Who: Armin and Mikasa
What: two old friends worrying about each other
Where: between the Schnee Company and Attack on Mansion
When: around midnight on the 13th

Armin has been working a lot of extended hours and late nights since the opening of the new branch - some of them official, but other times not even letting Weiss know. Of course, he doesn't work by the hour - he just does what needs to get done. A lot goes into running a business, and Armin takes care of much of the stuff happening behind the scenes - the things nobody ever thinks about, or takes credit for. He takes care of all the little details so Weiss can focus on the bigger picture. He doesn't mind - but it's lead to him being tired a lot lately. It's the reason midnight finds him buried in paperwork in his office - ink smudges on his nose, looking exhausted but seemingly not even aware of the time.

[It had been a long day, but working this much didn't bother her. She might have become a bit of a workaholic ever since coming here, but what was out of necessity when arriving became a habit. It was easier for her to just keep busy with work than it was to try to sit and figure out what to do otherwise; besides, she was getting paid in the process, so that was good too.

But to go help out David with his guardian duties in the morning and then head off to work at the Schnee Company right after kept her pretty busy. On top of that, going home after work to work on the mansion every now and then -- mostly little projects since bigger ones were left for days where she had more time -- just sort of pushed it over the time.

So noticing that Armin hadn't gone home yet, Mikasa began to worry a little. She knew that Armin had been working a lot lately and while she couldn't really say anything, she was able to handle the extra work load; Armin wasn't... Or rather he could and she just didn't think he should. So sure enough, she found him with paperwork all around him.]

Hey, Armin. The rest of that stuff can wait. It's already almost midnight.

[Armin blinks up at her when she speaks, looking startled at seeing her - before glancing around and noticing the other signs of the time.] Mikasa? What are you...

Is it really that late already? [He sits back in his chair, stretching his obviously cramping back.] I didn't even realize. [And yes, he has been here since this morning.]

[Nodding in response as she pointed to the clock.]

Let's go home, okay? The rest of this can wait.

[Armin looks like he might protest for a moment, but he's interrupted by a tired yawn, and at that point smartly recognizes his position better than to try arguing. He gives her a small, self-depreciating smile.]

I guess you're right. It won't be a disaster if I finish this tomorrow. [He starts organizing and putting away the papers.] How's your new deputy position going?

[She would offer to help him, but maybe she should let him handle it.]

It's going good. I'm glad to help out in any way I can. He's done a lot for me while I've been here too. [Like retrieving one of the most important person's bodies for her, but we're not going to mention that out loud.]

[Armin still doesn't know about that - he hasn't asked much about the time he'd been dead. After a minute, he picks up a small blue folder and it looks like he's ready to go.]

That's good. I'm glad you've been able to make friends while you're here. [To be honest, Armin... hasn't, much, outside of people from home or from work. And he knows some of the people living in the Mansion are having the same problem.]

Yeah. It's... been quite an adjustment, but he's one of the few people that I trust here besides those from our world.

[And since he's ready, she's already headed to the door and opened it for them.]
