03 - Always the Annoying Sister
Who: Dairine Callahan and Conan Edogawa
When: Backdated to August 31
What: Dairine has a surprise gift for Conan.
Where: The K&H Home for Children
Warnings: NA
[Dairine was enjoying her time as a Pokemon Trainer as much as she can. Outside her job, she spent almost all her hours with them. After all, she expected them to disappear any time, just like they had in Paradisa.
This resulted, slightly intentionally, in a bunch of Pokemon in Conan's space. His refusal to believe in anything outside his tiny worldview irritated Dairine greatly... but it also worried her. In a place like this, that denial could be dangerous someday. So she had set up situations where her more "irrational" Pokemon would "accidentally" cross his path: Bellsprout the walking plant, Torchic the fiery bird, and Voltorb the floating giant Pokeball. (She had considered whether or not to show him Aerodactyl but decided against it. For now.)
What she really wanted, though, was to introduce him to a ghost Pokemon, the type he would probably disbelieve the most. Surely that might help knock him out of his super rational mindset. Dairine spent a couple evenings searching around Everglade, looking for a not-so-dangerous haunt.
Finally she had found it. The perfect ghost type for the situation. The next day at breakfast, Dairine strolled over to where Conan was sitting. Her Eevee and Sylveon padded along behind her. Placing her breakfast and the local newpaper onto the table, Dairine grins at him.]
Good morning! How has Totodile been?

Good morning! How has Totodile been?

Fine.
[He'd only accidentally made it cry a few times. ]

That's good. Maybe I'll send over a friend for her to play with later.
[It's a hint at what's coming up. However, not entirely. Her Eevee was very sociable and liked to hang out with other Pokemon, so play time would be good for her.]
Which reminds me! I have something for you, Conan.
no subject
What.

[She smirks as she asks, reaching into her pocket. Dairine pauses for a moment to heighten the suspense and then pulls out... a Pokeball!]

[He might care once he sees the type of Pokemon, though not necessarily in a good way.]

[He didn't want anything to do with something she was this insistent about. ]

[Quick as a wink, she reaches out to shove the Pokeball into his hand (or as close as she can manage) and presses the white button. There is a blinding light that slowly forms itself into a more distinct shape until suddenly... the Pokemon appears! Floating next to him is what appears to be a dark sheet with eyes and a mouth. It almost looks like an oversized teruteru bōzu.]
Shuuuupet...
[Across the table, Dairine is resting her head on her folded arms, grin firmly planted on her face.]
Well, what do you think now?

What is this?

Can you guess what type of Pokemon he is?

It's a ghost!!
no subject
There's no such thing.

You're always so close-minded. Did you even bother to listen to Mewtwo's announcements?
no subject
[Not that he'd believed all of it. ]

[She rolls her eyes privately to herself, since after seeing some of the ghost Pokemon out there? She definitely disagrees.]
He's like you -- too wrapped up in his own logic.
