[ Since he's gotten here it's been nothing but a mess of events lately and thankfully now it seems like it's calmed down for the most part. He's vaguely aware of the others here besides Nora and Neptune but he hasn't had the chance to really say anything with everything going on. ]

...Are things always so... lively around here or did I come at a wrong time?

[ The last week's events weren't so bad, but the thing with that tower had been especially messy and it was hard to get his bearings. Understanding this place was something else altogether. He seems to frown a bit before shaking his head and continuing on, expression somewhat unreadable but concern can be read after a moment. ]

Either way. It seems like things calmed down.

[ A beat. Ren's never been the most talkative guy around but still. One thing is on his mind. ]

Is everyone alright?

Definitely the wrong time, though I doubt that's your fault.

[ Hi Ren. ] You missed the couple of months where we got to relax, buy a house, and I threw a party.

[ There was a whole bunch of peace he just barely missed. ]

[ It was just like Weiss to just get to the point instead of plain introductions but it was still nice to see familiar faces here and she looked - and sounded - alright by this alone. ]

...I take it by that you've been here a while.

[ A very slight tone of amusement in his voice. The little thing he'd seen near the bay when he arrived said more than anything. ]

Is the rest of team RWBY here with you, Weiss?

A year next month.

[ Which honestly seemed strange to her now that she said it out loud. It'd been quite some time. ]

Yes, along with Neptune, Sun, Nora, Professors Ozpin and Goodwitch, Mercury and his team from Haven, and Roman Torchwick and his lackey with the parasol. [ Wow she didn't mean to put that in order of favorites to least favorites but that's how it came out. ] I think that covers everyone from our world.

[ In a way he kind of picked up on the way she worded who was here, though only partially understood why Torchwick would be essentially last of the people she stated. Their experiences with him weren't exactly great, after all. ]

...I didn't think so many from home would actually end up in this place.

[ Not that it seems bad or anything besides the crazy he saw when he got here. ]

You seem like you're doing alright here. If what i've seen when I arrived was any indicator.

[ Referring to the welcoming message she has set up and everything near where the arrivals wake up in the bay. Hopefully she understands that. ]

[ Weiss's especially were the opposite of great now. ]

I'm doing... [ That's a tough assessment to make. ] Team RWBY has a house, I have a company and a boyfriend and friends. Everything isn't perfect, but with recent exceptions, it's been enjoyable.

[ Wordlessly, even with the news that things really were going well with her managing a company and even getting a boyfriend and more friends, something about everything seemed a little off somehow. ]

...Recent exceptions.

[ He speaks it quietly, repeating it almost to himself before giving her a sort of quiet look. She says enjoyable even with that something that happened but he wasn't the best at asking what happened with her. ]

...If you want to talk about it, I'll listen.

[ Because he's good at that where it regards Nora so there's that. Not that he expects her to just open up, but he's quietly offering if she needs to vent or let it out. ]

It was just...

[ She's trying to get past this. The last people she tried to talk about it to she ended up losing composure in one way or the other. But not telling him entirely would be a detriment to Ren's health. ]

Torchwick cornered Blake and I. We lost. She ended up dead and off somewhere else, I got kept in a sewer for 11 days. It's over now.

[ Brief and to the point. At least that way she wasn't talking about how she felt anymore. ]

[ That's not what he expected, and more than that, he suspected there was more to it despite it's otherwise dark severity. Weiss seemed like she wasn't telling the whole thing and that it bothered her enough that she had hesitated explaining even this much. ]

11 days is a long time. [ A pause. He regards her before continuing. ] You don't seem like you're entirely over it.

Are you going to be alright?

