1st Night

[The recording clatters to the ground showing a young boy pounding on a door with small fists. He's in front of the mysterious Wish Shop in Fayren, his feet having lead him there without his consent but now that he was there all he could think about was his little brother and how no one would tell him where he was. Was he hurt?! Injured! Sick! He had a fever the last time he saw him and he... he didn't know how to get back before dark. He knew how much Ichiru hated sleeping alone, he couldn't stay here. He couldn't!]

I need to go home! Ichiru's sick! Let me in!

[Knowing his efforts did nothing to further his cause, Zero pulled back long enough to figure out a plan. He knew - He just knew his answers lay inside. They could tell him where Ichiru was - in his heart he knew it - and no one would stop him from getting back home. Spotting a way up, the young boy fit his small foot into a sliver of protruding rock and used it as a stepping stone and started climbing up determined to get inside.]

[Up above Zero instantly stiffened.]

Papa?!

[He immediately looked around, his little head going this way and that searching for his father when his foot suddenly slipped and he lost his footing altogether.]

Pa--

[Oh, right. He did sounds older to Zero, so maybe he did... sounds like him. But this was no time to worry about that.]

Zero, are you alright?

[He managed to hold on for a good five seconds longer before his fingers finally slipped on the smooth surface of the rock protruding out just a bit and fell down a good five feet. Luckily, Yagari had taught him how to fall properly and he managed to land without hurting himself by absorbing it with mainly his feet as his hands touched down.]

---!!

[Once on the ground, Zero grabbed at the recording and in a hurried tone:]

Pap---

[The rest of the word got stuck in his throat as he took in the figure that certainly wasn't his father. He looked like him, but it was... off.]

........

[What was going on?!]

[At least he looked alright, that was a relief. Though explaining this... might... be a bit difficult. How did he explain it to a little older brother?]

Zero, listen... I know you. You actually know me. This place has just... made things complicated for us, it seems.

[He was supposed to mostly hate Zero, but look at him, how can he now??]

[His small brows furrowed down in disbelief. This was wrong... he looked like.... but he wasn't.... who... who was he??!! Papa didn't have a brother! And how did he know his name?!]

[A tert response, and one uncharacteristic of him. But this... were they trying to trick him?! He was halfway to the top when he interrupted him. Was he trying to stop him from going inside?]

You don't remember me when I looked like this, no... you haven't met "me" yet.

[Should he say he's a relative, after all? Then again, they both know their family doesn't have that many relatives because they're from a hunter one. Uh...]

Remember that woman by the cherry tree, Zero? We both saw her and you pulled me away because I didn't know she was a vampire.

[Small brows creased in utter disbelief.... that woman by the cherry tree... you pulled me away...]

[How did he... light eyes raced over his face. He wasn't Papa but he..... what was going on!!! How did he know that! Only Ichiru knew of that. He hadn't told their parents and no one else..... ]

... Who... are you?

Like I said, this place does weird things.

[There's a smile on Ichiru's face. A bit sad, but... for the first time in Genessia it's actually a pure one.]

I'm Ichiru... I just grew up.

[His small chest tightens. How... how could he.... he was older, older than Kaito which meant.... all those times he'd woken up with nightmares fearing for his brother's life... it had all been for nothing. He had... the medicine had worked. Slowly.... very slowly his vision started to get blurry, and when he blinked to get it back into focus, tears streamed down his cheeks following the curve of his jaw.]

..... Ichiru?

[Zero was... crying? Well, considering how they hadn't know how long Ichiru would survive when they were kids it... wasn't a surprise. Still, somehow it pained him to see his older brother - even if he was now a small kid - crying like this. Zero was always so strong and never cried.]

Yes... that's right.

Where are you? Do you want me to come for you?

[He wiped them away with the back of his sleeves but more took their place landing on the device. He wiped them too, before a small thumb cleared up the lens so he could better look at.... Ichiru? That was... Red eyes stared back at his other half. He looked so big. Like their father but... different.]

I don't know where I am. [His feet had just taken him there. It'd felt like a pull he couldn't ignore, similar to the one that always drew him to his younger twin.]

[That was a problem. Ichiru didn't know the place all too well yet, so he couldn't just run around looking for Zero.]

Are there any kind of signs? Or people you could ask?

[He moved away from the shop. Now that he'd found Ichiru the pull to find the wish shop faded leaving him with the familiar one that tied him to his other half.]

