King's History: The First Chapter

It was a blonde man who was sitting at the edge of the pod, legs held up so that his feet were out of the water, as he stared at the red bills in his hand and the pamphlet in the other. A few moments of reading would lead to the blonde throwing the pamphlet behind him where immediately it disappeared into a glowing ripple in space behind his shoulder, his now free hand already reaching for the video device and turning it on.

"Greetings mongrels. To the one who has decided to kidnap me, I have to applaud your audacity and nerve. Although I must shake my head at you as well. After all you must have a death wish to kidnap a King." He is loud, boisterous, and quite boastful as he hops up to stand on the edge of the pod overlooking the Bay. Video still on, Gilgamesh shows his agility by jumping from one robot buoy to the next, making his way over to solid ground to walk down the streets of the highly technological city he found himself in.

"To you other mongrels who haven't kidnapped me, I bid you all greetings if you're worth the effort." A shrug. A quite condescending shrug. "I don't know what mongrels act like so I don't know if any of you are worth the effort."

Hmmm... The jumping is rather good, but still. So much arrogance from one who isn't just flying out... Flying might still be a hidden possibility but Bridget is putting it at a lower than 100% probability. And from the arrogance and indiscriminate use of the term 'mongrel', probably the leader of an older civilization obsessed with ancestors and bloodlines. Maybe he was one of those who memorized hours of X beget Y beget Z charts. On her earth that tended to narrow it down to certain global regions. And from his features, he wasn't too far east or southeast.

There might be a deliberate little sound of a teacup placed back on the saucer before she actually speaks up. "At least you don't demand pudding cups in tribute, unlike that demon king. You are hardly the first to threaten the power able to bring us here and you certainly won't be the last. I do have the urge to ask you why you use the word mongrel without knowing what a mongrel is or how a mongrel should act."

Gilgamesh keeps his video on as he speaks. After all, why should he hide himself? "Pudding cups? ...What is pudding and why would you put it in a cup?" Just because he's lived a few years in modern worlds doesn't mean he's seen everything there is to see.

"I know what a mongrel is. I just don't see a need to try to understand them because a mongrel can't compare to a king." Not completely untrue, but if anyone knew the events of where he was before he got here, well...there could be a few people who were close enough. "And I do not threaten power. I simply am power." Modest isn't he? Especially with that smug grin on his face. "I call mongrels mongrels, because I am a chosen of the gods to rule."

"That just brings the question... what makes a king? The gods can choose anyone to be anything, but what makes a king? As for pudding... it's a very poor substitute for mousse or custard. Evidently in the world that one came from it was a form of currency."

The feed will turn on and be directly aimed at a bit of paper, which a pair of hands is drawing a pudding cup with smooth motions just a bit too quick to be human. "Ironically, the price of pudding went up shortly after his arrival due to sudden rise in demand. He was fun to tease."

It was a good question. What makes a king a king? After all, there had to be something or else everyone could just declare themselves king. "A king...A king has a responsibility. A King is someone who has the responsibility to rule over those who cannot rule themselves and must bear the burden of passing down judgement over the wrongs of the world. They are a guiding force who must lead their people forward and pave a way for them to grow."

Gil stares at the cup of pudding as he tilts his head. "A poor substitute for mousse or custard? Then why would anyone settle for an inferior product?" He's now sitting on top of one of the street lights as he looks around the place. "Sounds a bit like he's just a glutton for pudding if he caused that to occur."

Oh thank the moon, a real king. One who held himself responsible for those under him rather than feeling it was a right to subjugate others for pleasure. The camera swung around as she lifted a cup of tea for a sip, obviously not holding the device physically. It was unspoken that this one had passed some hidden test. Bridget made no attempts to mask her cat-slit eyes or elongated canines, and her black tunic made her pale skin even more-so. "I offered to make him something worth eating but he claimed that in his world pudding was worth going to war over. I suppose it has to be a dimension thing."

There's a thoughtful pause as she examines him openly. He appears fairly human but that didn't mean much. Not with him showing off like that. "Bridget the Frostheart, taken from on of evidently many versions of earth."

Gilgamesh had no expression as he beheld the person whom he was talking to, merely staring at the screen and taking in the features of the woman. "Hmm...perhaps it is. Or perhaps he is merely a gluttonous fool that cares only for his own pleasure. Either way, I have no interest in meeting one like him."

