This was...

This was the worst pain he could ever imagine.

When Marco came to, he wasn't himself. This wasn't a dream anymore and this pain that he felt was fifty times worse than in the dream. He started to slum in his chair, slowly slipping onto the floor. His body was paralyzed from the pain but his mind was still going.

He knew what would happen if he went back. He had seen Jean but... Was it even worth it at this point?

He was dead, wasn't he? This was his fate. He should be dead but he's not and as he's slowly sinking onto the ground as he's bleeding out... This might've been the biggest mistake he could've made. Especially for someone given a second chance. All he can think about is was it all worth it? Was it worth trying to save his friends? Back home... Was it worth throwing his life away for everyone else in his squad?

He couldn't see except for blurred shapes and sounds were just echoes. He couldn't move. He couldn't even breathe. He couldn't cough as he started to feel his lungs fill with blood. There was so much pain he just...he wanted it to all be gone. This was...this was all such a huge mess.

video to friends/anyone/Weiss - genessia hospital

[ Marco came to and he heard the slow beeping of machines around him. he wasn't in as much pain as before but...he was still a little sore.

he opened his eyes to see a light overhead though he was sitting up on a cot. nothing around him was really that visible to him. but with how things were, he knew where he was at least.

this was Genessia. this wasn't home anymore.

without even trying to get in touch with who might be here or who might be taking care of him, he reached out with his left hand to get his video phone that laid on the table close to him. he wasn't going to text anyone, that might not have been the best thing to do at a time like this. especially when his vision was still blurry.

he held the camera close to his face. he sounded out of breath or like he was still asleep. he had obviously been sedated for a while and by the scarring on his face and the large piece of gauze across his right eye, something had happened to him. when he speaks, his speech is a little slurred and slow ]

Hey. Can someone...

Can... Can you come... Get me?

[ his visible eye closed and the phone fell onto the floor, showing that he was in the hospital. though it fell underneath the bed and wasn't turned off so it was still recording as someone came in a few minutes later to check on him ]

[ Sasha's fuckin ecstatic to see a video message from Marco-- she answers with a beam, pulling back her bowstring as she does so-- ] Hey, hey Marco, watch thi--- [ She'd responded without even seeing or really listening-- but now she can see him, and the bow clatters out of her hands onto the ground. She fumbles around- yanking the phone from where she had it propped against a tree, shoving it into her pocket ~~if he hadn't just dropped the phone he could enjoy the view of dat ass before it goes completely black inside the pocket~~ and taking off.

She doesn't have her 3DMG, and her lust for unicorn meat has stopped any of them from becoming valiant steeds, so it takes her a while to get there. When she does though, she's out of breath, looking like a hot mess, and a nurse is tugging at her arm trying to explain that she can't bring weapons in here ma'am. ]

[ ~~dat azzzzzz~~ ya know, he'll just be sitting here. half awake. not like it's any big deal how he looks. it hasn't even dawned on him that he was healed from the point where he was almost eaten alive.

whenever Sasha finally cooperates, he'll look over at her. he doesn't look extremely bad - just bandaged up! but he's got a derp smile, still a little loopy. and of course he's got half of his hospital gown on, the other part is pulled below his amputated arm ]

Hey, look... You came here.

[ This is too much. She feels fear in her heart, looking at him like that-- fear she hasn't felt for months now, fear she hasn't felt since looking at a titan.

She gives in, handing over her bow and arrows to the nurse, and forces herself to swallow the vomit that's gathered in her mouth. Then she shuffles over to Marco's side, trying to be normal, trying to face her fears. ]

Y-you asked us to. [ Don't mind her if she trembles a little. Once she gets used to this, it'll be fine, but Sasha's never been good with dealing with things like this on the spot. ]

Thanks... And sorry, if you were busy.

[ he's got guilt on his mind and closes his eye for a moment, a frown on his face ]

Sorry that I left for a while. I'm sure Weiss is angry with me. She was angry when I left.

