[Locked] The Guardian is: IN - Backdated to the 17th
Thanks to the previous guardian, the Nova City Guardian quarters is the tallest building in Nova City. While it is otherwise the most plain amongst all the flashing lights and holograms of other buildings, perhaps that is what makes it stand out the most.
It is a straightforward, mostly metal structure, and on all four sides of the building the glowing symbols that once shaped as a 'W' had been redesigned to look like a shield with a star emblem. There is only one visible (normal) entrance and they're sliding doors.
But let's get to the point, shall we?
The first two floors of the HQ is about as one might expect a police office to look like (cubicles and the like). Rather old-school in structure, because the Guardian is a bit slow to catch up on all this newfangled future technology, but there is a smattering of nu-tech here and there.
There's plenty of room. It's very open room with multiple lifts along the sides of the walls to get to the second floor.
Satsuki is one of the many people about the very busy office- There's a lot to do today, and most of the buzz is because of the testing of a brand-new patrol vehicle. There is of course plenty of room for improvement but every project needs to start somewhere- and she had just the person in mind. Now just to wait for him to arrive..

Not that it meant that he was able to find one that worked for him, as the regular entry level ones just didn't appeal to him. Taking in a bit of research on how the cities worked, it was the talk of guardians and the ones that worked beneath them that got his interest and through that helped him figure out what he wanted to do. Something that would help him make use of his time here and be useful while utilizing his years of work within the CCG.
Tracking down the names and locations of the various guardians for the cities hadn't been all that hard, but he had to pick one that hadn't yet appointed a deputy guardian. So that brought him to Nova City until he stood before the headquarters, dressed neatly in his white and black CCG uniform and a nervous smile on his face before he shook his head and walked in without the hesitation that showed briefly beforehand.
Once inside, he strolled up to the front counter area with such a friendly, but professional smile in place as he greeted the person behind it. "Hello! My name is Haise Sasaki. Would I be able to speak to the Guardian of Nova City? A miss... Kiryuin?"
no subject
"That is fine, I will take it from here." It would appear Satsuki Kiryuin was not far off and just so happened to be walking in the pair's general direction. She is adorn in an outfit that is an amalgam of a japanese school and a military uniform- Though it mostly stands out as her uniform is white while most everyone else's is either grey or black.
She stands straight and proud as her sharp gaze shifts from the officer to Haise, and asks in a flat yet not entirely unwelcoming tone, "I am Satsuki Kiryuin. What can I do for you, Sasaki."
no subject
Making sure his own posture is standing firm and tall, he schools his expression into a calm but amiable one as he fully faces her. "Upon my time here, I was informed of the guardians that protect each city and that every guardian has a deputy guardian that works under them. I'd like to apply to be your deputy guardian, Miss Kiryuin." Haise answered without any sign or hesitation in his voice as if he wanted this then he would do whatever he could to prove he was worthy enough.
Each guardian probably had their own ways of doing things and he was willing to do anything she requested of him.

She then turns and heads to the circular lifts along the wall side with a blinking pad upon it's stand. Once he's joined her, she waves her hand across it causing the disk to raise them several floors upward.
"I confess I am curious to know why you have taken interest in this particular Sub-City. Have you taken residence here?"
no subject
Nodding in assent to her words, Haise easily follows after her with an unwavering stride while quietly taking everything in. The technology here was so advanced, making everything about this place more and more interesting and he did wish to know more. He could only hope for the best, and while it would remain unsaid due to his wish of not wanting to ever boast about such a thing, he was skilled for someone of only 22 years old and it was something he hoped to prove to Satsuki herself.
"Nova City is by far the most intriguing kind of city i've ever seen, it's fascinating and an entirely new experience for me. Something about it drew me here all on it's own." Haise offered with a small nod of his head, gaze never leaving her but he did attempt a light smile despite the seriousness of their conversation. "I actually live over in Genessia but traveling for work has never really been a problem for me."