Gilgamesh looked fairly human, but also had a hint of something else in him. Something about his features seemed a bit too...divine to be purely human. "A pleasure to meet you, Bridget the Frostheart. My name is Gilgamesh."

And who said you were worth the effort to even bother assisting when you address us like this?

[She get's that being new in a world like this does make people mad/sad/confused, but there's something about his arrogance that annoys her; King or not.]

"I'm worth the effort because I am the king!"

Say what you want about his arrogance, he at least is consistent about it.

"If you don't like how I go about things. Why not try to do something about it instead of just moan over it?"

Titles mean nothing here. Welcome to the real world. It's about time you had to face what everyone else here has had to as well.

Either way, I can simply just ignore you. I'm not really all that worried. Just know your methods won't bring you much help.

Gilgamesh is laughing at the statement of real worldness. "Real world?! What is the real world? Is it only what you can perceive or feel? Just because this world is different than yours does not mean that one is or is not real or imagined in title or being."

His laugh is cut off abruptly as he looks quite stonily into the camera. "Ignore me if you like. It does not change who I am nor does it affect me at all. It merely shows your ignorance to ignore people based on preconceived notions that all people must be alike."

The real world is cruel and unforgiving. Death is just another cycle that continues regardless of actions, but that may just be because I come from a world that has no hope in surviving.

[He honest thoughts, though not exactly well looked upon those from her world. She's just the pessimist of her world when it comes to the fate of it in the end.]

Not at all. It just tells me that I have no interest in dealing with you if you're so shrewd in your evaluation of all of us as a whole with very little respect. I can simply ignore you just fine and that's no skin off my back, but you should change your negative attitude when addressing others.

That being said, what you do is up to you and nothing I say will make a difference in that aspect. Do as you wish, so as long as it doesn't involve hurting anyone in the process.

[Feel free to turn the feed off whenever you'd like, Gilgamesh. Because at this point, unless he has something he wants to talk about, she doesn't care.]

Oh-hoh? So you to accept that death is a possibility to all living things. Although there are a few things that can...prolong the experience.

[Here a ripple of light forms over his hand and a small vial drops out into his open palm.]

After all, the elixir of life is always sought isn't it?

[He grins and shakes his hand with the vial a bit, before tossing it up into the air where it disappears into a scattering of particles of light.]

All I'm hearing is the barking of a mongrel who can't help but cry out when she can't do anything and tries to act like it doesn't matter when it apparently does. And who says I wouldn't hurt anyone? If people are to die, then they are to die.

It's not so much the case here, but death was all around me back home. Everyday there was death.

[She got what he was saying about the elixir of life somehow, but honestly, she didn't show any enthusiasm as most people would. She didn't show interest of trying to live for a lot period of time nor did it faze her.]

Clearly you need better socializing skills than I do, and that's pretty bad. I don't care what you think nor do I care to continue this. Unless you have anything that's actually important to say, I could care less.

I hardly think you're in any position to demand things from whomever has brought us here.

[Meet an ice queen.]

You're not the only royal member who has been kidnapped and taken here, so maybe if you tried to be a bit nicer with the way you phrase things, you'd get better results.

[Then again, she wasn't the most friendly person when she got here either...]

Gilgamesh merely shrugs as he sits on the top of a street light, one leg pulled to his chest, the other dangling off the edge. "Perhaps not, but there is only one man who I would consider my friend. And I highly doubt he is here at all." He looks a bit somber at that statement, but it's gone so fast, it was hard to tell. "In any case, I suppose sometimes being amicable might help, but first I'd need to figure out where I am. This city is a lot more technologically advanced than where I was last summoned to."

Of course. I've heard the location of the Bay changed randomly. I believe it's now in Nova City, but right now you're in a world called Genessia.

Hm...Genessia....Not a place I've ever heard of. Nor this Nova City, though I must say it is quite the unique place. A bit too noisy for my liking though. Mongrels seem to be only good at making noise and killing these days.

It's likely that you wouldn't. I'm currently living in Fayren, so it's not as technological as Nova City is.

I see. So there's other worlds to visit in this place. Fayren sounds like a quieter place to live. Perhaps you would do the honors of giving me a tour of that city?

Sure, I wouldn't mind. Would you like me to come and get you at The Bay?

That would certainly do well. Judging by this city I'd rather not get lost within it's overly advanced technology. Mongrels still make too much noise for me to want to spend more time here than necessary.

Alright. I'll make my way there then.

