Let's squish some spidahs
Who: Lucy Heartfilia, Natsu Dragneel, Troy Dantes
When: 10/26/15
What: Bounty Hunting Time!
Where: Fayren
[ Normally when Lucy accepted missions from the paper, she and Natsu would venture out to take cae of it on their own. To her surprise, this time someone else would be joining them. Not Satsuki this time, but someone she didn't know. Their client had insisted on it, for some reason thinking the pair would need more help. So Lucy stood outside the client's home with her partner, as it had been an agreed upon meeting point. Absently she rubbed at her knee, wrinkling her nose. glancing towards Natsu. ]
So how ...big do you think these "giant" spiders are, exactly?
[ Monster spiders were gross, but not scary. She hoped. Little bitty ones on the other hand - there had been many a time when Lucy would shriek and pitch a fit if something tiny and fuzzy went scooting across her hand or leg or something. Just the thought of it made her shudder as she glanced down the road to see if the other had shown up yet. ]

Hmmmm how big? I dunno maybe twice my size?

[The sound of hard boot footsteps followed the voice coming from behind Natsu and Lucy, and it was the third member of their party coming in garbed in full armor. He reveals his face as his helmet's visor retracts on its own, he greets them with a confident laid-back smile as he eyes both characters. He places his rifle on his back just as he got close enough to the two strangers he'd be working with. They look capable, and he's curious to see how they fight. He already made a crack at Natsu so he looks to Lucy, nodding upwards to greet her.]
Got a game plan set for this mission? I'm all set to go.
no subject
I hate the ones that are that big. They're all fuzzy and they make those weird noises and uggh.
[ Fortunately they've fought things that were ten times their size and up. ]
Average? [ Lucy glanced at the newcomer. ] In our experience, I think that'd be kind of small - but that suits me just fine. As for game plan - the old tried and true go in, beat up the things, and get out works.
[ A slight frown. ]
It'd be good if we found some of the missing villagers too. Even if they aren't...well... alive. It'll a least give their families some closure.

[That being said having to look for survivors did take out his main tactic. Something that Natsu grudgingly had to endure.]
Yeah it's a bit of a pain not just getting to blow fire down the nest and just take out whatever comes running out but if we can save or find someone, I guess it's worth it.

Troy turns his attention back to Lucy, who is quite the looker, he thought. It seems they're really just going to gung-ho this out. While he is up for the challenge, he's a little skeptical about how this would work out. He's already assuming these two are magic users. Nobody else would be this reckless]
That's not much of a plan, but it'll do. I don't mind a challenge.
[Troy scratches his chin, sighing to himself. He would think of a more elaborate battle plan, but somehow he doubts these two would cooperate with a complete stranger and they're running out of time for these survivors]
Let's get a move on. The longer we stay here, the less chances we'll have in finding anyone alive.
no subject
Right ...er... [ A pause. ] What was your name?
[ The client didn't exactly provide that information, and Lucy refused to go on a mission referring to someone as 'uh- hey you'. But she turned to Natsu next, already starting to walk, taking point and, pulling a map out out to show both in the party. ]
Anyway, moving on -- the client said that the spider nests were in this general area-- you can pin it down easier once we get in their territory, right Natsu?
no subject
Ngh I already got a lead. Something that reeks of death.
no subject
Just call me Troy, ma'am.
[He gives a saluting gesture before his helmet self-assembles on his entire head. He didn't bother asking for their names, figuring it wouldn't matter after all this is done. Once Lucy and Natsu take point, Troy decided to just follow and be on the supporting role and observe the capabilities of these two for himself.]
no subject
Ugh.. then call me Lucy, not "ma'am". And this is Natsu.
[ Not that he asked - but working with someone without knowing their name made her skin crawl. She was pretty sure she'd have nightmares if she had to deal with someone calling her ma'am all the time. Ugh and double Ugh. Shaking that off, she turned to Natsu, frowning. ]
Death? ..Are you sure?
[ Psh, if anyone would be, he would, she knew. That... didn't bode well though. She absently moved her hand to one of her keys. ]
Lead the way.
no subject
Yeah I'm sure. I know this smell from anywhere.
no subject
Lucy and Natsu it is. Gotcha.
[He didn't dwell on that anymore and instead focused his mind on the mission. He stayed behind Natsu, moving at a gentle pace and observing their surroundings himself. Troy could smell the decay from where he's standing as well despite the mask he's wearing. He readies his firearm for an encounter...]

No telling how many of these things there might be here - or how many caves are networked in the tunnels. Virgo might have better luck checking deeper in though-
[ For as quietly as she was speaking though, it wasn't quiet enough - the clicking noises were getting louder, coming down one of the tunnels, while three large spiders, roughly ten feet high, scuttled across the ceiling of the cavern with surprising agility, two dropping off to land an ambush on the fleshy warm humans below.!~ ]

Damn overgrown bugs.

Contact.
[Troy's suit sensors detected company the same time Natsu heard them coming. His instincts kick in, aiming at any incoming creature with his assault rifle. The particle beams that burst out the muzzle burns with a bright, searing heat. His shots are controlled and in short bursts.]
We're going to be sitting ducks here real soon. Better use that Virgo thing you mentioned, Lucy. We got your back.

