Preparations
General mingle
Third wheeling like a boss
She wasn't sure what to get as a gift so Satsuki got hi- uh, he- uh, them a bottle of cologne, though it is quite nicely wrapped, cared of a certain Nonon.
She, sadly, isn't making an effort to mingle, otherwise. She's mostly just here to watch. Don't.. Mind her.
Yes good
Mikoshiba--knowing that Hori was performing a romantic monologue for Kashima--had insisted on Kashima dress up for the party. And while the two usually shared clothes and decided on attire without issue or question, Mikoshiba had pulled a very similar stunt to the one he'd pulled at the housewarming party. While Kashima had initially planned to wear slacks and a shirt, she'd been convinced (cajoled would probably be a better term) to wear one of her more 'flirty' work skirts to the party instead.
So the prince of Roman Academy shows up to her birthday party in a knee-length a-line skirt and blouse, and sweater because it is cold out, after all. Altogether it almost looks more like her school uniform than anything else, but it's decidedly mor feminine and as far as Mikoshiba is concerned it achieves his goal of showing off her legs for Hori. So, yeah.
Speaking of the crew's antics...When Kashima sees Satsuki, she waves cheerfully, with no clue of the confusion she's about to cause.
"Ah! Good afternoon, Kiryuin-san! Thank you for coming."

When Satsuki sees Kashima arrive in that attire, her eyes widen, then she casually draws the hand holding the wrapped box behind her back. Like, seriously, is she kidding right now?? What is happening!
"Ah, yes.. Thank you for having me." she replies, appearing as calm as usual but rest assured inside she is extremely confused and quite possibly even embarrassed. Kashima appears quite comfortable in her outfit and so Satsuki isn't certain what to think right now other than maybe this is just all some odd game? "That is a rather charming ensemble you're wearing. Is.. It for a play or some such?"
no subject
Kashima glances at her outfit, then back at Satsuki, confusion clear on her face. Honestly, Kashima had been convinced she had several other things to wear and it had only been at a certain redhead's insistence that she wore this at all...meaning Satsuki's comment actually has her a bit embarrassed. "Oh. No, I'm not performing today. Just watching!"
Still, she smoothes a hand over the skirt and then shrugs. "Mikoshiba insisted." Green eyes glance to the other side of the room, where her friend is chatting away with Mayu, before returning to Satsuki.
Sorry Satsuki. Kashima even had the president of the drama club convinced. Until she walked out of the girls' changing room.

"Thank you for Kiryuin-san! I like to dress up Kashima... It's kind of a hobby now." He says casually. For someone so meek and easily mortified, he doesn't realize the different ways his words could be taken.
But he seems to realize a moment later who he's talking to, and any initial calm he had from rushing into the situation is gone. He has to hide partially behind Kashima to keep talking.
"Do you like theatre, Kiryuin-san?"

Satsuki is all right (for the most part) with having made an error. The issue here is that she has made a pretty expensive error and there is pretty much nothing she can do about it at this time. If Koishi were here then maybe, just maybe she could have sent her to make an exchange.
This is horrible.
Before she can inquire on the 'whys', Mikoto is more than happy to provide an explanation himself and, frankly, the redhead is acting as peculiar as ever. But damned if he isn't charming. "I believe I have heard of such a hobby before. Do you aspire to be a fashion designer, Mikoshiba?"
Beat.
"I would say so, though I am partial toward kabuki theatre and rakugo." she notes.

For someone at the top of her class, Kashima really hasn't picked up on the fact that it's only at parties with Hori that Mikoshiba cares what Kashima wears. And it's only that she wears a skirt. And it's only because Hori has admitted in the past that he likes nice-looking legs. The antics of this particular group of highschool students are second to none.
"I've not done any kabuki or rakugo. Kabuki...is outside of my skill set. Not to mention that even with recent changes it's still traditionally performed by men--even though it would be easy to pretend, I wouldn't exactly be welcome." Kashima shrugged, tilting her head. "Rakugo would be fun, Kiryuin-san, though I don't think the drama club would be able to perform it. A one-person show...people would feel left out!"
Regardless, Kashima beams. "I wouldn't expect you to be partial to rakugo, though. I suppose everyone has a sense of humor, even when they're trying to hide it."
no subject
"I don't think that's how hobbies work." Was it? He's both kind of grateful Kashima doesn't realize why he's so adamant about the skirts, and ready to hit the wall in frustration.
"You might be able to pull off rakugo, though, Kashima. I can think of few people who would enjoy that." Staring at her face.
"What do you think, Kiryuin-san?"
no subject
"I take no issue with your strengths; persue what you enjoy and do it well." Satsuki first replies to Yuu. "I enjoy various kinds of theatre, those two are just favorites." As for the final comment, she flatly replies, "I suppose, yes."
"It sounds as if you are very talented. You have plenty of time to decide, but I would be interested in seeing your designs sometime." to Mikoto. As for what she thinks, Satsuki ends up furrowing her brows a moment in thought. "Agreed. I believe Kashima possesses quite the visual charm, and the way h- she speaks really draws ones attention. I would certainly attend."

"Ah--I love some of these plays. Thank you, Mayu-kun!"

[ Kashima gets a hug.]
Hori's gift: The performance
Hori is standing in the middle of stage, dressed up as a prince. He's completely focused and only starts performing once the mood is set right within the audience. It's a monologue - a solo performance acted by a single person.
When Hori acts, his passion is clear from his voice and he's completely in the story he's telling. The story of a prince, who saw another prince in his dream and fell in love with him. So he travels over the ocean, determined to find the prince he's never met. He keeps talking about how he can't get the prince from his mind and how he must meet him in order to settle down his heart.
Finally, he takes of his hat and falls down on one knee, as if to signal he has found who he was looking for and looks at the audience - clearly at Kashima's direction - with all the passion he holds in his eyes.
Then he speaks the final words of his performance.
"I laughed at the thought
Of love at first sight, but our
Love had the last laugh."
With the final words, he gets up and bows at the audience.
Gggthgh
guyprince. Kashima knew that Hori did work with the theatre, and thought maybe he'd pulled some strings or asked someone to perform a little skit, something short and small and mostly to humor her. Despite being the lead performer at Roman Academy, after all, Kashima did actually enjoy watching others perform--it was how she'd gotten into the art to begin with.So imagine her surprise when the lights dimmed and a single spotlight came on, one set of footsteps audible to stage right, and then it's simply Hori-senpai. From his vantage point on stage, Hori wouldn't be able to see the genuine look of surprise, her mouth just slightly slack-jawed, green eyes wide. It has been ages since she's seen Hori act, much less truly perform, so to see so is nothing less than a treat.
Which is why, perhaps unexpectedly, she hangs on to his every word as he performs his monologue, silent. She usually watches attentively but excitedly, fidgeting--picking at her sleeves, playing with her hair, moving in her seat--but this time she's perfectly still and silent.
And while she knows the lights on stage are positively blinding, she can feel Hori meeting her gaze at the end of the monologue. His eyes are on her, she's sure of it, as if he knew exactly where she was supposed to end up sitting. As if the monologue was directed towards her.
By the time Hori is back on his feet to raucous applause, Kashima's ears are red hot, burning with embarrassment, the flush almost certainly starting to settle on her cheeks. People near her, on their feet and cheering, and she's still in her seat, gobsmacked. Speechless. Frozen.
Mikoshiba nudges her. At least now she's clapping.

He can hear Mikoshiba sobbing in the back and when Hori's last words ring out, he reaches over to grab Chiyo's hand in his. It's just so touching - he can't compose himself! It's just as perfect as he imagined.
He might also ruin this by sniffling.