[She leans against the wall beside his bed, trying to keep cool and smooth-- just ignore the small trickle of sweat rolling down the side of her face and she's the perfect image of chill. ]

She'll get over it. And don't worry, there wasn't much game happening today. I was just goofing around with my arrows. ... [ SASHA. THATS YOUR JOB. DONT GOOF AROUND.]

I wanted you to teach me how to shoot a bow... [ he's pretty sure that won't ever happen now ]

I... I saw Jean again. But now I know what everyone was talking about... About when I...

[ She almost tells him she still can-- but he's right. It probably won't happen. She swallows, hard, then moves from the wall to sit on the bed, alongside his feet. She's listening along when all of the sudden, she blurts out--]

When you died? [ aw, shit. She said it, and now it's out, no going back. She's one of the few who hadn't been weird about it, hadn't brought it up or anything and-- well. Now he knows she knew the entire time. ]

[ he looks down, not looking at her. there's still a small smile on his face. but there's sadness in his voice. it cracks a little as he shifts in the bed ]

Yeah... I'm not dead though. I'm still alive.

[ She has to make this light- has to ignore the shaking in her hands. Sasha looks up at him, offering a half a smile.]

I hope so. I'd hate to be talking to a dead body right now.

It would be a pretty boring conversation.

[ he looks up, smiling back at her softly. even if it's a sad smile ]

Thank you, Sasha. Thank you for...for coming and staying to talk to me. I know I look horrible and I did this to myself... But thank you.

Marco! [Armin's eyes go wide at what little he sees. What had happened to him?] D-don't worry, Marco - I'm on m-my way!

[It takes him a couple minutes to talk to Weiss and take off work for the rest of the day - but as her personal assistant, as someone she trusts, and more than that, as someone who's literally never taken off work before, he manages it fairly quickly. And then he's off to the hospital, as quickly as he can manage without his 3dmg.

He arrives wheezing, severely out of breath - but doesn't bother to pause, moving immediately to Marco's side. His eyes move quickly over his friend's form, concernedly taking in the damage.]

Marco? [What happened would come later. For now, he just needs to know if his friend is okay.]

[ Marco turns to look over at Armin. there's a small smile on his face ]

I'm okay, Armin... I'm still alive. I -- I saw Jean again!

[Levi doesn't actually bother answering the video message. Instead he'll just come over to the hospital, after leaving his gear back at the mansion because the hospital staff would most likely never stop bothering him about it.

So he's there, not showing any visible signs of concern, even if it's there. He's seen worse things, so he's not really shaken up either.]

Shouldn't you stay here for a while instead of asking us to pick you up?

Ah... Hello, sir. [ he looks away, trying to look at the ceiling. this wouldn't be so awkward if they knew each other more. he probably was thinking that Marco was a moron or that he was weak and worthless ]

I woke up and I was...worried. I just needed to get in touch with someone. I wasn't going to leave until they told me to.

Well, considering your state, I can't blame you.

[It's a small miracle Marco was alive. Petra had died back in their world, but the damage hadn't been this much.]

Did you at least find what you were looking for?

...I suppose so.

[ he's quiet for a moment, thinking it over. it's probably stupid to even tell Levi but-- ]

I went back to see Jean.

[Ah. SO that was the reason in the end. Levi probably should have guessed.

Still, he can't blame the brat. Marco can notice that his posture is a bit more relaxed over the next sentence.]

Did you see him, then?

...Yeah, I did. [ there's a sad smile on his face ]

Everything was okay again. I wish I could've just...stayed there.

[The desire to stay in their world. Levi can't say he's had that ever since he came to Genessia. After all, Petra was no longer there. None of his squad mates were. True, he had the kids there and others, but it wasn't the same after getting a new chance with Petra here.]

I'm sure Jean would rather see you alive and well here.

I know... He'll be upset when he sees me now.

I... I thought the Dream Docks would show you things that happened after you left. I never thought that... I would come back and this would happen to me.

Just explain your reasons and he'll come through.

[With a lot of guilt, if it's the same Jean with the same memories...]

