[When Belle was not working at the library, she was still at the library reading a book or jotting down notes. When she thinks she has things figured out she switches on the feed in order to speak. When she finally settles the device down it's obvious she is pretty much surrounded by books, for what reason she was about to say.]

Fayren had a very... eventful situation a few days ago didn't it? I really wasn't expecting anything quite like that when I arrived, but now it's passed and I've been busy working on one of my skills.

[She moves a book and placed it in front of herself looking down at it.]

I thought I would try and see if there was a language here that I didn't know and to learn it. [She paused slightly.] So I would love to see how everyone's language looks written. If anyone is willing to show me?

[She was happy if people didn't but she was enjoying learning about other languages and it still made her wonder if perhaps this world had something like this another language somewhere that needed translating. Maybe giving them answers.]

[It takes a minute before he flips the feed to video and holds up a sheet of paper with the following on it: 黒羽 快斗 ]

That's how my name is written in Japanese.

[She nodded slightly. While she had lived on Earth for at least 28 years now, most of which were pretty much the same day in and out with her being in the hospital and she still hadn't gotten around to learning the other languages and such so this was a first, or at least someone showing her anyway.]

So that's how your name is translated in your native language. It's quite fascinating really. I assume each character means a certain part of your name, correct?

In Kanji, yes. We have three writing systems in Japanese, Kanji, Hiragana and Katakana. Kanji are the ones that are the complicated looking ones.

This [He points to the 黒] translates to "black" in English, while this [he points to the 羽 ] translates to "feather", so my family name, Kuroba, translates into "black feather."

Black feather. So then what would your first name mean?

There's a couple of different means, but it seems like the most popular is 'kite.'

And what is the other? Though Black Feather and Kite do kind of go together.

"Pleasant Big Dipper" actually and Big Dipper is in reference to the constellation.

Ah, I think I read about that constellation, though have never seen it myself personally.

So you name can ether mean Pleasant Big Dipper Black Feather or Kite Black Feather when translated. I know what mine means and I'm sure I will discover other name meanings in time.

I know with Japanese, it all depends on the reading of the Kanji, so your's might mean something different depending on how it's used?

Then again, it's been a long time since I've looked at French at all, Dad used to love dropping it in conversations when talking to Mom. If I'm right and assuming that 'Belle' is supposed to be French.

I believe so, though I will add I've never actually been to France. But I know that my name means Beautiful. I guess my parents gave me that name because they thought I was or something, I don't know.

I wish I knew why my parents chose the name they did. I never thought to ask and Mom's always traveling anymore, I never get to talk to her unless it's over the computer.

[She gives a small sad smile for a moment. It just reminded her that her mother wasn't around any more.]

Even though she is, being able to talk to her never the less must be nice.

[Kaito often wonders what he would give for one last chance to talk to his Dad. He's not entirely sure he wants to know, Toichi had been such a centerpiece to life before he died.]

Yeah. And it makes her happy to get out and do things. I probably would have joined her, if it wasn't for school and Aoko and stuff.

Languages are interesting, aren't they? I like Latin the best, I think.

Although I suppose the place to start would be to ask what languages you already know.

[Being what he was, Will could speak and write all the languages of man. Although it wasn't really something he advertised. ]

They are, though some things I've had to translate might not even be a language and just a written one instead. But there are so many that it makes one curious.

[What ones she knew well, that was not easy to make a list since some of the languages weren't even from this world, or earth for that matter.]

If I just say not languages that might be found on earth would that help? Though I believe there is one that is from earth I know, Chinese I believe it is called.

So there are many versions of Earth, or as we knew it a land without magic?

I think it must be so. [He grins suddenly. ] Because the Earth I know is certainly not without magic.

So magic actually existed on your version then?

[The only magic that was around was in there little town. It couldn't go outside of it as far as she was aware.]

Oh there are many people indeed in my world who believe that there is no magic in it. That magic is only something that belongs in half-forgotten stories to tell children.

But there is magic. It is in the wild places of the world, and it is in the Old Ways. It is in the very operation of the universe, for it is magic that keeps the planets turning in their courses and the stars shining.

Really? That is what magic can do. I mean I know there are all kinds, but not magic that was that important.

There are many kinds of magic in my world. That is the High Magic, which watches over the operation of the universe and holds judgement over the laws of magic.

[Will smiles, a little sadly.]

Where I come from, magic is a very weighty matter indeed.

Weighty matter? What exactly do you mean by that? I mean I might have some idea, but for all I know I could be wrong.

Since the beginning of time, there have been two opposing forces. The Light and the Dark, a cold white flame that burns at the center of the universe and a great black pit as deep as the universe. And since they beginning of time they have fought a war for the future of humanity.

[The boy is silent for a moment, as he thinks of how to explain. ]

For the Dark wants nothing more than to see a world where such things as goodness and mercy and humanitarianism can no longer exist. All the things that allow men to exist with each other in peace. A world where even the choice to wish for such things can no longer be made. The Light exists only to oppose the Dark. For it is our task to see to it that no matter what choice is made by men, whether for good or ill, that they still have the right to make that choice free of any other influence.

So that is your task, to make sure things are balanced and that people can make a choice or decide there own fate of what they want to do without that darkness? That's a very noble job for people to do it sounds like and a lot of work as well.
