Campaigning, calling in favors, and general skullduggery [OPEN/ACTION]
"Running for office, as wearisome as it is, has the advantage of allowing you to meet and get to know many different types of people you wouldn’t normally associate with in your daily life. This is perfectly respectable during a campaign— in fact you would be thought a fool if you didn’t take advantage of it— so that you can eagerly and unashamedly cultivate friendships with people no decent person would talk to."
So that's just what he's going to do! His staff had prepared him for this, memorizing names and addresses; now was the time to travel door-to-door, shamelessly electioneering, doing favors and demanding favors, all to seek those precious votes. And that means you! Yes, you. Especially you.
Vyers: You were one of my first friends here, and our first conversation was on the subject of Guardianship. Will you help me again, and lend me your influence? If you don't, I just might stop going easy on you during our martial arts sessions together. Oh, and congratulations on another unopposed win. I'm envious.
Satsuki: I know people think of you as a hard woman, but I sometimes wonder about the veracity of that. You've selflessly assisted me in my affairs; would it be too much to ask to do so again, in my time of need? Of course, It'd be my pleasure to throw a few kind words your way too.
Satori & Koishi: I'm glad that such an unlikely friendship has bloomed. I never dreamed I'd be able to get on the good side of two "monsters". Would you be willing to do me the kindness of giving me your support now? I'd be happy to do the same.
David: As I said I wouldn't, I haven't forgotten the aid you've lent me in my desperate hour. Such an hour has come again, and I must shamelessly ask the same. May I have your influence behind me? As always, I'm in your debt. Congratulations on your victory, by the way. One of these days we'll have to trade places.
Luke Triton: I always enjoy our weekly talks, even if I sometimes run dry and run out of things to talk about. (this never happens) Would you do me the favor of giving your support? I'm counting on you and people like you to help me keeping Everglade safe.
Cicero, Quintus Tullius (2012-02-13). How to Win an Election: An Ancient Guide for Modern Politicians
Ted took the ancient advice to heart. Far be it from him to look The Fool and refuse a chance to meet and greet all the interesting people in the world.

Re: Private
[Aww shucks. You're making him blush.]
"By now I know better than to ask whether you mean it. Thank you David."
[Private/Voice]
[Here that clank of glass to saucer? It sounds more like she's enjoying delicious tea than laughing. She really did need it, though. She would have preferred any opponent other than Weiss. When it comes to facing rivals, holding back isn't her strongest suit.]
So what have you discovered that has you concerned?
Re: [Private/Voice]
Well, have a genuine laugh, if only to show her how it's done. "Oh, just a neutral, or 'soft' candidate. I'm too good and Dracula's too evil, so Fai's just about hit the mark, to put things simply. Really the facts are on my side, but I wonder if expecting rational voters isn't mystical thinking.
You seem sure of yourself as ever. Are things going all right on your end?"
[Private/Voice]
She takes another sip from her cup.
"There is something particularly annoying about having someone you have placed hope in suddenly becoming your opponent. Other than that, I am well." Beat. "Getting to the point, you have my support."
Re: [Private/Voice]
"You place your hope in such strange subjects. Present company excluded, of course. I'm curious to know what else you were expecting from a rich woman. What I find most bizarre is how she went for Nova City instead of the one she actually lives in. It's almost like she's picking a fight." Meow hiss.
"Not that you need political advice from me, but I find it's always helpful to focus on delineation. If I knew either of you less, it'd be easy to assume you're both about the same. It'd be a shame to let breezy character assessments pass unchallenged."
[Private/Voice]
"I suspect she is interested in Nova's resources. Going by that logic, the influence she currently possesses is not quite enough to obtain what she truly wants. Quite the tactician, that girl." she murmurs with a slight smirk. "That said, your advice has merit, yet I can't help but think such line of thought also holds a greater advantage than disadvantage. Hmn."
[Action]
Hello, Theodore. Don't you look busy today.

{Don't mind him making light jibes at your expense, Ted.]
I don't mind at all, although it will take an awfully long time for you to even come close to matching one of my grandeur. My power is near unrivalled, is is my elegant beauty.
Re: [Video, Private]
I don't! I can't be held accountable if my bright ideas aren't well received. The World has always persecuted iconoclasts and rebels. The tyranny of those who don't care. I'll just have to make them.
Hmhm, we'll see about that. Such audacity's enough to make me wish you had been contested, if only to see the fireworks. No offense to the other candidates, I love them, but their speeches are sleeping aids. Do I have to save the world and entertain it single-handed?
