and run? What would that say for the Guardian of Everglade if she was chicken enough to run? And then were definitely fear, but adrenaline was working faster than fear.

"Of course I won't let that happen, but you never know what will happen at times," said more seriously, but then to save face..., "But to be that worried for me... You must really like me." Was that a little... intentional to get him to say things..? Maybe. Probably.. ~~Yes it was.~~, but he didn't need to know that.

You aren’t nearly as sly as you think, Rikku. While it’s not completely obvious that you might be baiting him, the fact that you could be doing so isn’t that far from his mind. He chewed and swallowed the bread. He could just dodge the comment or use some other method to step around it so he didn't have to respond to it. But he decided against that.

“I could tell you no, but that would be a lie.” Because he really did like her. Her liked her a lot. He didn’t know if he had made it obvious or not, maybe he did. Or maybe he just didn’t make it obvious enough. He was pretty sure that she liked him too. Though he could have just been reading her completely wrong all of this time.

She actually almost expected him to side step that, but he was being strangely straight forward. Honestly, she did sort of know, but she had to bait it out of him a little bit. Hearing him say that was still nice to hear though. She hasn't exactly been secretive with her feelings towards him, despite trying to act like it wasn't true.

She could have just avoided this herself as well, but it was Valentine's Day and they were on a date even if they were disguising it as a celebration. Cheeks a faint red, she grabbed the other half of the breadstick.

"Good to hear that you're being honest; Or at least I hope you are," after taking a bite of the breadstick and swallowing it, "Because I don't know what it'd do if something happened to you, either."

Chalk his straightforwardness up to the time and place. It wasn't like this place was lacking in romance. It had been decorated and dimmed just enough to apply a romantic sort of atmosphere to the place. Candles adorned some places, fresh roses were placed upon some tables. They even had a band there playing some soft, romantic music for all the people eating in the restaurant.

"Well, you don't have to worry about me. You know that I am way more careful than you are."

"Gee thanks for the boost of support," she said, joking a bit.

Looking around, it really was decked for the holiday. Of course she's heard about the holiday and things about it, but actually being on a date with the guy she was crazy about in this setting... It was nice. It made her happy to talk and be around him normally, but times like this were sort of cherished.

"Just... don't randomly disappear on me again... okay?" she added in with a bit more serious tone of voice. She still didn't know what exactly he disappeared for from the time she came from, but she didn't like it. She knew he was a busy guy back home, but to not even have a clue where he was at all for long periods of time both worried her and made her sad. She can deal with the teasing, so long as he was still around.