[So after a short while to arrive, she finally came into view.]

Gilgamesh is still sitting on top of the light pole, letting his free leg dangle as he watches the cars and other vehicles run by. He looks more at ease now that it's been a while in that strange city as he watches the blonde come closer to him. Hoping down, he straightens himself up to full height to take full stock of the woman before him. "So. Shall we?"

[She nodded as she watched him hop down.]

Was there anywhere you wanted to see first?

He shrugs his shoulders as he looks around the futuristic city. "A good look at the governing body of the area would be good. If I am to commit myself to any locale, I want to know if the ones who lead are competent enough to warrant my approval."

[ She has half a mind to pull rank herself, but at the same time-- ]

I am sure that kind of personality gets you a bunch of friends all the time, sir.

There has only ever been one person worthy of being my friend. No one else I have met has been worthy of that title. Being a companion of mine is certainly not a bad thing though.

Is it not lonely for you to not have more friends?

I am not one meant for friends. I have ever and anon been a leader and observer of humans. The arbiter and judge. The collector of all things.

[A sort of half-shrug is given.]

It's not the most social of existences, but that's why I'm no longer ruling at the moment, so I can step in and see how the mongrel's fare.

Apologies to you, but there is only one being whom I will ever consider a friend. That is not anyone whom I have seen so far.

However, this does not mean that we cannot be companions.

[ A pause and she realizes that she never gave him her name. Oops -- ]

My apologies. My name is Sertoria Cani -- it is a pleasure to meet you.

Then companion you are to the great Gilgamesh!

[When the video feed opens, Eas doesn't look incredibly impressed.]

Know this your highness,>/i> I am Eas, Denizen of Labyrinth and faithful servant to Lord Moebius. I do not take kindly to being a called a mongrel by those that do not yet know their place.

At least one of you knows to refer to me properly. However, your complaints are a trifle at best. You don't want to be called a mongrel, then do not bark like a mongrel.

[He looks a bit calmer from his previous, cold look at the mention of another lord.]
Hmm another Lord you say? Perhaps he too is here? To sit with another who understands the hardships of a king would be a nice respite from this unknown world.

[Her eyes narrow at the comment but she says nothing. He does kind of have her there.]

Yes, Lord Moebius of Labyrinth, soon to be the ruler of all worlds.

He is not here at the moment, though I imagine it is only a matter of time before he does make an appearance.

Ruler of all worlds you say? Sounds rather arrogant for a supposed lord to claim. Has he merely grown tired of his own world to rule? Or has he merely grown greedy and is trying to gain that which he cannot have?

His world has functioned exceptionally under his rule for decades, he is looking to expand his domain so that others may prosper as we have.

All in Labyrinth live to serve him faithfully, soon all others will too.

Hmm...is that so? Perhaps it would be of interest to meet this...Lord Mobius if he ever comes to this world. Mayhaps his philosophies won't be as flawed as others I have seen.

So long as everything goes according to his plan, his grasp will eventually reach this place. I'm certain it'll only be a matter of time before he appears.

Such conviction you have over your master! Make sure you keep in mind that your servitude is the utmost important thing you can do for him. It's certainly what I'd expect from my servants.

Though do keep in mind that if he believes I'd bow down to him, he'd be the one on his knees.

I'm fully aware of that, everything I do is to further his ambitions. I am but faithful servant to him.

[She gives him a slight smirk.]

You can believe that for now. Once he arrives here we'll see if that remains true.

Hmm...Such devotion. Yet such ignorance if you think a mere Lord can simply make me bow. Perhaps...I should ensure that he doesn't lay claim to this world if his hubris is so high that he would seek to put himself over me.

[Which would of course put him at odds with the girl he's currently talking to, but that's the hazard one takes with following a ruler who tries to control everything.]

Hmph, you are welcome to try if that's what you desire.

I however, cannot let anyone stop me from completing the mission he has assigned me. I wont hold back if you should try to stop me, you have been warned.

[And... she's kind of the only one here working toward his goals of multiverse domination.

So yeah.]

How cute. You think yourself strong enough to stop me. I've yet to be impressed.

[Then again considering how he's addressed people, he doesn't seem to be easily impressed by anyone.]

Perhaps I should test your resolve. If you can resist dying, I might just let you taste the strength of Ea.

As I said, I wont allow anyone to get in the way of my mission. It doesn't matter how strong they may or may not be.

I've better things to do than to run through your little test.
