VIDEO ❆ a mage and a gladiator walks into a bar (joint intro)
[ Mid-afternoon, sometime after the lunch hour, a public call will go out. Upon answering, one will see their screen full of this guy's charismatic face. ]
IS THIS THING ON!?
[ And an unfortunately loud yell could be heard as he literally screamed at the phone. Before he looks away from the screen, and then back at it again with a lower voice. For those paying attention, there's a glimpse of a mostly cloaked individual in the background. ]
Erm, sorry about that. A bit too excited with this... thing. Whatever it is. Thal's balls, you all could've just used linkpearls, would've made communicating a lot more simpler, yeah? Either ways, uh, I'm Kaelas. And I'm going to let this lady here introduce herself.
[ Stepping up beside him, she'll lean down a little so that her face was on screen. ] Greetings fellow adventurers. Remarkable, I have never magic like this in all of my years studying the arcane... ah, but to remain focused on the goal of an introduction, you may call me Jaina Proudmoore.
My companion and I here are in need of board as well as work if we are to survive in a foreign land. [ Jaina pauses briefly to consider something, then turns to her companion to ask. ] Kaelas, what keeps your hands from going idle?
Ah, I fight! I'm a gladiator, so it's only normal that fighting is how I keep myself occupied! IF ANYONE WISHES TO FIGHT ME, THEY'RE MORE THAN WELCOME TO CHALLENGE ME!
Mm yes. [ Jaina, who could very well be a saint for tolerating his behavior for longer than five minutes, gives a simple nod at the gladiator's words. ] very well. If you wish to take up his challenge, you may find us at the Battle Colosseum.

Colosseum
only here for kaelas
Nanamo is quick to put on a fresh set of clothing and pull her hair back before heading out. She has to make it to this Colosseum and meet with this gladiator post haste, wasting no time. Her little legs carry her there and once she's there? ]
Lil lady, don't you think you're a bit fresh faced to be here?
[ She can try to argue that she's not a child, but no one's hearing any of that. ]
no subject
[ There seems to be a bit of commotion around here, and when he goes to check, someone's arguing with a... Hm. From what he can see of the other person's clothing and demeanor... It's definitely a Lalafell.
Yep, definitely a Lalafell, considering he's dealt with many of them in his stint back in Ul'dah. ]
If ye don't mind, I can take it from here! You shouldn't underestimate a person based on their size, y'know? It'll make you look bad.
[ So he just interrupts the other party before he denied the girl entry. ]
no subject
You have my thanks, gladiator. [ Those words used to carry power, but she has none here in this land away from home.
Nanamo works on straightening her attire out, curious if he's caught on to her identity yet. He hasn't said anything or drop to bended knee meaning... what exactly? She can't allow her guard to drop so carelessly just because of one person's lack of behavior. ]
no subject
[ Hm, for some reason, this Lalafell is... a bit familiar to him, as if he's seen her face somewhere before in recent memory. Scratching his head, he's going to peer over her for a few more seconds before deciding. ]
...By the by, have we met somewhere before? I could've sworn I've seen your face around Ul'dah a few times as it is.
[ ...Yeah. ]
no subject
It might have not been his intention to do so, but she's fretting visibly now. Who would have ever pictured the Sultana, the seventeenth of her line, in children's clothing in another world? ]
You, you recognize me? [ It's all over for her. ]
no subject
[ ...Beat. ]
You do remind me of the Sultana, but that can't be true, right?
[ sheepish laughter, ha... ]
Kaelas only
[When she shows up at the Colosseum, she'll be looking for the loud mouth in the arena.]
I take it you're the one called "Kaelas?"
no subject
[ There's a response from behind her, and if she turns to face him, he has his arms crossed in front of him, looking quite excited. ]
Are you here to take up my challenge?
no subject
[Well, he sure looks excited. Karla finds it quite intriguing as she smiles warmly.]
How could I resist?
[She draws her blade, bringing it down to her side.]
I do hope you can make it worth my while.
no subject
[ He draws both his sword and shield, and starts walking towards the center. Seems like this place is going to keep him entertained for a bit while he tries to find a way back home to his world.
He wouldn't do to keep his friends back home waiting, after all. ]
no subject
So...your move, or mine?
action; right after the post.
[ There's exactly one thing that interested him to the woman in addition to both of them being in the same predicament. ]
You practice the arcane arts, yes?
no subject
Tell me, are you hungry yet? If so, what sort of treat do you fancy? I prefer Dalaran sharp cheddar myself though I wonder if I could pull off the spell here in a foreign world. It would put my mind at ease if I practiced a little on the way.
no subject
[ ...look he's a Gladiator, okay. ]
( video ) For Jaina
Are you referring to this communicator? It's hardly magic. Just a little science.
