[It's almost the end of Yosuke's night shift. He looks pretty tired, but kind of satisfied.]

I think I found a good job for myself. Being a receptionist... it feels like a rather important job. So even if some of my work hours are very messed up and some shifts are pretty boring, I like doing it.

[Not that his work has been all that easy, which is why he looks a bit more serious next.]

Though it is pretty hard to sometimes see the state people come in to the hospital, but... you get pretty used to it? I thought I wouldn't, but I'm still here-

[Yosuke's sentence is interrupted by him looking at the other way. There's a female voice saying hello to him and walking past him, which makes him look quite a bit happier again.

Ah, wait, what was he saying?]

Anyway, I guess my point is. If you feel like a job isn't for you at first, just try it a little bit longer and you might notice that it actually is. There's nothing to be embarrassed about if you need to quit even after trying a bit longer. I hope you'll get a good job, like me.

[ If Yosuke's been down in the morgue area of the hospital, he might notice the background looks really familiar. Liv hasn't been too busy (which she guesses is good for everyone but her). ]

People undervalue receptionists. You might not need to go through years of studying to do it, but without receptionists the second someone filed a lawsuit, the whole hospital would likely be lost by people who didn't file things correctly.

[ Having once been a bright and happy medical resident with every intention of being a prolific medical doctor, she knows exactly how important that paperwork is and how she typically has no idea what happened after she turned it in, only that it needed to be turned in. ]

I think it helps if one says that even those types of jobs are important. Everyone wants the best jobs, but even the jobs like you have are important.

[She gives a small smile and a wave.]

Oh really. If you enjoy being a receptionist then can you spare maybe one day to help out at my inn? I need someone to check people in on one day.

[He was given a basic tour of the hospital, just in case he needed to guide someone somewhere. Though he has no idea why he'd have to show anyone to the morgue. But yes, it looks familiar to him.]

Yeah, I feel like it's an important job because of that. It's not like I've had to do anything like that yet, and hopefully there won't be any lawsuits anyway, but at least I'd be prepared for that.

Well, my previous job was sort of a manager at a mall, which was pretty good in job standings... but I think I like this one better anyway. There's no Golden Week here.

[A sheepish smile at that.]

I'm Yosuke. It's nice to meet you too.

[Oh snap. Was Yukiko onto him? Why else would she suggest something like that?

Well, there was only one way out of this situation.]

Ah--I think I've passed by you a few times in the mornings. I don't like hospitals much myself but I get lab samples from patients...I can't make them better, but they smile sometimes and that's enough!

The receptionists always help me find rooms or know where patients are if they're off the unit. I'd never get all my labs done if it weren't for that help, so the job is important! Right?

[You can almost hear the big grin on her face as she talks, can't you?]

This place is so far removed from what's normal, I'm not even sure there are any lawyers here.

[ So she isn't sure that suing would be an issue either. ] It's still important for other reasons, though, so thanks.

That is pretty good...And how old are you? Because you look pretty young to be a manager.

But apart from that, we've both been pretty busy lately right?

Lately all I've had are night shifts, so you could have seen me as I've been leaving... or when I had normal hours. ["Normal" as in he didn't need to stay up all night and sleep during the days. He's not a vampire, for Susano-o's sake.] But it's important to make the patient's smile. I've seen quite a few leaving with bright looks on their faces and that feels nice.

That's right. Well, not that I want to sound cocky, but I do think that some things wouldn't run as smoothly if receptionists weren't here.

At least I haven't heard of there being any offices for lawyers or anything... even less about courts or judges. I guess that's what City Guardians are for?

[That would make sense, somehow.]

Oh, I'm seventeen. The reason I was a manager is because my father owns the place. I helped out with various things.

Ahh, yeah. Well, I think I'm pretty good with that kind of stuff. Not that I have experience, but I've seen a few worse things while working here already.

There was nobody at the desk on the third floor yesterday, and I waited for ages to figure out where a patient had gone. And then my boss was furious. "Yuu! What were you doing on the third floor for so long?! You should've been done already!"

[Why are you laughing? You got in trouble.]

I'm sure I've passed you though... [There is a pause, a quiet hmmm-ing as she thinks.]

Hananura-san. Right? You're on the fifth floor. I though you worked days, though. Your unit is my last stop.