The duo reach a particularly high floor, and when the disc comes to a stop, ahead of them is a short hallway that leads to a sliding door that open to her office. It isn't very welcome in appearance: very lightly decorated, mostly cold steel and a window that looks over the city. She's been meaning to work on it but lets face it, decorator is likely not high on her list of things to do. "You and I both. It has taken me a while to understand most of the technology here and some of it is still beyond me. It is quite fascinating." Though she also relies on it to overcome her much weaker understanding of magic. But that topic can come at another time.
She gestures for him to take a seat in front of her desk then takes her own at the opposite end. "There are a couple of things I want you to understand. Being a Guardian here in Nova City is more than simply defending people. It is about defending the values of order and discipline. I am aware that many individuals here possess a.. Shaky past. It is my duty to set those who join me upon a path more useful to the general public." a brief pause, "If there is anything you have done to wrong others here in Genessia upon your arrival, now would be a good time to mention so that we can get you to a good start, Sasaki."
no subject
In passing he does take it in as he walked along with her, nodding quietly in muted assent before sitting down in front of her desk as soon as she'd indicated for him to. She has his complete attention as she speaks, though the words themselves made him falter just a touch despite it doesn't completely show on his face other than his smile fading a touch. As it stood he'd been a good citizen for the most part, but there was definitely something that had happened and while he'd like to keep it to himself, this was a matter that demanded his complete honesty.
"It's... not much but I might as well be up front about it. I'm... not exactly human and about 10 days ago, I briefly lost control of myself and I attacked a boy who'd been trying to help me. It was an accident and i've vowed not to let that happen again, but... that still happened and it's the one thing i've done here to wrong anyone. Unintentional as it was." As he spoke, he made sure to keep eye contact with her despite his light unease at admitting something like this.
Hopefully it wouldn't change anything, but he was still going to try his hardest for this. One bad incident didn't mean the end, after all.

And depending on if Luke told her or not she already knew.Satsuki stares silently at the man sitting across from her. She's normally finicky; she tends to choose people of her own accord. On the other hand she finds proactivity such a valuable trait here- not to mention his not being human may very well end up being a valuable resource for her."Many of us have made errors upon our arrival here, some worse than others. Myself included. What is important is that we learn from them, then take measures to prevent similar circumstances in the future- I would be quite interested in having another race here in my ranks as the abilities this world's officers are varied but limited in comparison to the stronger denizens of this world. If you could go into brief detail about your kind, your abilities, and suggestions on how we could avoid another 'episode' then I believe we can discuss terms of employment."

When what he'd initially expected didn't come to pass but instead the opposite, his demeanor brightened considerably and he nodded in assent. Explaining things in a brief but informative manner wouldn't be so hard, but rather the subject matter itself. Letting out a breath he hadn't been aware of subconsciously holding, he gathered up the information in his mind before closing his eyes as part of this could be safely done with a small demonstration but it's not as if he wouldn't warn her first before that; he's not cruel or reckless enough to do something like that, really.
"...Ah... well, what I am is technically referred to as a ghoul. A being who needs to eat human flesh to survive." Haise faltered a little at his own description but knew it was necessary. "They only need to eat about once a month, and they fight with something called a Kagune. Each one bears a different shape, but mine is... it's better if I showed you." A beat followed his word and habitually, with one hand he used the middle finger on his left hand to push down and crack the knuckle on his index finger's joint, though as soon as he did that was when his kagune formed, about four scaled tentacle-like things that seemed to almost pulse with a life of their own, along with his left eye changing into one that was completely black with a red pupil.
"They are versatile, can cut through steel, support weight and are essentially a ghoul's way to fight, though it is not my only weapon as I bear a secondary one which was given to me by my mentor. A former kagune fashioned into a sword called the Yukimura and i'm considerably skilled with it as well. As for making sure to avoid another episode, ah... if there was any way to get 'food' without harming others, i'll do whatever it takes. I'm not willing to kill anyone to get it, but I will do anything else so I can avoid that accident and hurt any more people." After that explanation, he let his kagune linger before they began to fade away, as if they hadn't been there; an exercise on his control of his abilities in itself.
Haise just hoped it was good enough.

The reality, of course, is she's impressed with what she sees. A bit shaken, but impressed. Satsuki would like to find him to be trustworthy and she thinks she has enough of a grasp on his general personality to place him through a couple of tests to prove himself. She thinks about his hunger and how it fits in with Genessia's 'citizen' population. She considers how his being a ghoul could blow up in her face. "That hunger will be a questionalbe situation but not uncermountable. One of my associates from the Supernatural Investigation team possesses a similar diet, but I suggest for the time being we keep this to ourselves." she finally replies. "I currently have a Deputy Guardian at my side. However after your demonstration I would like to grant you the chance to be a second; there is enough work for the both of you. So here is what I propose:"
"I would like you to shadow me for the next two weeks. Two weeks afterward I would like you to work on some cases on your own. Should you get through this month without incident, I shall grant you a permenant position. Finally, I would like to ask if there are any other Ghouls present in Genessia that you know of."