[He smiles amicably enough, though. She already reminds him of a certain princess with whom he's been keeping company lately. That isn't always a good thing.]
I'm called Balthier. I'm somewhat new to these parts, myself.
[And running dangerously low on those bills he was provided, but a stranger doesn't need to worry about that.]
no subject
Well met, Balthier! As for science? I know little of that. [ She says that, but what would be considered science by most individuals would be considered the arcane in her world just as chemistry was alchemy. It's just a matter of piecing the terms together.
For now, when she thinks of science she compares it towards engineering. ] If only my apprentice was here. It reminds me of the creations the gnomes are always tinkering about with... oh, you are new as well? We must have missed one another down in the Bay.
no subject
[He raises an eyebrow.]
I'm not certain what a gnome is, but if they tinker, they must be something akin to a moogle.
[Uh...actually yeah, Balthier. They are...]
[Video] Both are fine
[She calls out to the man first, but also realizes that the woman mentioned "arcane."]
...You know about arcane?
no subject
[ She shouldn't sound so proud at that, but the name is Proudmoore. ]
no subject
[She's not sure how proud anyone should be...]
no subject
If we are in luck, it would be the same as mine.
no subject
[At least she's assuming that Jaina is human.]
You always did keep odd company.
no subject
Thrall! [ Hopefully he wasn't big on keeping his name a secret because she's tossed out all precaution. ]
It does my heart good to hear and see you, my friend. Odd as my choice in companions may be, there is no one I would trust at my side more than you yourself. [ Don't mind the tiny human lady getting excited for the big green guy, folks. ]
I really need to find a smiling pic of Thrall but... orc smiles are like unicorns.
Lok'tar Ogar, Jaina. I can think of few I would rather stand shoulder-to-shoulder with in this place either. I just hope our constituents can keep themselves from tearing each other apart in our absence.
Still, if there is any aid I can provide, you need only to ask, friend.
yes, yes they are. there might be something in the model viewer, but that's newish thrall model ;-;
You have my thanks as always, Thrall. [ She's a grown woman, clever and more than capable for providing for herself. If she does feel the need to ask for his help, it would have to be towards a problem she can't possibly solve on her own.
Even if he's being a gentleman and offering a hand with no restraint. A favor she would return without hesitation even if she feels as though there's not much she can do here. ]
Are there any others? [ From home. ]
no subject
As far as I can tell, we are the only two from Azeroth in this place. While it is rather refreshing to see a world not divided by the old hate of Azeroth it is... off-putting to be the only Orc in a world of humans.
They say time is about as stable here as in the Caverns of Time... tell me, what is the last thing you remember?
no subject
Ah... that is a good question indeed. [ There's a bit of hesitation as her mind freezes up, thinking of nothing other than the chilling winds of Northrend. ]
There was much happening in Azeroth--[ And with her. ]--though the most significant thing of note was the assault against Icecrown Citadel.
[ Something aches inside of her, but she keeps her emotions at bay. Jaina doesn't bother asking for his own in return; she trusts his judgement and believes he will tell her what she needs to know without her ever asking for it. ]
no subject
I see. The last I remember, Garrosh and I had just arrived in Icecrown to oversee the Argent Tournament. It would seem you are just slightly ahead of myself in that regard.
[Says the man who has been here less than a week himself.]
[ and he's seen a lot of shit in the arena as it is. ]
Re: [Video]
I've been a fish out of water before, but this place is nothing like anything I've experienced.
[ ... ]
I could do with less of these doohickeys being introduced all at the same time, to be honest.
Re: [Video]
I'm lucky that there's a place here more like my home.
[ Don't mind him, he's just interested in new sights to see. ]
Re: [Video]
no subject
He doesn't seem to mind the companionship.
[ Though that could be due to the fact she fed him first thing. ]
no subject
["Doesn't seem to?" Interesting.]
Doesn't sound like you came from the same place, either.
no subject
[ Her smile just grows even friendlier with that. ] A good way to an adventurer's heart is through their stomach. Furthermore, is it not best to travel in pairs in a foreign place? We both are capable fighters so if we were to be attacked, our odds of survival are more favorable together than apart.
no subject
You make a good point. It almost sounds like you're something of an old pro at this.
I didn't have that kind of luxury when I first showed up. But I was lucky and found the people here kind enough to help me. One even opened his home to me, at least temporarily.
no subject
You're too kind, friend.
And it appears you have been rewarded in turn for it.
no subject
I don't know how much of it is kindness versus simple luck. All I've ever done was what I can to make an honest go at whatever comes my way.
Anyway, I should introduce myself, shouldn't I? My name's Ike. I'm a traveling sellsword. Well, minus the "traveling" bit ever since I showed up here.
