Ending up in this city probably isn't even the weirdest thing that's happened to her (although it's definitely in the top five).] Hello, everyone. Carol Danvers here. Alias Ms Marvel. I'm an Avenger and a S.W.O.R.D. agent, if that means anything to anyone here.

I've got the gist of what's going on around here, I think, but I'd appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction for, let's call it 'large scale security work.' ['Superheroing' as a verb feels a little too informal for this situation, and she's not sure how many people would understand her meaning anyway. She can only hope the euphemism helps.] Or any kind of stopping bad guys, really.

These info flyers seem to want us to find employment, and defending the innocent is pretty much my main area of expertise.

Mercenary or guardian? If you're lawful, try one of the city Guardians for a deputy slot. If you're flexible, there are a few names to be had for the right price.

I'm not that flexible. [She sounds a little dour.] I can probably let mercs slide if they're honest, but I'm not looking to be one.

Oh, good. [From another, smaller yawn, she's half asleep rather than bored or theatrical.] We need more of those. One of the city guardians was organizing something so he'l probably get in touch soon...

Ah, I beg pardon for asking, but what is S.W.O.R.D. and an Avenger? It sounds as though these things have a bit more meaning than their commonly accepted definitions.

The Avengers are a semi-official, New York based, uh, metahuman team from back home. S.W.O.R.D. is the agency tasked with protecting Earth from aliens. They're pretty busy these days.

New York... so in you're from Earth as well? Or some version of it if New York is still... well. New York.

Your organizations don't sound terribly different from Libra, however. May I ask about the nature of the aliens you team combats?

It's been the Kree and the Skrulls, mainly. Two warring factions, both of which oughta be off our back for a while.

Ah, then it's likely your Earth is one parallel to the one I'm from.

No+ idea. I just go+t here myself. Weiss seems sincere, if curt.

I believe there are a few things that might suit your field of expertise. You can always ask the guardians for a deputy position if they haven't filled them already.

If that doesn't work, there is someone putting something together.

Are they trustworthy, the guardians? [Maybe she oughta try asking someone other than complete strangers questions like that, but that would involve knowing anyone.]

I like to believe so since there job is to protect those of the city they guard over.

I am. And S.W.O.R.D. I spent some time at the base. Abigail brought me there to give me what amounted to a stern talking to and a pep talk.

I know who you are too. Though last I heard, you changed from Ms Marvel to Captain Marvel.

About what, exactly?

And I definitely didn't do that.

I had a lot of arrogance, and it needed to be pointed out to me. I needed to be humbled so I could get my head on straight and do what I needed to do.

Abigail's not too bad at that, when she needs to be.

S.W.O.R.D., huh? Anything like my world's Time-Space Administration Bureau, serving as a military organization across the Dimensional Sea?

[Carol smiles weakly at that.] S.W.O.R.D. actually just deals with your garden variety extraterrestrial incursions. I think I met the guys you're talking about once, but it was as an Avenger. And they weren't real friendly.

... Possibly? I mean, having to face the power of Nanoha Takamachi head-on is really scary, but they're good people in the end, nonlethal combat and all.

Yeah, they weren't too bad, I guess. Just rude.

Hrm. Makes me wonder if it's the same world or not. I don't know much about the Unadministered Worlds, honestly, so it's possible, but...

Isn't the Avengers that thing David was going to base his team on?

I suppose it might be. We're pretty well-known back home.

How do they pick who gets into the Avengers and what does it mean that you're this Ms. Marvel person?

Ms. Marvel's a code name. I picked it when I got the powers.

As for membership, it was sort of Stark's call who got asked. The rest of us kind of got to vote, too, but uh, honestly, the Avengers have had more trouble with keeping recruits than finding them.

And I thought those were passe and cheesy.

[ Says the girl whose boss gets put in a slew of chess puns and works with a masked organization. She can't help it. The less she's around her sarcastic partner the more the snide comments come out of her mouth. ]

Why do they have trouble keeping recruits?

[Ooooooooo, a lady with an alias! It was about time something like that came along! She looked so nice, but then she started talking about agencies and security work... Time to pokepoke the odd DenDen until he connected. As soon as that happens, he's going to dart away and 'hide' behind a tree.]

Are you with the navy then? Like CP9 or the G9?

I was never Navy, no. Used to be Air Force. I don't know those designations, though.

[This one will be a little less tense and a bit more peeking in the whole reverse-hiding thing.]

I don't think the World Government has anything permanent for the air yet, so you're ok! [:D] I'm a straw hat pirate, so it's better to be cautious even if it is a different world.

A straw hat pirate? [She frowns and shifts her jaw.] Is that what you wear or what you steal?

Oh! No, pirate crews tend to have a name for their crew. Sometimes it's just the captain's name or some famous characteristic. We're the Straw Hat Pirates because of Luffy's straw hat, not because we steal straw hats.