Nothing really heralded Grimmjow’s appearance. He just suddenly appeared as if out of thin air standing in the middle of the office, hands tucked away in his pockets and sword at his side. Certainly a man with a sword and a hole in his abdomen appearing out of nowhere might startle some. It could probably even illicit more extreme actions in others. But Grimmjow wasn’t paying attention to what actions people were taking. He was just scanning the room for the woman he came to meet.
no subject
He appears right in the path of semi-chaos. Today's tests are quite a big deal because the Nova City-born are extremely excited about the possibility of having something that may actually hold up against the occurrences that, quite frankly, they're outclassed in.
The first thing that happens is a man ends up literally running right into him in a rush to get whatever- If the espada didn't move out of the way, then the officer is knocked flat on his ass. Another nearby officer was in the middle of sipping their coffee which they suddenly spit out to the side.
And of course before Grimmjow knows it, several others are steadily reaching for their firearms, but they don't withdraw just yet, instead one of them stating, "Hey stop right there!" beat, "Uh, are you all right sir! .. Do you need a doctor!"
no subject
"I'm here because the Guardian invited me. Tell me where she is." It was more of a command than a request. This was something he would only need to worry about once. He was going to remember her particular energy signature after this meeting. Once he did that, finding and appearing right in front of her would be a simple task.
no subject
'Yeah, I guess this one's Grimmjaw.' they say, mistaking the 'o' for an 'a'.
However at that very moment off to the left the Nova Guardian ascends from the floor in a display of distorted.. Light? Well it wasn't magic, that's for sure. ".. Of course it was you." she says to the hollow with her usual flat expression as she steps off of a blinking platform to approach her requested company. "I'm glad you could make it, Grimmjow. Let us not beat around the bush and head to the combat area, shall we? That is, unless you have come here merely to back down."
no subject
“I would be a shitty Hollow if I let some vehicle make me back down.” He was completely sure that even his subordinates would have been able to handle the thing if they had ever arrived here in this place. He tucked his hands away into his pockets.
“So. Show me where this thing is.”
no subject
And it's back upon the circular lift- Once the hollow joins him the duo descend several floors, first through darkness, then to a wide room that is well-lit by overhead lights. At the moment it is a barren area roughly the size of a couple of football fields and upward to the left a part of the room juts outward that is likely the control room. "This is the testing grounds for our equipment," she explains, "In about five minutes or so the surroundings of this room are going to chang and, as I have already mentioned, your opponent will be our patrol tanks."
Satsuki orders the control room to pull up a holographic image of said tank-like vehicle that's a deep violet in color, and a very similar, if not clunkier in appearance. "It is being piloted from above so there is no need for you to hold back. It's objective is to defeat and your own is to annhihilate it. I have asked for you help because I presume you should hold up quite well against live weaponry." beat. "Do I assume correctly?"
no subject
"Live weaponry is fine." He said, no really afraid of what sort of damage the tank might be able to inflict. His Hierro was strong, all Espada level Hollow's were. Though he was fast enough that he didn't think it would be able to hit him unless he wanted it to.
"This things look kind of weird though. Like it's some sort of bug." Though that didn't change what he was here to do to it. "I'm ready to start when you are."
Crap forgot to respond to this before I left. DX
She raises her hand to her ear. "Inumuta, our volunteer has arrived and is prepared for our sortie. Fire up the Environment Program then proceed whenever you are ready. There is no change in the mission briefing."
late puppy is late~
The patrol vehicles that Satsuki had brought to his attention a scant few days before were an industrious proposition that required the use of resources on multiple fronts. Besides the basic engineering to build it to its skeleton and composite materials to protect the delicate gears and pistons, it needed a slew of programmers to develop it's AI sufficiently enough to identify a valid threat and determine the proper course of action.
If a slew of programmers wasn't available....well, a few very talented ones would suffice.
Inumuta was elbow-deep in code when he received his summons, and being drawn away from his work even for the ever-turning mind of Satsuki Kiryuin, was never something that he relished. There was still much for him to learn about this city, many resources for him to amass, and side projects to begin on top of all of that...
An agitated huff. It had taken him some time to reach the offices in Nova City from the rebuilt Honnouji in Genessia, but he had arrived no worse for wear. Instead, it was the sheer volume of people in the building that had drawn his distaste-- he didn't mind people, to an extent, but they did make it hard to work if they were left in an uncoordinated mass.
Now, how to find Satsuki-sama herself in all of this...?
Good boy~