[ It must be fairly serious for him to say so much considering his usually quiet nature, just hoping she didn't find it too invasive or rude. He only spoke out of concern because y e a h. All of that did sound pretty bad to say the least. ]

[ She didn't know if she wanted to tell him or not. He probably didn't need to deal with this kind of a first impression. She couldn't really hide what happened and she didn't want to talk about the details, but flat-out lying was another matter. Weiss takes on a very matter of fact tone, trying to make sure that she doesn't get emotional again. She'd already cried in front of Blake and yelled at Neptune. ]

He didn't let me recover my aura the whole time and somewhere there's a video of it. I have fresh scars that won't heal because I couldn't use my aura for so long and I didn't cooperate. I don't remember a some of the last few days because of dehydration and hunger. It's only been about a week, so no, I'm not entirely over it, but I'm going to be alright soon because I'm not going to give him the satisfaction.

[ As it stood, Ren hadn't as much exposure to the man nearly as much as Weiss and the rest of team RWBY had but he was more than well-aware of it either way. Though something about this just seems MUCH worse than the rest, his brows narrowing into a frown slightly. ]

Coming out stronger from something like that does sound just like you.

[ He means that in a positive light as most people might have broken completely under that kind of torture. She had a strong will, however and that was admirable. ]

What are you intending to do next then, Weiss?

I'm going to focus on my company and hopefully hire some additional security besides myself to be on the safe side.

[ She wasn't completely broken, but she definitely had her fair share of scars beyond the one on her hand. They just weren't ones she was going to let anyone see if she could help it. ]

Then I'm going to see about making sure no one else gets put through something like this.

It seems to jump back and forth between mind-numbingly dull and lollapalooza. Welcome to the former!

[ what luck, that you now get to while away the boredom with idle chitchat with this eloquent gentleman ]

[ It's not like he minds either way as so far his impression of Mercury hadn't been that bad by any means. ]

I don't really mind either.

[ Ren's pretty chill and laid back so it being calm doesn't remotely bother him, and back when it was crazy hadn't necessarily been bad besides a little hectic but not something he hadn't been able to handle. ]

However.

If it goes on too long with nothing going on, it can be a little tiring.

Ugh, don't get me started. When there's nothing to do I can barely figure out what to do with myself. I'm the kind of guy who would rather have too much on his plate than not enough.

[ That, and it's really in everyone's best interests for Mercury to keep busy. A bored Mercury is the most dangerous kind of Mercury there is. ]

What do you do to pass time? I'm desperate and open to suggestions.

[ Ren's quiet for a moment in thought, knowing he can't immediately say what he'd like as not everyone has to deal with Nora's hyper attitude nearly 24-7 like he does. Not that he minds but still. ]

Reading. Practicing martial arts..

[ Because that is a key in how he fights so he practiced to keep himself ready and able to fight. It was also good for endurance. ]

There are a few others but I doubt they qualify as anything interesting to be doing.

[ Reading. Ugh. His nose wrinkles just at the suggestion. At least martial arts is a bit more interesting, but it's not like he didn't already take the time to stay in shape. Doesn't really help him enhance his routine much. ]

You listed reading, so I think we're already scraping the bottom of the barrel here.

[ It wasn't like everyone could be appeased in these sort of situations. Plus he couldn't help that the other things he did involved being AT Beacon so there was that. ]

I'm not quite sure what you would define as something 'interesting' to be doing in the meantime.

[ Try to lay it on him. Really. He's almost curious to the answer. ]

It can be some times. But most of the time it's mellow kind of like it is now.

I see. I was starting to wonder if that sort of thing was a normal occurrence here or not.

[ Somehow with Neptune being here, it should have been expected that Sun was here as well. So it kind of made it remotely less surprising as it might have been to anyone else. He nods a bit, expression quiet and almost unreadable once again. ]

...At least there's sufficient breaks in-between everything, then.

[Sun figured Nora or Neptune would have mentioned that he was here to Ren. Both were staying with Sun. ~~Unless Nora moved out to stay with Ren. Or invited him to stay with them too.~~]

Ren..! [She's surprised but she's also still in the hospital after her own ordeal, but a familiar face is both a welcoming and a bit disconcerting.]

