OPEN: Schnee Company Security Tryouts
WHO: Weiss, Mercury, Yang, Ren, security job applicants (open), anyone who wants to watch (open)
WHAT: Given the inability to check credentials in Genessia, Weiss's interviews are a little different than normal. This one? It involves staying alive for 10 minutes with someone she knows can fight.
WHEN: Sunday, 8am-10am
WHERE: Attleton's Battle Colosseum
WARNINGS: Violence. Character Death (Jean+Mercury thread).
The Colosseum seemed incredibly public a place to do interviews, but the reality was that there was no guarantee that there wouldn't be stressful situations for fighters. If they had public or performance anxiety, it would be just as bad as someone who couldn't handle the sight of blood or someone who couldn't fight. The crowd was a benefit to add pressure. Plus, the Colosseum had the added benefit of a consequence-free death. They would just wake up in the hospital. Even if she didn't particularly want to see anyone die, it was one way to make sure that anyone hired could handle whatever came at them.
As applicants entered the stadium, they would see Weiss sitting in the first row. What most might consider a 'splash zone,' but she wanted to be able to see the matches. All of them. She was the one hiring, after all. And she needed to be able to time it and make sure that all of the testers followed the rules too. Two of them she knew would be fine, but one she had a significant lesser opinion of. At least it would all work out. So line up, applicants.
[ OOC: So here's how this is going to work. If your character would like to apply for a security job at Schnee Company, they need to reply to this post with the subject line "Applicant." After that, one of the testers (Yang, Mercury, or Ren) will reply to it and the characters will fight. The character must survive the fight for 10 minutes, and may be ranked hire as an applicant if they actually win their fight. If they die or are knocked unconscious during the fight, they will automatically wake up in the infirmary, but be disqualified from getting the job. They can disqualify themselves by stating that they yield during the thread. Weiss will providerude honest opinions of the fight once it's over and also be playing the role of referee to make sure the timing and yields are upheld.
If you want to be an audience member, you can make your own thread, handwave and mention in later threads, or yell things in the middle of fights to distract applicants. If an audience member goes onto the field during someone else's fight, they will be considered a bystander and the applicant must protect them as well as themselves. If the audience member wins the fight for the applicant, the applicant is disqualified. ]

Audience
And thus, he had settled himself a couple of rows back to watch the fights. This should be interesting.]

After a few moments, he glances back with an all too innocent looking smile.]
I heard there was some kind of fighting display going on.
no subject
Indeed. I believe the Schnee Company are conducting a rather...unique variety of job interviews.
[Unique by this world's standards anyway. In the Netherworld, this was hardly abnormal.]
It should pose for an interesting display, certainly.

Even if most of Levi's fighting was done against titans, he did have experience on fighting with people close to his size as well. He was confident that this would go well, but he also wasn't about to let his guard down because of how many different kinds of people there were.]

Hey!
[She didn't bother letting her gauntlets unfold yet, keeping them as bracelets as she shifted into a basic 'ready' posture, fists up. She probably looked pretty silly!]
Whenever you're ready.

Levi took the swords from his gears as he got ready. He did know how to fist fight if needed, but he was more efficient with weapons in hand. The open area would be slightly difficult to use the 3D's to full extend, but they could be used... well, as long as he didn't hit the audience or something. He would be a pretty bad security man if he did.
He'd make it work, somehow. For now, he just ran towards the girl to close the distance, ready to attack with one of the swords.]

Sorry about how late this is.
That's alright, I'm pretty slow with this

He noted Weiss sitting there and remembered her as the one on that hologram upon his arrival. Seems like she was quite capable for someone around his age. That made working here all the more interesting, if he got the job. The only thing holding him back was his illness but he'd be damned if he was going to let that get in his way. ]

He's quite a quiet guy but he wouldn't be here if he couldn't at least hold his own well in a fight. Readying his weapons and shifting his stance into a offensive one as he regarded Cyrus. ]
We can start whenever you're ready.

