008: In The Shadows of the Labyrinth [Video, Backdated to March 4th]

[By now, Midboss at least had a good chance to work out exactly what was going on. He hadn't wanted to send out a message before then, because really, he did not want to look clueless in front of his people.

...Of course, that didn't mean he had any idea how to resolve the situation, as it stood.

When he opened the feed, the demon could be seen heading down one of the winding hallways of the maze, trying his best to hide his irritation behind a calm face.]

Greetings, everyone. For those who have not met me, I am The Dark Adonis Vyers, City Guardian of Attleton.

As I'm sure you have all been made aware, the city has been overrun by a Labyrinth. I hope everyone within the city is unhurt and has been able to find a place to shelter until the worst of this is over, but if anyone is lost or needs assistance, tell me and I will try to come and find you. In the meantime, I am endeavouring to find out the cause of this mess and try to resolve it as quickly as possible. I want to apologise to anyone who's been caught up in it.

From what I have observed, there are monsters in the maze. These creatures appear human, but once they are provoked or chose to attack, they reveal their true forms. To that point I believe that they could be connected to the dragons that attacked Fayren.

Until this is over, I ask everyone to avoid Attleton if you can, and to those of us who are still in the city, please be careful. I will update you all as soon as I find out anything else.

[At that point, Midboss thinks he turned off the feed. However, unknown to him, it continues recording as he holds it loosely in one hand by his side. Anyone still watching will get a rather fetching view of Midboss' jeans.

Finally, he finds the way back to his house, only to find his carefully handpainted "Beauty Mansion" signpost broken into pieces outside. The camera shows the sad remains as the calm, composed City Guardian promptly flails in the way only a true drama queen can manage. He still doesn't realise he's being recorded.]

W-what...my glorious signpost...A truly vicious strike against moi and the beauty it represents...! Unforgivable, this is an UNFORGIVABLE INSULT!! Who would do such a vile thing?!

[Laharl will just be chilling on the couch when he responds.]

I did it. It was a stupid sign.

[Midboss is a little startled to hear the communicator speak up again in the middle of his rage, but once he recognises ~~his loving son~~ Laharl's voice, the anger quickly returns.]

Stupid...?! That sign represented my glorious self!! I wanted to give our house a name truly fitting of someone of my splendour and DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG IT TOOK TO MAKE THAT BEAUTIFUL PIECE OF ART?! HOW COULD YOU DESTROY IT LIKE THAT?!

First of all, beauty doesn't mean crap to demons. Power is all that matters. Even succubi know that and use their looks for misdirection. Secondly, it looked really freaking stupid.

[Tacky is the word he would've used if he didn't mind Mid-Boss knowing he has a taste of the arts himself. NOBODY CAN KNOW.]

[Yup, he'll be turning the communicator off as he storms inside to yell at him in person.]

Besides, of course I know the value of power, being one who embodies it as fully as I do my beauty!

You don't need a sign you moron. If you were really my rival, you'd know simple stuff like that! Signs are for overcompensating losers.

[Pointed stare goes here.]

[He was attached to his signpost, okay?]

Look up "overcompensate" and "loser" in the dictionary, and your picture will be there.

[No, seriously do it, Laharl taped your picture to those pages. Do it, Laharl needs the laugh.]

Look at me, for example. I kicked Baal's ass. I'm the strongest Overlord the Netherworld has ever known. Do I need a sign outside my castle saying "BIG BADASS CASTLE OF BADASSITUDE"? No. I lead by example.

[He does blow up stars to remind people how badass he is though.]

Hmph! Fine, and I will prove to you those words are nothing to do with moi!

[And thus, he falls for the bait utterly and goes to grab the dictionary, flicking through it.]

You may have defeated Baal, but to truly strike awe into any who would stand against you, you need to understand presentation! My great beauty assists me of course, but a sign to show my greatness! That acts as a true warning!

[Give him a minute...]

[And watch the Midboss splutter as he sees his pictures taped in there.]

[Pardon Laharl's laughing.]

I can't believe you actually fell for that!

[he's just going to be moving those pictures to the pages marked 'power' and 'beauty' now thank you very much.]

