[For a girl wearing the same outfit she has since she arrived, she looks pretty good. Quinn can't show her face to the public otherwise.]

Um, hey, everyone. I just got a new place and now I need a job. Um, something in fashion or working with cute animals? I checked the paper but scrolling through all the listings made my eyes hurt so can anyone tell me if they're hiring? Preferably doing makeovers or giving clothing advice or taking care of cute little puppies and bunnies.

Makeovers? Why would anyone need that?

[Says a guy who wears the same black clothes every day.]

Cause it's fun and sometimes people really do need a new look!

[He runs his fingers through his hair to fix it.]

Is that something you do often?

What's not fun about it? You get to try on new outfits, makeup, get your hair done...even guys can get them, only without the makeup. Unless they need to cover a zit or something.

Only all the time!

[He beams with pride at the mohawk/mullet hybrid that he favours.]

Where I'm from I only have this outfit. Think of it as a uniform of some kind. I did do someone's hair, I'll admit I enjoyed that. Maybe this makeover thing isn't so weird.

Yeeeah, I can tell. [If a guy with that hair ever asked her out, oh boy...]

Uniform? That's so...oppressive. Doesn't it get boring?

Not half as boring as my room. Everything is white. With a side of white. Not the least bit inspiring.

I don't mind my uniform, it's all I have.

Everything?! That's awful!

But doesn't it get boring sometimes?

I got an apartment here and I met someone who painted a mural for me. It's awesome!

[He chuckles.]

Maybe, but if I get bored of something I just play my sitar.

Oh, really? That's nice! What's it a mural of? And...sitar? What's that?

I got her to do a mural for me of the beach. Sand, sunshine, water..there's even a dolphin jumping out of it. Really brightens the place up!

[Laughter is allowed Quinn.]

This is my sitar, Arpeggio.

[He summons it out of thin air and shows it off with pride.]

Aww, that sounds so pretty! And dolphins are really cute, too! And-

Did you just...did that just come out of thin air?!

It did. Think of it like magic. You haven't met anyone else with magic here yet?

[She's the first person to even question that.]

[He holds up his palm and creates a music note out of water, also pulled out of thin air.]

I'm Quinn. [just kinda stares at the music note. This is so weird.]

[He smiles and changes the note to a dolphin.]

Nice to meet you, too. Your element? Does that mean you can swim really well and stuff like that?

I've been known to swim really well, yeah. What it really means is that I can use water for all sorts of things, taking control of it, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

You can control it? Like, make the ocean move whenever you want it to or wherever? Or make it rain?

Well, I can't move any oceans across the world or anything, but I can make waves if I'm there or something.

[He smiles.]

I can make it rain. I can make it fog too, since it's just mist, but it would take a lot of my powers to do either one of those things. Burning out would be pretty bad.

Mostly I control the water with my sitar, by playing music.

Wow...you sound like someone out of a fantasy movie or one of those games the nerds at my school play. Except having those powers in real life is probably pretty cool. If I had power over water I'd control the rain, so it wouldn't mess up my hair if I was walking someplace.

Oh! That would be easy! [Demyx grins.] All you have to do is push the water away around your head. No real power required for that and your hairstyle remains untouched. I understand, I work hard on my look.

Wow! I kinda wish I had that power now, then I wouldn't have to ruin my hair by wearing a hat when it rains.

Katherine is going to start an animal shelter in Attelon.

You could probably try working in one of the clothing places at the mall.

Have you checked the job center? It's a little easier than scrolling through the paper.

Oh yeah, the job center! Why didn't I think of that. I'll go to the mall, then, one of the clothing stores has to be hiring. And if not that, animals are always nice!

The job center really helped me.

I'm sure customers would appreciate your fashion advice.

[ Not that he has any understanding of fashion. He comes from a place unaffected by the Industrial Revolution.]

I'll make an appointment there tomorrow. If I don't start bringing in some money soon I'll run out of outfits!

Good idea. It didn't even occur to me to make an appointment.

No, not really. But I've got great color sense! And I can make friendship bracelets out of string and beads!

Maybe you can work with me as a sort of "spin-off" gig. Make accessories to go with outfit commissions I get if that's what the customer wants, you know? And if you end up helping with any ideas for the outfits, I'll give you a small portion of what I earn from it. Okay?

[Quinn may have just squeed out loud at that offer.]