I thought so too. Had I known, I would have stopped you from going.

I had a feeling you were no longer with us from where I was, as I've never seen you around the other teens. [He can admit to that now that the results are seen.] So if I'd known you would experience the pain, I wouldn't have let you go there. You're one of us. If I can help it, I won't let anything happen to my comrades.

C-Captain... I didn't... Expect... [ he looks down, trying to hide his face. he's gripping the sheets and he...just starts to cry. he doesn't know what else to do and he feels so guilty. he feels stupid for what he did more than anything. Petra would be better to handle a situation like this but you got it instead, Levi! ]

[Oh boy. Levi's really not meant for these kinds of situations. It's why he doesn't say much at first. Instead he takes a chair and decided it's best to sit down for now. It's not like he'll leave Marco alone... even if it's awkward.]

What's done is done. You'll find a new lifestyle and we'll be around to help you with that.

[Mansion needs a bit remodeling to help him out, at least.]

T-Thank you... I didn't think you would be so understanding about it.

To be honest, I was a little afraid. I expected you to scold me. [ he looks over, probably looking like hell especially since he still has tears even if he doesn't have an eye and now his gauze is all wet and bloody looking...great ]

Could you hand me a tissue please?

[Levi would comment something about probably looking that way to most, but this isn't really the time and place to start with that. He's just gotten attached to you kids, that's all.

The gauze looks nasty, but it's not the worst thing Levi's seen at least. So he's rather calm as he hands over a tissue from the nearby table.]

You had your reasons. They end results may not have been favorable, but you came back to us and that's what matters.

I do think it was a stupid thing to do, but I can't still blame you for doing it.

Thank you. [ he wipes some of the tears away. frowning lightly, he thinks about what the other says ]

I know... I didn't expect it to happen the way that it did. It was supposed to be just a dream, right? I came back... And I died, then I ended up here.

Apparently, it was way more than that.

[It's good to keep in mind, in case he feels like seeing the future again.]

Do you remember what happened before you died?

[ he looks away, silent for a few seconds ]

I...I do remember... But it's something that I'd rather not talk about. [ he clears his throat ] Sir, when...things are better, I want to talk to everyone about it.

I understand. Take your time.

[Talking about your own death seemed like a difficult thing, though Levi can also sense that something's terribly wrong with this.]

[ he pauses and looks over to him. he smiles, though there's hurt in his eye ]

...Thank you. I appreciate you coming to talk and sit with me. I...I know this isn't something easy. To look at me like this. And I'm sorry for that.

Mar..co...? [He was back and didn't look good at all.] I'm on my way now.

[With that, she promptly shut the feed off to hurry over to him.]

[ Marco will be lying in the hospital bed, bandaged, and looking way worse than when he left. he doesn't notice anyone coming into the room just yet.

...he's missing his right arm from the bicep up and it's bandaged off. he's also has gauze wrapped around the right side of his face, scarring showing through the bottom ]

[Oh man... Marco... She knew what happened to him, but to see this... It was worse. Okay, well, she herself didn't see him in that state.]

Marco.... I'm sorry. We didn't.... want you to have to deal with this... Maybe that was wrong of us, but I... I'm sorry.

This wasn't even the reason that I went back... I didn't care what happened to me...

[ he frowns sadly, looking up at the ceiling before closing his eye ] ...I wanted to see my best friend again.

[She went silent for a moment. She wanted to say something.. Anything... But with nothing coming out, she closed her mouth. What could she really say? She really wanted to see him again too.... Could she really blame Marco...?]

I see. [Not the most talkative response, but... it was all she could manage while trying to push back her own feelings of sadness and loneliness for her friend here.]

I know... [ his voice catches in his throat and he takes a moment to speak again ] It was so...s-stupid.

Maybe.... but I can't blame you. I'd... probably do it too....

I hope you don't do anything like I did... There's no telling what might happen to you. A-At least-- [ he pauses, smiling lightly ] At least I was strong enough to handle it. If Eren comes back, he would be upset that you're hurt.
