ＡＣＴＩＯＮ, ＯＰＥＮ ＴＯ ＡＮＹＯＮＥ

Zuko hadn't been to work in a while. He took a temporary leave of absence following Weiss's kidnapping and subsequent rescue, determined to keep a watchful eye on her in case Torchwick was foolish enough to go after her again. But time had passed and Torchwick had yet to make a move, and Weiss had recovered enough that he felt comfortable with backing off a little. (Besides, he was sure she knew that he had essentially spent the past month tailing her.) And while the dragon problem in Fayren wasn't as much of a dilemma as it had been, it was still something that required attention.

Which was why the Deputy Guardian could be found in various parts of Fayren throughout the day, from the streets of the city itself to the more mountainous and forested areas where the dragons tended to dwell. It was important to ensure that the native populations remained unharmed and those human-like dragons that had seen to capturing virgins were eradicated.

You said we were supposed to be friends now, that you forgave me for what I did in Ba Sing Se and, you know, everything else? If that's true, then I would like to ask you for a favor.

"Going out of my way is kind of my job," he points out, being that making sure the human-dragons didn't wander off with anyone else is why he's out here in the first place. "And it's not far. Just a mile or so up the road. I'd be happy to escort you."

[switch_over]

"Hm, Is that so? And just what is your job? I've heard mention of some Guadrians, are you one of them?" Odds were if he was odds were she'd end up becoming his enemy when she started to collect misfortune energy, but that wasn't something he needed to know.

She'll flash him a light smile. "Well if you insist, I'd enjoy to have you show me the way." She'll say as she gestures for him to lead he way.

[banishment]

"My younger sister is Fayren's Guardian. I'm the Deputy Guardian, he second in command."

He did insist, and was glad she relented. Had she not, he likely would've been suspicious. Zuko wasn't always the trusting kind, and with the kinds of tricks these human-dragons were able to pull, it was better not to be.

[switch_over]

"Your... Younger sister is in charge, while you follow her lead? Hm, that seems a litle backwards, wouldn't you say?" Perhaps it wasn't her place to pry, but she was doing it anyways.

[banishment]

"It was a democratic election," Zuko explained. "She ran, I didn't. When she was voted into office, she asked me to serve with her. Having guardianship of Fayren has nothing to do with being first or second in line for a throne to a country that doesn't exist here."

[switch_over]

"I see."

There was a pause as she glanced down toward the ground before looking back o him.

"So... You're a prince then? And she's princess? Back where you're originally from, at least." They hadn't really introduced themselves yet, so that was an interesting little tidbit of information for her.

[banishment]

Oh. Right. He forgets that not everyone is aware of who he and his sister are. It's a reputation and title he's unable to shake back home, and become part of his status here.

Zuko nodded. "That's right. Our father is Fire Lord -- King -- of the Fire Nation, the country we're from."

[switch_over]

"Ah, well I suppose I should be honored that I have a royal escort back to town then, shouldn't I?" She gave a smile that wasn't really all here.

"Are there many here from your world? Seems like a strange coincidence that this place took both you and your sister."

[banishment]

Zuko couldn't fault her for that hollow smile. His smiles weren't always genuine, even when they were necessary.

He turned, leading her back towards the main trail. "There's a few of us, but I wouldn't say many. There are others from other worlds with larger numbers in Genessia. My sister and I were brought here at different times. I was here first, then she came."