"Inumuta; this way." she says as she approaches then brushes passed him while she gestures to follow. Unlike the officers adorn in blacks and violets, she's still adorn in primarily white. There is a Guardian Uniform for her, but for whatever reason it isn't on her right now. "I would like you to take a look at what we have and the current plan today- I have put in a request for a denizen by the name of Grimmjow to engage in battle with our mobile unit today."
As she explains this she comes to a stop at one of the lifts, only distinguishable by a large, slender plate on the ground with a control stand embedded upon it. Once the to step inside, she waves her hand a mugshot hologram appears in front of them as they travel downward into brief blackness.
"Grimmjow is an 'Arrancar'; a race of creatures born from the human soul. It would appear that normal hallows have their faces completely covered by the mask you see upon his face. In short, he possesses quite formidable power. How our technology will hold up against it remains to be seen but I do not have high hopes- Still this would be a good opportunity to gauge his strength and what civilians can hope to hold up against. Our parts are purchased from Lex Luthor of LexCorp- his technology is technically modern, but it holds up alarmingly well for use in this city. Luthor is an ally that I have contracted several pieces of technology from in the past- But perhaps you may find something in his quality that I may have missed."
She pauses a moment in case he has any questions.
I'm just going to assume puppy knows everything that Satsuki is talking about-- yay info mining~
Mugshots were often a quiet telling piece of data to have on hand, and the aphorism that a picture could be described in a thousand words was not an understatement. The cocky grin that twisted the man's lips in the hologram was telling enough. That, along with the synopsis that Satsuki had shared with him, painted a picture of an immensely powerful and immensely impulsive individual in Inumuta's mind. Such brutes weren't his style-- but, they were definitely useful in the testing phases of any kind of technology.
"Satsuki-sama. Am I to assume that I am going to be running analysis during this process? I do have a request if that is the case; would you allow me to man the controls on the unit?"
It was a simple request, one that would allow him to analyze the data on both the offensive and defensive front so he could understand better how to weave the coding that would eventually serve as the basis for the AI that would eventually be installed. Furthermore...he just wanted to have some fun.
Never. Fired.
The lift stops and releases the duo to a control room that is stationed over an incredibly large and empty space- Roughly the size of several three story warehouses. "This is the training area for the vehicles before we let them loose above ground. It looks bare now, but it makes use of holographic and hard-light technology to create almost any terrain and simulation you can imagine. We'll be focusing on the Nova City's general setting of highways and the like."
The room itself is somewhat small, it could easily hold seven or eight people. There are data pads, blinking lights, and screens all over the place, but it's quite obvious where the pilot-simulating is to be done since at the very center of this room a pilot-seat with that hovers over a dull, blue light encircled by white light in an orb shape is stationed- It's almost like something you'd see in an arcade but obviously far more advanced.
"I'll explain the weapons loadout once you've gotten yourself settled in."
XD
"I understand," he replied, following her a step behind her brisk pace as she led him into the demonstration room. The technical specifications that she quickly expained were immediately filed away for lter use. A holographic simulation chamber would be more than useful in this instance, and he was already hatching ideas for how it could be used in the future.
The workstation, too, wasn't dissimilar from what he had previously worked with at Honnouji Academy. His lips curled themselves into an eager smirk once he laid eyes on the set up, and he quickly settled himself in.
"Roger. Everything checks out so far, Satsuki-sama. What kind of weapons are we dealing with for this test?"
no subject
The vehicle is capable of wheeled, walking and gliding (silent) travel, and capable of traversing vertical pathing and can cloak itself for short periods of time while mobile and considerably longer when stationary. The trick is to use everything without completely draining or overheating the power cell.
"Needless to say, some of these will not be very effective against your target- You will generally need to be difficult and stay 'alive' as long as possible. Feel free to be as destructive as you can manage. And of course any feedback after the testing is more than welcome. Anything else?"
no subject
"I think I have a general idea of things," he replied, an oddly eager smile curling his lips and glinting in his eyes. "A survival game sounds like an excellent way to test the technology."
no subject
She grants him a disc that allows him to access the main computers from his laptop so he can tailor the area as he sees fit.
Needless to say she's pleased that he's still up for the challenge and will be looking forward to what he'll pull off. Once she backs off the orb about the pilot seat will shift from clear to black so that the surrounding projection screen will be easier to see.
Roughly an hour later Satsuki's company arrives; Inumuta should be able to see both Grimmjow and Satsuki appear in the lower level of the training area.
(OOC: And by 'moment' I apparently mean forever.)