How long have you been here? You didn't get hurt at all, I hope?

I arrived during that incident with that tower... about a few weeks at least.

[ A beat and he takes in her appearance quietly with almost concerned pink-hued eyes before shaking his head. She looks like she's in a hospital so... ]

I didn't. I should be asking that of you, though.

[Eyes widen for a moment when she realizes her bow is off and cat ears are exposed along with the EKG machine behind her.

Clearing her throat, she turns her camera closer to her and shakes her head.] I'm alright.

I'm sorry I hadn't greeted you sooner...had I known you were here.

Are you staying at the apartments with the others?

[ If the idea of her being a faunus bothered him, it sure didn't show on his face by any means, quietly listening to what she had to say before answering. ]

No, it's alright. Things were... chaotic when I arrived before so there wasn't much of a chance to contact anyone then.

[ Plus he'd had to keep an eye on Nora as she ran right into the middle of crazy territory so he'd been dragged into that. ]

For the time being, yeah.

[Offers a faint smile and nod of her head.] It tends to get chaotic around here no matter what...

I'm glad you're with the others though. As horrible as it may sound, it's nice to see a familiar face of a friend.

So I take it how it is now won't last long, then.

[ Ren almost sounded amused at that, even nodding in assent to Blake's words. All of them had kind of been close back home and he did consider team RWBY friends and they were also reliable fighters on top of that. ]

It's not horrible at all. I can understand where you're coming from.

Well, for the sake of wanting things to be normal, I guess we can try to be optimistic about it staying this way. For a while, at least.

[Gives a faint smile but her cat ears fold back a bit against her head in worry that soon presents itself on her features.] Make sure you always have someone with you if you're out... Torchwick; he doesn't seem like he'd hold back from attacking any of us, even our friends like you.

So I hope you'll be safe, Ren.

[ In other words he entirely agrees with that he was all for the idea of being optimistic that things might actually remain like this for a little bit longer. ]

I will. If he intends to try something then I'll make sure I'm not caught by surprise.

[ Hope that assuages some of your worries, Blake. ]

[This from a person who came in just after all the excitement.]

What happened?

...From what I understand there was something to do with a guy in over his head with power. I didn't get here at the start so I don't know everything... but there was a barrier and monsters involved.

[ The simplest explanation is all he can give at the moment; it's also the extent of what he knows. ]

Following that there was something regarding Valentine's day and that was... strange.

Oh. [That sounded unfortunate. Maybe this place isn't really as peaceful as everyone made it sound.] I was here for the Valentine's Day thing. I'd never actually heard of Valentine's Day before...

[The arrows thing itself wasn't too strange to him, to be honest - after the last year, he's used to events that like that don't really make any sense. Even if it was embarrassing, afterward.]

I think the worst of it is over, thankfully. This place seems to go through relentlessly hectic periods, followed by a lull in activity before the next crisis.

It sounds as if you managed to time your arrival perfectly with a series of conflicts that had been brewing for some time now. Hopefully you will have the chance to settle in properly now that messy issue is out the way.

[Midboss was currently resting after said Tower incident, but the troubling thoughts that the battle had brought up were weighing on his mind far more than the injuries were. Thankfully, as a demon, he could heal quickly.]

I hope for that as well.

It's kind of hard to get adjusted when everything else is... ah... well, chaotic.

[ Please forgive him. He's kind of a quiet guy but he's honest if that helps with anything. It is appreciated that the other had said that to him, genuinely hoping it will stay calm for just a little while until he became acclimated to everything this place was. ]

Oui, I imagine that only makes this 'being transported to a strange world' affair more difficult to deal with.

Have you been able to find somewhere suitable to stay?

[He hoped for a quiet time as well. The chaos was not good on anyone's sanity.]

You... kind of came at a bad time...

[Even if Ruby wasn't directly injured like they were, it still affected her morale.]