[ Not her first rodeo, this, and definitely not the first time she's worked with others. Lucy was already in the process of casting her summoning spell, when Troy spoke up. She didn't bother acknowledging beyond that though, since she she was checking out her surroundings. It looked like the sounds of battle was drawing more of the nasty buggers -wait, were spiders bugs? Meh - ]
Open, Gate of the Maiden! Virgo!
[ She swept her key downward, opening the gateway to the Celestial World and praying Virgo wouldn't pop up in an awkward spot or worse. She never knew what to expect from her friend.
And Virgo appearance in 3...2 ...]no subject
GEODUDE(ETTE)
A distinct *ping pong* can be heard upon her arrival, and she speaks with a dead gaze forward.]
I am here, Princess.
[And wobbling a bit. Shoulder rides aren't exactly her forte...]
no subject
Dammit. I really want to blow this place sky high.

He didn't get to dwell on Virgo much and focused on the more important task at hand. Seeing a spider attack from their blindspot, Troy activates his suit jets to tackle the creature with great force. He lands softly on the rocky ground, pacing backwards to his original position]
That makes two of us.
[Troy responds to Natsu, resuming his fire in bursts and making no hostile get close to him and his party. Natsu might start to feel their chances dwindle, but being an idealist, Troy still wants to believe there's still people here. He's now just waiting on what Virgo could do before offering to take the lead deeper in to the caves]
no subject
O-oi! Virgo! What's the big idea..! [ You're so WEIRD. But that's part of why she liked the spirit. She patted her on her pink haied head with an awkward smile. ]
Could you let me down, please--?
[ Unlike the boys, Lucy didn't thrill over public destruction. Even if it was just a cave. Sadly, much as they could try to keep the spiders from getting close, it was an unrealistic prediction - the spiders intended on overwhelming with number, allowing two of their number to draw fire while another closed in for a close range attack, jumping to avoid blasts of flames weaponfire alike. Two charged in on Natsu, with another scuttling after Troy, to draw his attention while its companion dropped on the military man from above to sing its poisonous fangs into him. RRR.
While all of this was going on, Lucy's attention was on Virgo. ]
Virgo, can you tunnel down and scout out the rest of the cave? Let me know if there are any other survivors. Or how many other spiders there are.
no subject
[Virgo sinks into the ground, only to rise up once more to receive her orders. Finally she nodded, and headed back downward.
There's a lot of ground to cover, but and it would be roughly two rounds before she returned to Lucy with the appropriate information- And not only verbal information, she apparently even had time to scribble out a map of the cave area. According to it there were three groups of people, two groups of two and one of three but none of them survived. Numerous web traps are marked, and predictably the nest is in the very center. There are roughly thirty giant spiders in the area.
Finally Virgo notes that just under the floor of the nests center is a river of magma where there is an even larger group of delicious spider eggs. A viable strategy could be to kite as large a group as possible toward it, then blow out the floor.]
no subject
There's gonna be nothing but ashes left of you freaks after I'm through with you!
no subject
Seeing Virgo return, Troy remains in defense but spares some attention to Lucy and her servant to hear any updates on the hostages]
no subject
You've been talking with Taurus haven't you?
[ Lucy cast a glance around at the sound of the two boys fighting - the attacks on humans must have made the spiders resilient and fearless both. They weren't staying down, and ... judging from the information Virgo delivered to her, There were ten -- no, six still in the cavern with the 'humans', and another thirty deeper in? She didn't need to do the math to know they were at a severe disadvantage. Blowing out the floor was one possibility, but she didn't want to fight through waves of spiders to get towards that magma river. ]
We need to leave. Now. [ She felt sick to her stomach - yet as she withdrew her whip from her side, she snapped it at one of the spiders, lancing it across the eyes as it lashed one way, only to seize one of its massive legs to trip it up, sending it tumbling into three of its brethren. ]
There are too many of them...and there aren't any survivors besides. [ She added, turning to Virgo. ] It's too far in to the center of the nest where the magma source is - trying to collapse the cave may be a better option. If we can't kill them all, we can at least make it so they can't get out. [ And then they can starve to death or eat each other. Whateve. ]
Thanks for your help Virgo. You can go back now; we'll talk later.

[With that he leaps forward and lightning starts coiling around the flames that burst from the entirety of his body.]
You stinking bugs. I'll crush all of you!
[With that Natsu inhaled deeply and blasted the entirety of the tunnel with his breath, fire and lightning filling the cavernous passageways like a torrent of destructive energy.]
no subject
Alright. You let 'er rip. Ladies first Lucy, let's go. I'll be right behind ya.
[Since he has the gun it would make more tactical sense that he guards the rear. He can just shoot at any thing that follows them]
no subject
[ Lucy waved him on, moving a short distance away to keep an eye on Natsu - knowing him, if he got too angry she'd have to drag him out, and wasn't about to leave her partner. On the plus side, she knew he wasn't sticking around to fight. That was just a death sentence for anyone. ]
We'll meet up with you outside the cave entrance.
[ Once he collapsed the tunnel so the spiders couldn't get out at least. ]
no subject
[He says just as he holds his bandaged arm to the side and closing his fist, flames violently erupting along his arm.]
no subject
I'd listen to your buddy. From the looks of it, the collapsing cave and the spiders jumping at ya are less dangerous than whatever he's about to do.
no subject
Don't -completely- destroy the place! We're only going to get paid half as it is! If you go buck wild like usual we won't get paid ANYTHING!
[ Glancing briefly at Troy, she nodded, somewhat distractedly, though it was obvious she wasn't going to budge on her own. It wasn't the first time she refused to run off on her own. ]