Where are you? [He asked instead, his small feet already taking him to the first place he saw. It was teeming with people. He was sure one of them could tell him how to get to his brother's location. After all, he didn't want to bother Ichiru. What if he was too far? He couldn't expect Ichiru to walk so far to get him. No, he made up his mind. He'd find Ichiru himself. That's what big brothers were for.]

[No, bitty Zero, Ichiru wanted to find you since kids get lost more easily, gosh!!]

I'm at Amagi inn, which is in Genessia. It's pretty easy to find, but I can meet you half-way...

[ Okay, Ishtar. No scaring little kids this time-- and no random outbursts of people's names. They're strangers as far as she should be aware. ]

Hey sweetie...you shouldn't do that. The owners might get really angry.

[ She replied softly giving him a worried glance. ]

[A foot above her head, Zero took a moment to tighten his grip so he could look down at the stranger. He didn't recognize her and she wasn't a vampire.]

..... Ichiru has a fever. I need to get back home.

[Angry or not, he had to do it.]

[ Zero, we're not going top be difficult here. She's the adult, you should listen to her like a good boy, but really, she wasn't expecting him to be all that receptive of her comment. ]

...Really? I saw someone that looked like you in this place not too long ago.

[ Let's at least try to reassure him. ]

Please don't do that you'll get hurt.

[His eyes instantly gained some life, and he turned more fully to her.]

You saw Ichiru?!

Talked maybe. I don't know him personally. I just talked to someone that looks kinda like you...ish... yeah.

Well, details. Why don't we get you down and stuff before you hurt yourself kiddo?

[He instantly started climbing down and a minute later small feet landed safely on the ground before the boy went to pick up the discarded device.]

Where did you see him?! [He quickly asked.] Was he sick?!

Not sure. I gave him directions a while ago to the Cat's Eye Cafe. Maybe someone saw him there? I don't keep tabs on all the folks here but I see them come and go sometimes.

Sick? No...not that I could see.

[ Acting is hard, so hard. Well, the other guy seemed healthy enough. Thank goodness he landed safely. She would have probably panicked if the little boy hurt himself. ]

Cat's eye? [He didn't know that place.] Where's that?

Yeah, it's a Cafe my friend works at. It has nice stuff and good food. It's a walk aways. I can try to take you there if you want, though I can't guarantee you'll find who you're looking for.

[ She replied and well Ishtar wasn't leaving a kid on his own especially with what kinds of people are out there. ]

[He quickly nods. Even if he wasn't there, he could ask the people there if they'd seen him. It was more than grateful.]

Thank you. I don't--[He stops mid-sentence, remembering what the necklace had said about the papers, and pulls out a handful of bills handing them to her.] I don't have anything else to repay you with.

[ It might be his best bet. Ishtar was used the Zero and Ichiru she knew, so telling them apart was easy, but to most people, they probably look similar enough to have two and two put together. Sadly, though it brought back memories. She smiled a bit, brighter this time as he said those lines. She pats his head. ]

Hey, hey no need to get like that. You don't have to repay me. I just don't like seeing people devastated. Family is important.

[ She replied as she said those words to him, though something else clicks in her mind. ]

How about this-- be my friend?

[ She replied kneeling down to him. ] At least then you can have someone to rely on here.

[His small brows furrow disconcern crossing those lilac eyes. Why did she want something like that? Zero didn't understanding, so he kept quiet neither denying or accepting the proposal.]

... I rely on Yagari-sensei.

[ Well, Ishtar was a strange person to begin with, so she would request small things like that. It meant more to her than money or valuables. Ishtar's going to assume the silence means he was okay with that. ]

Is that your teacher?

[ She didn't remember too much of the language but it was something like that right? ]

[This was kind of a sight she was never expecting to see and honestly... Didn't know how to react. She could tell already he was from a time before he knew her, which in her mind might be a good thing. He was happy at least.]

I wish I could send you home, but Ichiru is okay, I can at least tell you that.

[Zero looked at the screen at the older girl. He didn't recognize her and wondered if she was from another of those world's they told him about, but that wasn't the reason he looked at her now, no. She had mentioned Ichiru. Did she know where he could find him! He needed to find him and make sure he was okay. He didn't look sick on the recording but that didn't mean anything to a worried older brother. He had to see with his own eyes only then would this restlessness leave him.]

You know Ichiru?

We've... spoken before, but I can't say I know him very well.

[Which was true, she really knew nothing about him, but even so it didn't mean that she wasn't going to help.]

Do you know where he is?

I have some idea he is in Genessia somewhere.