[In all his raging, though? Midboss, despite himself, started chuckling. After having Laharl disappear on them after the argument against Flonne? It was...strangely comforting to have his son home safely.

But somehow, the words 'welcome home', or 'I'm glad to see you've come back okay' didn't quite find their way out. Instead...]

Well, now that you have returned... I WILL MAKE YOU REGRET THIS INSULT AGAINST MOI! EN GUARD!!

[Well, it's nice to be home, and to have the tension with Flonne resolved. However, he can't exactly say that either. Kind of like he inherited it from somewhere... Instead, he just pulls his sword from his pocket with a grin.]

If you really want to go, I'd be glad to rearrange your face, and give your "beauty manor" a nice makeover in the process.

[ the meltdown at the end over something so seemingly trivial aside, the pink-suited warrior is glad to see attleton's guardian finally stepping up to the plate; though it sounded like he was on top of things all along, and simply waited until now to speak up about it publicly. hopefully, knowing that he was doing something about the situation and warning people, it would put more minds at ease. ]

[After taking a few moments to cool down after the vicious, vicious destruction of his signpost, he answered the video. This was not someone he was he was familiar with.]

Ah? Thank you... I do appreciate the assistance. I think there are a fair few people who have been displaced as a result of this unfortunate situation.

I can do a few daily sweeps through what I'm able to access of the labyrinth. It might help with locating people before their absences are noticed.

It's a possibility, but given the nature of this place and the multiple worlds that are represented here, that's likely not the case. I've never heard of the Prism Rangers, just the Power Rangers.

Do the Prism Rangers look anything like me?

[ helmet, spandex... you get the picture. suit design was ultimately different, but even the aquitian rangers looked like them while morphed. ]

Yes, they dress in a very similar fashion, except with a small rainbow design on their uniforms. They were aiming to gather a member for each colour in the rainbow.

[The Prism Rangers certainly had very similar helmet/spandex type uniforms.]

I don't exactly think that your signpost being knocked over is the biggest problem Attleton has right now, you may have lost some inspiration points with your city's residents.

Regardless, are you hurt? Are there any landmarks near you, aside from the maze?

[She shakes her head slightly.]

I came across one of those creatures, but I'm fine. I dealt with it. As for landmarks.

[She is just going to turn her device around showing off her surroundings both high and low.]

[He studied the area around her, then looked around himself.]

Alright, stay on the communicator and I will come find you, I think I know where you are.

[With that, he started off down the maze's passages.]

[Yuuki was going to keep her hands near her thigh just in case something else were to happen before he got there, but thankfully all seemed quiet for now. Or so she would like.]

[At least she was still on Guard, Midboss thought as he began to head towards where he thought she was. At least it was quiet, but he wasn't certain how much time he had.]

[Yuuki was thankfully still fine when she could finally see the other, waving her arm in the air. But she stopped that the moment she heard something coming from behind her, she grabbed her rod and swung around. Nothing was there, but she couldn't be certain of that for long.]

[Aha! There she was, Midboss heard that noise as well, and quickly moved in, ready to punch out anything that might come and attack them.]

Are you alright?

[She nodded slightly, her rod now behind her for the moment. She was ready for anything.]

I'm fine. i'm surprised I am really, but I can handle myself for a time.

Alright. Well, our first job should be to find the way out of this place. I can fight any monsters that come after us of course.

Then... would it be a good idea to keep to the left as we go? Also I can handle myself to an extent, but my rod is more effective on other creatures, not the ones in the maze.

[Flonne was actually at work at the moment, but she felt the need to say something. What to say though? She clearly wanted to help any way she could...]

Well uhm... I... don't know what help I would be but... If there's anything I can do, let me know.

Ah, Flonne, are you alright? We've been having...minor difficulties in Attleton, as you can probably tell. If you intend to come back tonight, do let me know so I can come find you?

Also, you really need to teach Laharl how to respect fine art! He destroyed the beautiful signpost I made!

[She doesn't want to be a bother to him.]

Are you sure that was Laharl-san's work? I mean... I'm sure he might have, but I don't want to confront him about it if you're not totally sure it was him.

Still, we might be better off if there's two of us, just in case.