[ He's totally got this introduction thing before fighting each other to the death. Nailed it. His chest will begin to glow as he mutters something under his breath and he'll actually pull out two weapons from the light. A long spear with multiple pronged edges and a sickle with a morning star attachment on its end. His stance shifts into an offensive position before there's a flicker of light beneath his feet. A large green sigil will erupt beneath him and he'll dash forward at an inhumanly fast speed. He'll slash to right with his sickle while thrusting his spear towards Ren's center. ]

She's almost tempted to go try it herself, she is waterbending master after all, but... No, the girl is just going to watch it today as she is not going to apply for a position as security. She could, but figures it might be best to do something else for job here.
She'll take a seat from a few rows back, but anyone can also find her walking around before and after the tryouts.
And if anyone happens to need a healer, well here's one with waterbending skills for that too. Katara is definitely going to see if that skill is needed too, since she hasn't actually -- mentioned it anywhere yet, but she really should fix that sooner or later.]
before Levi's test
Though it was pretty uncomfortable, he had to admit.]
aye aye, captain ... no wait, wrong muse

After getting Mikasa's permission to borrow her gear, he stood in the arena, taking in his surroundings while he still had the chance. The gear probably wouldn't matter in the future if he succeeded, unless they found a way to replicate the technology, but he might as well be at his best. He eyed Weiss in the front row. She wasn't exactly impressive to look at, but she must be confident to sit that close to the action. If she had the influence to stage this, there was a reason. Appearances were deceiving, and he wasn't going to underestimate anyone. He waited for his competition to show up.]

It was all aboard the hype train, and Mercury's been waiting with some impatience as other applicants were assigned partners that weren't him. It was maddening to watch fights without knowing when he'd finally get to his but the time was here at last - even so he kept an air of indifference about him as he strolled into the arena with a lazy saunter, eyeing his target with an indecipherable smirk as he studied the weird device he was strapped into. At a glance Mercury might appear unarmed, though one might think his boots looked a little unusual. ]
Think you brought enough gear, buddy?

Want to see how fast we can get this over with?
[He decided to gauge his fighting style for now and withdrew his swords, keeping his body low, and charged.]

Should anyone have a question or a problem, audience member or contestant, he's the one they should go to - since Weiss' opinion is far more important in watching the matches, he also takes as his job the handling of any distractions before they should reach her.
He's a little nervous, since it's one of the first days on the job - and more than that, he's not sanguine about the possibility of his friends dying in the arena, no matter what anyone says about its safety. Even if there are no physical consequences - which, not understanding how it works, he's not confident in - he's gone through that before, and he doesn't want anyone else to have to feel it.
Still, he bears up well under the pressure, even managing to smile and act friendly and encouraging.]

[ Between one of the fights, Weiss at least appears to be interested in making sure her employees are doing well. She'd been a little worried about Armin's lack of technological experience, but she'd hired him nonetheless. He seemed pretty on top of things after all.
But Weiss wasn't blind. She could catch onto the nerves and apparent concern Armin was exhibiting. Might as well figure out why. ]

[He looks back out at the field.] A lot of my friends are trying out for the job. I know you said it's safe, and I believe you, but... believing something intellectually and believing it emotionally are two different things, I guess.

I suppose you want me to attack you first?
[She questioned. Being a rather skilled strategist- she usually allow her opponent to attack first unless the element of surprise was on her side. She also was completely unsure how this process worked. She crossed her arms in front of her chest and blinked a couple of times- waiting for a response]

He glanced up at the stands, grinning a bit, fond memories of the World Martial Arts tournaments he'd competed in flooding back. Even if he never won, they were some of his happiest memories, just competing with Goku, Tien, and the rest.
"Alright, I'm ready whenever you are," he called once he spotted Weiss.

The shout comes from the stands where Mercury has been watching and waiting for his turn to come up again, and he's already hopped into the arena before anyone can stop him. He regards the little bald man with a cheerful grin, even going so far as to bow.
"The Schnee Company thanks you for your interest, but do you have a signed permission slip from your parents?"

Walking in with full gear and even her scout uniform on, she waited patiently for her time, respectfully saluting her. It had been a while since she last did it since being here, so it felt a little strange after so long.]
