010: Just too pretty [Accidental Video]
[Accidental Video]
[Zelos' Oshawott had the rather unfortunate tendency to go and charge anything that was larger than her, and investigate anything that seemed strange or interesting with no sense of danger at all. Rather like a reckless child.
Today, she had chosen to examine the strange talky-box her trainer kept using. After all, she'd heard voices through it, but couldn't see where all the people were!
And thus, the feed would begin with a shot of an orange nose, before it slipped out of her little hands and showed the little Oshawott staring at the camera.]
Osha...
[There was a few minutes of her tilting her head in various directions, picking up the device again and staring at it from all angles. Such a strange thing...
Before she could continue, though, Zelos came wandering back into the room, a small towel wrapped around his waist and another around his shoulders--and nothing else. Well, except for the strange red jewel embedded in his chest, which was still ever present. He didn't realise the videophone was on at first as he started to dry himself off from his shower, giving the camera a rather nice view of his naked behind.
Soon enough, though, he caught sight of little light on his device out the corner of his eye and went rather pale. To her credit, his Oshawott just gave Zelos her best 'What?' expression, oblivious to any embarrassment she was causing him.]

Wait, is that thing... Seles! That's not a toy, turn it off!!
[Flailing, he did his best to throw the towel back around his waist as he ungracefully scrambled over to his Pokémon to turn it off as quickly as possible.]

Video --> Video, Private 3/3!
Despite how he tried to act like this was totally no big deal, the blush rising into his cheeks at this point was rather letting down his pretence.]
Yeah. I think. [A pause.] I mean, maybe. I don't know.
Video, Private 3/3!
I know that I love Fai-san and Kurogane-san and Syaoran-kun!
[Which implies that she's talking about a completely different kind of love though Zelos's reaction hasn't gone unnoticed.]
You know, Fai-san is really hard to understand sometimes. He keeps things all locked away inside. [It's something him and Sakura have in common.] If you love him, you should tell him.
Fai-san needs someone to make him smile. [She smiles at that.] Fai-san once told me, the best thing I could do to help was to smile and ever since then I've tried my best but I want everyone to smile too.
Video, Private
...Damn, she wasn't talking about romantic-love at all, was she? Backpedal backpedal backpedal.]
Heh...eh. Yeah, we get on pretty well, you know? I mean, must've known him at least a year now.
[Nailed it? Oh, who was he kidding, that laugh was awkward as all hell and he knew it.
As for locking things away inside...that was something Zelos knew all too well, given he did it far too much himself. He knew bits and pieces of what Fai kept quiet, but that by no means made him easy to understand, even now.
But seriously, the idea of going and telling Fai something he'd only just started to notice was there, something like this? Nope. Nope nope nope.]
I-It's not a big deal. Seriously!
[He knew he was squirming, but there was absolutely no way he could see out of this mess that didn't lead to him digging an even deeper hole.]
Video, Private
But you just said something else.
[She blinks.]
You said you liked him. It sounds like something more.
[Loving someone as if they are family is something that you just know. If he had to think about it then it's a different sort of love. A sort of love that Sakura vaguely remembers but has never been able to grasp; as if it's been stolen from her memories.]
Video, Private
Somehow, by trying to deny it, he'd only convinced her even more that there was something going on.
This mess did, however get him to actually sit down and think about how he felt. That feeling of relief when he caught up to Fai after the spirit attack and flopping his arm around his shoulders to support himself, the utter panic when he thought he'd genuinely pissed him off, the joy and fear when Fai said he honestly trusted him afterwards, the day to day banter and teasing and flirting that actually seemed meaningful and natural, unlike with most of his hunnies-- all of it. It was different to how he felt about Ishtar, or Seles. But...did that mean he was actually in love with him? However quickly he answered Sakura's question, he genuinely couldn't be sure what his feelings were. Not to mention, he always kind of assumed if he were to fall for someone, it'd be a cute hunny, not another guy.
Nevertheless...however much he thought about it, the answer always seemed to fall more on the side of 'yes' than on the side of 'no'. Huh.]
Hm? What're you talking about?
[A pause, before Zelos gave a defeated sigh. Yes, because playing oblivious was really going to work in this case.]
Yeah I...really have no idea.
Video, Private
I think you do.
[He's probably scared, of course, Sakura doesn't see anything wrong with those of the same gender falling in love. All that matters is what the heart wants. She can't help but feel a little envious of that affection because she wants to believe that Fai feels the same way.]
I'll ask Fai-san for you!? [Because that's a good idea.]
Video, Private
Weird as it was to fall for another guy, what scared Zelos more was the fact he actually cared that much about someone. That he trusted someone like this. Someone who knew exactly what a worthless--
And that train of thought died the second her question came up.
Zelos spluttered, trying to mask the look of horror with a carefree laugh.]
No! No, it's fine, seriously! I can talk to him! Really, no need to worry your pretty face, I've got this. Seriously.
Video, Private
Zelos is the one that always seems to act different when it's just Fai and him versus when she's around. She has peeked a few times from her room and then stealth-fully stayed behind her door until they were done talking.]
Are you sure?
[She pauses, her expression forming into a pout.]
I know we haven't known each other long but you're my friend. I want my friends to be happy.
Video, Private
Yep, totally, absolutely sure. I'm pretty good at talking to people, you know? Okay usually better at talking to cute hunnies but still. I'm good. Really.
[Damn, he was nervous.]
...Thanks. Hey, not gonna complain about having more friends here.
Video, Private
[She glanced down at a spot on the floor before looking back up at Zelos. She was a bit naive at times but she could read people decently well. She is used to those sorts of lies and masks. She's traveled worlds with them after all.]
But I won't tell him anything. I still think you should.
Video, Private
...I'll get back to you on that.
[A hesitation, before: ]
Yeah, I'll...get around to it.
Video, Private
Please do... I don't know you very well but,
[She looks up at the screen with determination.]
I think it'd be for the best.
Video, Private
Why? Has he said anything about me?
[Just...trying to sound casual.]
Video, Private
I can tell he cares like he does for us but Fai-san... [A small hand moves over her heart as she spoke.]
He's so practiced at smiling. It doesn't feel real sometimes. I want him to smile and when it's about you I think he's really smiling.
[Even if Fai doesn't notice it.]
Video, Private
A bright, more genuine smile came into his face at the thought Fai's smiles around him were real. That probably said more than most of Zelos' words.]
Heh, I'm touched.
Video, Private
Both of them.]
I'm glad.
