Operation 2 | [Log]
Who: Gale Reinhardt, Troy Dantes
When: 11/8
What: Hunting the Leather Man
Where: Attleton
Warnings: Maybe an inappropriate comment or two from Gale but nothing beyond PG. Will update if necessary.
So when evening came, there he was, standing in the middle of Attleton streets decked out in his purple flight suit and butterfly mask again (complete with the four wires sticking out of his neck). He figured if there was some homicidal maniac, the guy wouldn't want to come out in broad daylight to do his dirty work. That's best done in the cover of night, especially since the guy was already spotted once. Of course, right now Gale probably stuck out more than some guy with a chainsaw, with the faint purple glow on the trims of his flight suit and the cyan glow of the 'veins' on his neck.
It was weird doing bounty work again. It reminded him of his days with the Crystal Underground, only far less interesting since he doesn't have his sisters to aid him. Although, it was easy to tell that someone was there too, the HUD of his mask detecting another presence close to his location.]
Oy, care to show yourself? It's not safe to go out alone at night, y'know. You might run into some weirdo with a chainsaw.
[Or worse. A guy in a butterfly mask.]

Troy took to the roofs of the houses, clad in his entire armor and tried to be as watchful and stealthy as he could. He blended with the shadows quite well actually, that was why he was impressed when someone called him out from the street. He detected Gale as soon as the cyborg detected him, but it was Gale that decide to be loud and potentially scare the target away. Troy frowns and sighs to himself, shaking his head before walking out of the darkness and under the light of a street lamp.]
I am hoping to run into a weirdo with a chainsaw. It's finding another needle in a haystack that's unexpected.
[It's a no brainer that Gale is here for the bounty. Troy sizes him up, trying to determine whether he could trust him or not; though he couldn't. Gale looks too different to the sort of people he's used to. Troy observes him curiously behind his helmet. That mask of his was particularly interesting]
What are you? Nobody would be able to detect me like that just now. Not without some help.
no subject
So we're both here for the same target. Well, I guess as they say, strength in numbers.
[Not that he was even sure that Troy would be willing to have company... but he was going to get it anyway whether he wanted it or not. He did let out a low whistle when he looked over the armor again.]
Though awful lot of countermeasure just for a guy auditioning to be the next big horror movie monster, don't you think?
[He put a hand to his neck and cracked it before circling his shoulders. He was still being mindful of their surroundings- that guy wasn't going to escape Gale's notice if he tried to get by the two, but he didn't mind the detour of talking to Troy.]
Cyborg. You get some pretty cool implants when you nearly die apparently.
[Sure, his mask had a big part in it too, but he'll keep the HUD details of that to himself for now.]

Troy elected not to answer Gale's probably rhetorical question. Instead redirecting the focus of the conversation on the newcomer instead.]
I figured it was either that or a full-on clanker. That would explain your sensors.
[Troy points at Gale's entire get up and cybernetic implants. He figures he could at least introduce himself, but he was still skeptical about this man. He reveals his face instead, with his helmet's face mask sliding back]
I don't think our target would give a damn if he sees either one of us alone, so unfortunately that strength in numbers you mentioned might deter the bastard.
[His mask closes. Troy takes his rifle from his back before speaking again]
I know it's a horrible horror movie cliche but we should split. What's the maximum range of your sensors?
[One is wearing a suit of armor that pretty much makes him half a robot, while the other is literally half machine, so the rules of horror movies wouldn't apply to them here]
no subject
[He can't help but be amused by that term though, but now wasn't really the time to cite Night Butterfly problems. The task at hand was to catch this chainsaw wielding maniac, and unfortunately, he figured Troy was right about there being two of them potentially deterring the target. He wasn't worried though. So long as they were both willing to work together, catching him should be quick, and so far Gale sees no reason why he shouldn't cooperate with Troy. Especially with a face like that.]
I could give numbers, but let me just put it down as I can see down this whole stretch of road and then some with little difficulty. And add a full 360 sensory range about thirty feet around me courtesy of this.
[He taps the side of his mask. Thirty feet wasn't exactly much, but it sufficed for cases like this. It had a much better system when he was connected to the Gripen, but alas, there was no place to get that. Probably for the best.]
Fact of the matter is if that fancy suit of armor is as good as it looks, that guy has no hope of getting away from us.
[He glanced around briefly before he turned away from Troy, ready to get back to the job, but not without another quip.]
I think the only horror movie cliché we need to worry about is getting 'sidetracked' by a lady, if you catch my drift. But I trust we're a little more focused than that.
no subject
Heh. I hope we are.
[Troy nods as he listens to Gale speak, watching the other man tap the side of his mask. Troy's eyes squints as he focused his curious gaze at the mask, and wonders about what he was about to say next]
30 feet is a good enough range. I'll be that far away from you while we comb through these streets. I'll take the higher ground and hop from roof to roof. I have permission from the locals to do that, worked my charm on one of the ladies in charge here.
[Troy waggles his eyebrows underneath his helmet, but the shrug of his shoulders and the chuckle on the back of his throat was enough to show his laid-back expression]
Let's get moving. But let me try something first...
[Troy wouldn't know if this would work, considering their tech is from completely different worlds and have evolved differently, but he's trying to connect to Gale's visor wirelessly so they could communicate during the mission]
no subject
[Though Gale assumes that charm works on more than just the girls. Troy was certainly easy on Gale's eyes, that's for sure. But they had a job to do so Gale has to check people out some other time.
His eyes were drawn to a flashing icon on his mask's HUD- indicating someone was trying to connect. His eyebrow quirks as he lets the connection through, mildly surprised that Troy's suit was able to reach his visor.]
Interesting. I'm impressed that this works.
[He turns his neck to give Troy a small nod.]
He'll likely see me first if he's out. No way he'd see you before me out here.
[He grinned then.]
And I prefer it that way.
no subject
Hah! You got jokes and you like danger. You're a man after my own heart.
[Troy just had to have a comment right before he walks a couple of steps backwards. He motions Gale to go on as he vanished into the shadows once again, moving towards the roofs of the suburban houses. Despite his suit or armor, Troy knows how to keep his presence minimal]
Alright, let's see how well this comm link works once I get far enough. You go on and do your thing and hope our target finds you interesting enough to turn into bacon bits. Metallic bacon bits.
no subject
Maybe I'll successfully win it if I'm lucky and play my cards right.
[He may have pulled the mask away from his face just enough to throw a wink in Troy's direction before immediately putting it back in place. He can take the time out of the mission long enough to make a quick flirt, but he's immediately got his mind back on the job as he starts walking ahead and gives a leisurely wave.]
Hey, there'd be some meat in there. Gimme a little credit here, I'm not 100% Tin Man, y'know.
[While he was increasing the distance between them, he didn't even wait until Troy's first transmission before testing it himself.
Callsign's Orlok, by the way.
no subject
Copy that. Mine is Overlord. Nice to meet ya.
[He responds with a light-hearted tone. He reached the roof of the last house on the street. He waited for his new ally to reach the end of the road, which branches to two going left and right]
no subject
[If he took the time, he could probably think of some kind of questionable remark about Troy's callsign, but he's got other remarks in mind. He stops in the middle of the road, slowly looking between the two paths as he rest his hands on his hips, pondering which path to take.]
You happen to get any extra intel on this guy? Body type, anything that stands out outside of 'leather daddy with a chainsaw'?
no subject
Tall, general consensus put him around 6'10". Large frame. Wears a scarecrow mask and scars on his forearm.
no subject
Roger that. A guy like that should stick out quite a bit given how mundane all the other townsfolk are.
[He took another few steps forward and stopped when he saw another icon flickering on the corner of his mask. He turned his attention to the street on his right, starting down it with a quick pace.]
Oi, that fancy suit of yours able to detect any recent activity, Overlord? The HUD's pickin' up somethin' at your three o'clock.
no subject
[Troy's suit sensors detected something in that vicinity at the same time Gale did, but Troy had doubt that it could just be a citizen who didn't listen to the curfew. Still it was worth checking out with his fellow hunter. Staying on the high ground, Troy made a long leap to cross the street, using the thrusters of his suit to make it in one jump.]
I don't know what kind of weapons you have, but we need this guy alive.
no subject
Him? Alive? After what he did?
[He clicked his tongue before he finally ran in the direction that Troy went, ducking beside a house and peering around the corner. He dashed past and into a nearby alley adjacent to where his sensors were detecting movement. He was aware of the same thing Troy was - there was a possibility it could just be a civilian, but he also knew that if he made himself known while displaying relatively suspicious movements, then it might provoke them if they're the target. Besides, how likely was it that a civilian was out when they were all aware a murderer is out?]
Got any visuals? Normally I'm more for chargin' in, but there's too many damn civvies in this place to take the chance.
no subject
[Honestly, a part of Troy wants to just fire a particle beam through this killer's skull and watch him disintegrate, but he's more noble than that now. If the people want a fair trial, despite what the man did, he'll just let them have it.]
Let me see.
[As Troy stopped his sprint, he checks down below him from the edge of the roof. Would he see a civilian, or is it the criminal they've been chasing? Either way, he's got his rifle ready.]
